About This File

Well, long time no see! It's good to be back after such a long abcense (I blame my old system guts, they hated running 3d apps)

Anyway, Here it is, a simplified model of the original Art Deco public library! When I first saw this structure, I simply had to model it! Fitting perfectly within a 2x3 lot, this solid concrete structure is sure to make your sims not only proud, but thankful that you ditched the default libraries! Designed to fit into a more modern cityscape and boasting about 36000 books, it's only slightly better than the local branch library, but what it lacks in capacity it more than makes up for in style.

The Berkeley Public Library was designed by James Plachek (unless I read the information incorrectly) and has undergone a huge renovation since it's original construction. I may modify this model to reflect those changes in time, however for now I hope you will enjoy this!

----Update!----

I have added a light roof version of the library to the zip because yes, the roof was just a liiittle bit too dark. I also added roof junk and *I think* extra capacity to the new version.. though why anyone would need that many books is beyond me! Anyway, enjoy them!

The roof kills it for me. The rest is very nice, though I've never seen the real building. Lighten the roof, and I'll use it! We need more buildings in this style.

Is this the library from before the renovation? If so, you should make the new one with the admin building in the back as well. You should try modeling the United Artist theater that's down the street on Shattuck as well :)

Now with the actual link: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=shattuck+and+bancroft,+berkeley,+ca&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=43.443045,66.09375&ie=UTF8&ll=37.868186,-122.268238&spn=0.001328,0.002017&t=h&z=19&om=0 And they've added a moder structure to the west of the original building that goes all the way to the other side of the block a couple of years ago.

As for the roof junk not matching the original? Well, all I can say is artistic license! I like this roof better.
