  1. Woman pepper sprays Black Friday shoppers

My black friday went well, and it was generally civil interactions with other shoppers. I got some fantastic bargains on clothing, which helps with the college student shoestring budget. There was one guy who was shouting in the line at best buy, but nothing else beside that.

Suh is dumb for doing that, and I disliked his post-game reaction even more, but I doubt he gets more than a 1 game suspension for this. This is the NFL, remember the Courtland Finnegan Andre Johnson fight, punches to the face got them itty bitty fines.

Tebow is really turrible at passing. He is a legit runner and a leader, but as a thrower he is one of the worst NFL quarterbacks I've ever seen. I doubt he will amount to anything special in this league, but you never know. Cowboys didn't look that great at all today but they pulled out a win. I hope I get to see the Thursday game!
  4. The Keystone Pipeline Project

From the Washington post "Girling said Friday that the 13,000 figure was “one person, one year,” meaning that if the construction jobs lasted two years, the number of people employed in each of the two years would be 6,500. That brings the company’s number closer to the State Department’s; State says the project would create 5,000 to 6,000 construction jobs, a figure that was calculated by its contractor Cardno Entrix. As for the 7,000 indirect supply chain jobs, the $1.9 billion already spent by TransCanada would reduce the number of jobs that would be created in the future. A TransCanada statement Sept. 30 said the project would be “stimulating over 14,400 person years of employment” in Oklahoma alone. It cited a study by Ray Perryman, a Texas-based consultant to TransCanada, saying the pipeline would create “250,000 permanent jobs for U.S. workers.” But Perryman was including a vast number of jobs far removed from the industry. Using that technique in a report on the impact of wind farms, Perryman counted jobs for dancers, choreographers and speech therapists." and more from fact checking from Think Progress I seriously and strongly question the merits of this project as a "job creator" that it is being touted as.

I didn't think the Rays were really that hot coming into the playoffs, rather the Red Sox were so bad and collapsed so epically that there was a misguided perception that the Rays were on fire, when they merely played well down the stretch that was actually on par with the Rangers. Go Rangers!

Deja Vu? Nelson Cruz smacked a 3 run homer to end the game tonight. This guy is goood. Also feel like he has chronically underachieved throughout his career; he should be a superstar of the game.

I am enjoying the Rangers this year That being said, I am pretty upset that MLB arbitrarily canceled the game on Sunday without even trying to play it. I was in Dallas for the weekend and made plans to see them play on Sunday, which obviously did not get to happen. So no Rangers game for me thanks a lot MLB...

Detroit has legit pieces in Mathew Stafford, Calvin Johnson, Brandon Pettigrew, and N. Suh (lol no idea how to spell his name...). There are still a lot of positions that could really be upgraded, but the elite talent is there for the Lions to be really good, for a long time. There is a lot to like about Dallas, but there are too many issues with the offensive line to truly consider them a contender. Phil Costa, Nagy, and Kosier are all below average offensive lineman which makes them one dimensional on offense which is exacerbated by the utter mediocrity of their stable of running backs. Tony Romo and the passing game have some serious talents but Romo makes too many bad decisions throwing the ball to rely on him to carry the team to a super bowl.

Yeah I didn't agree with cutting Gurode. I dont feel like the interior of our line is very good at all. Bill Nagy has some of the lowest offensive line grades at LG in the league, and we clearly saw what Costa did last night.

Dang Cowboys are getting decimated by injuries! Our center, left guard, backup left guard, starting wide receivers, starting tight end, back up tight end, top three cornerbacks, starting running back, and our quarterback all are dealing with moderate injuries that could keep them out of the game on Monday. Crazy!

Food for thought. Reflections of an ex-GOP Operative I think this article encapsulates my views on the current state of politics better than any article I've seen.

I think its reasonable to take a short vacation, no matter what your profession. We are all human and too much work and too little sleep will burn out the best of us. That includes presidents, house leaders, prime ministers, CEOs, professional athletes, and architects.

I was driving back to Lubbock so I missed the game but I heard the entire team looked rather bad. Ominous sign for the season. Drew Pearson only makes the Hall through the senior committee and I have no idea what their opinions of him are.
