I sure hope that the building selection and such is searchable/filterable, given the amount of content that accumulates in the menus with mods. A simple free text filter for all menus would do the trick, saving on scrolling time. And for the Simcity after the next Simcity: real time raytracing .

Originally posted by: gspang4207 I think I am just as excited as the next person for Cities XL, however, I am scared. I think a couple of missteps here from the developer have the chance of making this game a complete flop. 1. Not releasing in English first?! Now, I am not trying to be selfish to other languages out there, but lets face it...English is one of the primary languages in the world. Not releasing this game in English along with the other languages or at least providing a relase date for an English version, is a really silly move, if you ask me. This site has really hyped this game up, lots of free advertising for Cities XL, and they aren't even going to release an English version on the announed release date? 2. Paying for upgrades/online service...So yea, you can play the game solo and play online...I get it. So, they want you to purchase the game and pay a fee to play online (again, the online fees not posted in American Dollars)? Pay a fee for updates and gems for the game...? I dunno, I am a little hesitient on that one. If I am paying for something, it better be worth it. Those are a couple of my thoughts. In my opinon, without playing the game, I am worried this game is going to be in the $10 junk video game bin at Walmart very quickly. Anyone have any thoughts or something I am not understanding here? I really hope this game is fun and cool I am tired of being hyped up about it. Announce a release date (ENGLISH) and release the darn game already. quote> Surely, there are things that can be considered about the actual contents of this game. But if you think the two reasons you mentioned are going to affect it then I do not know how you are reasoning at all. So what if it is not in English first. Some will need to wait a few weeks... buu huu, that will really destroy the game huh :/ . Makes no sense at all. There are many Japanese games which are released in Japan and Japanese first, for example. As for the second point, you will only pay for what you want, you do not need to if you do not want to. But these things cost to develop, if you are fine with a game that is realtively soon after abandoned then do not pay for the extra developments and do not get them either. Do you think that the new developments and content develop and support themselves? I realize that what I wrote above is rough or what have you, its supposed to be. Its quite tiring to read such un-thought through nonsense. If you are going to criticize things like this then at least have something to come with. How this is managed, how the prices will work and whether the game will do well in a manner to support such further development, that is another issue. Furthermore there will almost guaranteedly be a lot of free patches and extra content as well in the forms of general patches and certain new content. In the meantime, why doesnt everyone who owns a Simcity 4 copy go to EA Games and ask them to give them the Rush Hour Expansion Pack for free? Or while one is at it why not ask them to maybe develop a new one, for free of course, also? There is a lot of new technologies and features I would want to SImcity, what an absolutely brilliantly genious idea to demand it for free! I do think that it is important that the fees are reasonable and reflect the service/product. There is no guarantee that this will succeed, but on the other hand MC are taking an economical risk by aiming to do this in the first place. I personally think they are doing a good thing, it will take something special and for the genre extraordinary to compete with SC4. We will see about the execution... I remember that Maxis always had an evident quality check for what they produced and released, they did not include content that was not up to those standards, let us not forget that Maxis even cancelled Simville very long into its development simply because it was not being up to their standards. Monte Cristo need to expect a certain standard from themselves also, and make sure they meet that standard with what they release. I am saying this for a reason because the motorway interchange shown on their site some month ago was not up to the standards id expect, if they are going to release it like that, then they should serously consider simply stripping it from the game unless they fix it until the game release. Id rather have a few well done interchanges to begin with, than many bad ones. One thing I am wondering is if this game design will appeal and entertain new players of the genre, I really hope it will attract new genre players.
