Stop Maxis Mansions from growing  1.0

About This File

This is a mod that stops low density Maxis R$$$ (the huge, sprawling mansions) from growing in your game. But the higher density R$$$ condos and apartments still grow, as well as 2 of the smaller 2X2 high wealth homes that blend in better.

INSTALLATION:

Simply unzip and place the DAT  file in your documents/SimCity 4/plugins folder.

No dependencies.

CREDIT GOES TO ANDREAS ROTH FOR THIS TUTORIAL:

If you are comfortable with using Ilive's reader to mod, you can make a similar effect to any degree you want if you are unhappy with any of the things this mod allows you to grow.  Simply take any existing block-all-R$$$ mod, highlight any of the exemplars which represent the buildings you still want to grow, delete those exemplars and save as a new DAT.

lol, i made a huge city with 4x4 blocks, i watered the whole region (before the zones were placed!) and i put on super demand, and before i knew it, every single block was a mansion. :( but anyways, what would happen if you already have mansions in youre city? would they dissapear?

I like the idea of this mod, but what if I want a town with nothing but mansions. Rich people need a place of their own. I'm sure they are not all wanting to live in a 30-story building. Now if this were an ordinance that let me pick which towns can or can't have the mansions that would be awesome.

Oh thank god, we are free from the blight of Maxis Mansions! I'm assuming those mansions that are already built won't be affected? There is, by the way, now a mod to block all Maxis.

Excellent stuff, thanks a lot. And in theory - if you remove the plugin, let mansions grow then put it back, they will stay where they are (but no new ones will grow), which would be useful to selectively develop mansions. Correct me if I am wrong

Why would I want to get rid of those mega mansions anyway? Those mansions symbolize that I have finally moved some rich sims into my city.

This is kind of silly. I would like it if I could get rid of some mansions, the sucky ones, but I love the 4 New York Californian Mediterranean estates and that one black roofed siding house, plus the blue Chicago house. But so this is useless. My opinion!

it'll be interesting to see how my cities grow now..... i like to keep em small and like others have said....these mansions just throw off the look of a smaller city....look forward to using it :)

Love it. It's so unfitting when these things cut into city blocks, as well as all of the complaints of *unemployment* I mean they're rich, right? Why do they need jobs?
