About This File

G'Day Simtropians,

Today I wish to present a map of Manchester, Recently I was asked to make this map and a few days later informed my services were no longer needed. Oh well I had a map and it had no home, until now.

Manchester was first settled sometime before 79AD when the Romans built a fort there. Since that time Manchester has never looked back.

This is a real world map, produced with dem and satellite date. Wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer is required to import the .sc4m file into one's game. It is terrain and scale accurate.

A readme is included detailing instructions and links and a picture.

That's all I think.

No there is something else,

The map troll is not a troll, he is just a jealous and spiteful old man. Interestingly when he went on holidays last christmas, amazingly no ones were seen anywhere. I thought perhaps he'd lost his log in, until he showed up again and so did the ones! I was going to stop making maps after about 50 but then I thought if it craps him off so much I'll just keep going, Now I have more than 350 maps, Ha loser.

Personally I don't like anonymous rating, if one is big enough to dish out crappy ones then one is big enough to stand up and give a reason. I think it is time for the Admins to out this person, high ranking, good standing, whatever, so be it. What with so much analytical software on websites these days it is not that difficult to track button clicks and log them, even my web site has some ;<).

Cheers

Another stunning map, worthy of the 5/5. I too wish the map bomber would be taken care, it is disappointing when such trolls get away with abusing the system. Well, hope we see another 350 maps of the highest quality come from you!

I have to say though, the rivers and canals are smaller than I thought they'd be. The part around Salford Quays seems smaller than I thought it'd be. Nevertheless I am thankful. 5/5.

As an aside, if Izidor decides to finish his version, I'll download it and compare to see which I prefer.

Looks cool! I work there! I wish it included a bit more into Cheshire, is that the Mersey River or Bollin in the bottom corner?

Thanks guys for your great comments.

TheBonobo you're welcome. The rivers and canals are quite small.

Posh that is the Weaver and Northwich in the corner.

Thanks and cheers

Just checked and this map goes from Warrington (West) to the Pennines (East), up North to Ramsbottom and Rochdale and as far South as Macclesfield and Northwich. This map is huge and much bigger than I needed! 5 stars all the way, I love it! :D

G'Day thanks for all your great comments, Yes the map is quite large but not real big.

Out of interest Salford Quays are about 75m wide, this equals about 4.7px in SC4 terms (4.7 x 16 = 75). On the map Salford Quays report about 5px. This I think is close enough to be considered accurate scale.

Another measurement I took was the triangulated distance (using Pythagoras Theorem) from the war memorial in Manchester to the confluence of the Weaver and the small creek in Northwich, a distance reporting about 27.35km. On the map the distance reported is around 27.42km. This minor difference could be due to not selecting the exact same points off the map that I chose in the image. Still I think this still qualifies it as accurate scale.

Thanks and cheers
