About This File

Abteibruecke (Cloister Bridge) by DocRorlach

Suggested originally by Paeng of SimPeg fame, the Abteibruecke (Cloister Bridge) was Berlin's first reinforced concrete span bridge and opened in 1916 as a pedestrian connection over the river Spree to a small island which has served various recreactional purposes over the centuries.

Our bridge can span up to three tiles, and its walkway is 9m above the ground level, sufficient to cross a ground highway or avenue, or even a narrow gorge or river. Naturally, the bridge is eye-candy only. I've taken some liberties with the original: instead of sweeping ramps we added steps on both sides. Also, the span is shorter than the real bridge, by approximately 30%. The companion building next to the actual overpass has been ommitted altogether.

While the bridge can sit on level ground, its foundation was designed for raised terrain. That said, the terrain tiles on either end should be level for best placement. There are two bridges included: one with a wooden, pier-like foundation for ploppable water or river banks; and one with a concrete foundation for more urban usage, featuring a slightly darker concrete façade.

Support:

These WMP/DocRorlach creations are now legacy contents and therefore their support is very limited, however support from the wider community can be requested here on SC4 Devotion or in the STEX Custodian General Support Topic. Best include a screen-shot illustrating the problem.

(These very same lots can be/will be found on the LEX too, look for the WMP contents.)
