Please note that this Station is pretty much obsolete, having long since been included as an Option in the Network Addon Mod (NAM). The NAM version also features updated modding that will avoid potential capacity problems, which can lead to a bug that prevents entire transit networks from working. If you are using the NAM, you should not download this file, rather use the NAM included version instead.

About This File

CTA's Ashland/Lake station was built along with the rest of the Lake Street Elevated in 1892.  It was designed by an unknown architect in the Queen Anne style, with elements of Victorian Gothic.

Back in 1892, this station was identical to several other stations on the same line.  Today, there are only two of these beautiful designs remaining.  The stationhouses at Ashland remain intact, but the platforms have been extended and shortened many times over the station's century-long history.  The platforms in this model are roughly as they appeared in the 1940s.

The lot is only 1x3, with overhanging platforms, but it is meant to be linked with the NAM's Elevated-Railroad-Over-Road puzzle pieces, where those puzzle pieces cross a perpendicular road. (see the pictures, it will make sense then). Note: UDI does not work through this station, either on the roads or on the tracks, unless you drag roads through the lot after plopping it.

Lot Stats:

Lot Size: 1x3

Platform Length: 7 tiles

Capacity: 10000

Cost: $1800

Air Pollution: 1 over 1 tile

Water Pollution: 3 over 2 tiles

Garbage: 1 ton/month

Very innovative. My only comment is the roof of the main building looks way too bright. It almost looks untextured. Still, great job.

Although the roof texture is indeed to white, it is a great BAT. Surely appreciated it if it is retextured.

The roof is actually a light-grey standing-seam metal material, which appears white in aerial views because of strong sunlight. It is textured, which is why you can see the seams.

very nice! but I think this is were maxis messed up pretty badly on scaling... I mean the out of wack building hight is all right but a rail this high is odd... but the station still looks awesome. 10/10

Oh yes yes yes! Another PROPER 'L' Station (i call this as proper, the ones which sit on top of the road not next to it.) Now my extensive Elevated rail network will have more variety bravo! 10/10!

still........the texture would be a lot more better looking once darkened. It just stands out too much. I downloaded it, tried it, works perfectly and looks good, but put it aside, hoping (and wishing....lol) for a darker roof.

Very nice. A few issues, though: 1) Like the Madison-Wells station, this station is completely invisible at zoom level 3. The underlying road is visible, and the station can be queried, but there's nothing but a gap between the track on both sides.

(Continued due to pposting limitations.) 2) Unlike Madison-Wells, at zoom level 4 this station is only half visible, right down to the middle tile being chopped diagonally. I don't see other people reporting these problems; is it just me? What could be causing them? Do the files need to be in a particular place in the Plugins hierarchy? Oh yes, if you bulldoze the invisible stations, they become visible as they collapse.

(Continued due to pposting limitations.) 3) These stations would be EXTREMELY useful if you added bus and subway connections to them. Considering the Chicago stations on which they're based, that would be quite realistic.

(Continued due to posting limitations.) 4) It would also be useful to be able to change the names of individual stations, so that every station on my El line is not named Ashland. Right now the station can be renamed, of course, but doing so renames ALL such stations. As the standard Maxis stations allow individual renaming, as do various other custom stations, I wouldn't think that this would be too difficult.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It's so nice to see rail stations with platforms of a usable length. I'm looking forward to more CTA stations in the future.
