About This File

A revisit of my old Chartres Cathedral Model.

Textures have been freshened up and a few mistakes corrected, as well as size and proportion.

Chartres Cathedral is a medieval Catholic cathedral located in Chartres, France. It is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The current cathedral, mostly constructed between 1194 and 1250, is the last of at least five which have occupied the site since the town became a bishopric in the 4th century.

The cathedral is in an exceptional state of preservation. The majority of the original stained glass windows survive intact, while the architecture has seen only minor changes since the early 13th century. The building's exterior is dominated by heavy flying buttresses which allowed the architects to increase the window size significantly, while the west end is dominated by two contrasting spires – a 105-metre (349 ft) plain pyramid completed around 1160 and a 113-metre (377 ft) early 16th-century Flamboyant spire on top of an older tower. Equally notable are the three great façades, each adorned with hundreds of sculpted figures illustrating key theological themes and narratives.

I'd love to know who is down-rating these bats, but a 3.89 score for such perfection? It's unbelievable.

I hope a moderator can ban these trolls as I'm sure it will discourage custom content creators from uploading their work in future.

Brilliant job, thankyou for sharing...if I could give it more than 5 stars I would.

May I inquire what is your reason for locking your Notre Dame de Paris on the sc4devotion csxlex site (even though it no longer matters, people can still download ROFL)??

Most obviously because he's going to re-export it the same he did for Chartres' ?

That's right, but not entirely. This was just an overhaul, in the case of Notre-Dame de Paris, I have already began remodeling it from scratch.

Wow, lovely stuff..

I take it you decided not to go with BAT4MAX in the end? Such a shame, IMO perfection could have been made more perfect!

This cathedral is one of my favorite gothic churches, and in SimCity it was one of my first downloads. I loved the model and used it often in my towns. Now i´ve downloaded the reworked model and the only thing i can say is a big thank You!

Cathedralizer - a good word for your outstanding work, although you do not only modeling churches and cathedrals. But i like it!

Masterful BATing skills. I just wonder why you don't do the 133% height correcting trick because it looks a bit squashed and Gothic architecture really should emphasize height - but it is still a beautiful BAT.

I find the 133% too much stretch. This version is actually 110% larger on the z axis, more resizing looked too distorted to my liking.
