About This File

In real life, Police Stations and Fire Stations usually cover vast areas, especially the latter, but in SimCity 4, this cannot be done. So, how do you provide police and fire coverage for your sims, but not spoil the realistic look of your city? Well...look no further!

This download includes two lots. Both lots are 1x1 grass tiles, 10 simoleans to plop and 5 simoleans to bulldoze.

One lot will provide fire coverage and one lot will provide police coverage. The radius, is the majority of a medium city tile, however, both lots need to be placed by a road, otherwise the police cars and fire engines have no where to go. The police coverage lot will appear under your 'police' menu and your fire coverage lot will appear under your 'fire' menu.

There should be no dependencies at all, but tell me if theres a problem.

Use these lots with caution, and remember that they do not provide any jobs!

I have a set of Japanese lots , one fire one police that are set on wharves that have this effect as well. I have no idea where they came from. The Japanese lots are scaled way too small to look right but I use them anyway. With these lots I'll plop them next to or behind a fire/police station and connect with a bit of road like an alley. And voila, instant mass coverage.

MasterBuilder - how on earth are they not realistic? I assume you havea fire station on every street corner where you live, do you? Fantastic stuff, cozzle - this along with the market place lots are very simple, yet very, very effective additions.

I dunno, it would feel too much like cheating. It would be better to have an actual fire station that simply has a wider coverage area.

patfirefghtr these are just grass lots ;) My rating is 1. This is just for cheaters and those who can't afford a fire or police station...

Lots of people are saying that this is for cheaters. Can I just put it out there that not everybody plays this game by the original rules because they are aiming more for realism. You have to put a stupid amount of police stations in the game to keep crime at a reasonable level. This eliminates the repetition of buildings and for that it deserves a 10.

Don't understand the purpose of this since there are so many great and differant real police and fire stations with all various stats available on the STEX and other sites.

numanboy, what if someone doesn't like the stations available on the STEX? Most of them can't be renamed, and that drives me crazy. I give this a 10/10

All I can say is awesome. I like how it isn't an eyesore like the other ones and that I can make it blend in perfectly with parks, unlike the police kiosks. There is one problem. It does feel a little bit like cheating because the cost is low and yet it seems like it does so much. I'll try this when I get home and see how much it really affects how the coverage is. For now, an 8, for an excellent idea.

This is really great for cities in my region without town areas. good work, even though it probably took you only 5 minutes to make :P

Some facts on realism. A small region=1.05sq.km. or 259.5 Acres imperial. medium region=4.19sq.km. or 1.618sq.mi. large region=16.78sq.km or 6.479sq.mi. When it comes to civic coverage and commute distances, the game provided civics have a very unrealistic area coverage and having a simple grass lot tucked in out of the way here and there is one way to handle it,...good thinking on your part. Very similar in concept to the School Bus Stops Lot elsewhere on the STEX.

I agree with NCD as he does have a vaild point here!!! I do like the idea even though I modified my stations to well cover a large tile and thus for I do cheat... But its a private collection... Anyways io-bg I knew what they where I just asking for a closer up pic on the lot and also to have both lots included to see that the fire works as well with spawning... I will rate to show I do support this novel idea!!! 10/10

I've been reading all the comments and i have a few things to say: Firstly, i may update it by increasing the price... But, more importantly...This lot is not intended for those who play the way the game and its simulator is meant to be played. This is for people who want to achieve realsim. The point of these lots is to ensure you have police and fire coverage in your rural and suburban areas without having to place a police and fire station, which looks unrealistic...

great! Now all we need is something for hospitals, and maybe schools, colleges and university's as well. Grass lots are just so much easier to hide.
