Quite simply: this is an amazing CJ which i've been watching in the wings for quite some time. Keep it going And patriots, i have to respond: 15-0 doesn't beat 17-0. Win it all then we'll talk and consider yourself lucky you have a Tom Brady caliber QB. think of all the teams that don't have the same freak-QB.

I was wondering, for posterity's sake, if someone would be able to undergo making the US Robotics building from the movie I, Robot. I would try it myself but it would be my first attempt at creating anything and i can't even download ea's program b/c my account never recieved a confirmation e-mail. But that's just me complaining. Anyway, i think it's a cool building with some cool possibilities. I'm also not sure if this is the correct venue in which to post this but i've been away from Simtropolis for some time now so i'm not quite up to speed on a lot of newer aspects.

i'm sure this post is years after your posts but i agree it does depend on your style. i just like rampant growth, and i use planned development always. it just seemed like you were taking an unnecessary amount of time. to me at least. but i don't think there is any difference in the rate of growth of health, but then again i never use clinics, so i couldn't honestly compare them.

Coolotter88: Sea levels will rise if icebergs melt. They do this because as water heats up it expands. Therefore, it will produce a greater volume of water than there was of ice. And icebergs are pretty big. Besides, Antarctica is also melting. It is not an iceberg. It will add an insurmountable amount of water. People really need to look at the issues and gauge which facts are relevant. I also am at least marginally fond of Al Gore. But in his movie, he specifically emphasizes the fact that the United States has almost 3 times greater CO2 emissions per capita than China. Per capita means per person Al. The US has 300M people. China has 1,313,973,713 people. (according to the CIA.) 1.3 BILLION!!!! Duh! But i do agree with his position. And I don't know if anyone has ever been to China. I have, for work. It is absolutely disgusting. They burn and unbelievable amount of coal. Everything is coal. Just think about things. It doesn't matter your position.

Commercial growth does not really pick up until around 20,000-30,000 residential population. I also find that zoning vast stretches of residential areas will bring lots of tax revenue. You might want to have a few major streets to separate them and whatnot for traffic reasons. Peorth, if you do decide to make a guide it would be appreciated, and I might be able to help. I also have a question. I have a city pop of 550k and a regional pushing 900+. I'm sure I do have stage 8 buildings, just how do i know when I have them?

Dont bother with clinics. Personally, I find they reach their capacity too quickly. Also, your health will go up ever so slowly. After 25 years you only have 25k? At 25 years i had 500k. Anyway, give it time, but also make sure ALL areas are covered. If you have uncovered areas, the new residents will never grow in health. Thanks for the question!

No road connections on new residential growth
bradleybaggins replied to Gnargenox's topic in SC4 Showcase
After reading the original post, I would say it looks to me like a classic example of high commute time. Check your commute time. If it gets to be above, I believe it's 90 minutes to two hours you will see massive abandonment. I have heard this described and had it myself briefly. Try to decrease your commute time. You could add bus stops or an extra stop of any various mass transit that you happen to be using. Another possibilty is that you could do a little demolition. Tear down a central location in your residential area. Now put in a commercial zoning of the same density. This will relocate your jobs, and help prevent abandonment. As for the no road zot, I do get that occasionally, but it goes away eventually. Good luck. -
I believe bicycles are considered a form of pedestrian transportation. And only you MySim can specifically select a bicycle.
-
To get your sims to use a mass transit solution, it has to take the least amount of tiles, that is, unless you download the Radical Ordinance mod by RaphaelNinja and activate one of the Mass Transit Strategies (e.g. MT Strategy - Mass Transit Only.) Regardless, it takes many, many years for education to rise. Suppose you have 3 schools covering the same house. The children in that house can't go to more that one school right? Such is the way of SimCity 4.
-
I believe this is possible, but it has to be low density. If you had 4 tiles square, it may work. I will give an example of what I mean by this: R - One tile Residential C - One tile Commercial - - road -------------------------- -CCCC-RRRR-CCCC-RRRR-CCCC- -CCCC-RRRR-CCCC-RRRR-CCCC- -CCCC-RRRR-CCCC-RRRR-CCCC- -CCCC-RRRR-CCCC-RRRR-CCCC- -------------------------- -CCCC-RRRR-CCCC-RRRR-CCCC- -CCCC-RRRR-CCCC-RRRR-CCCC- -CCCC-RRRR-CCCC-RRRR-CCCC- -CCCC-RRRR-CCCC-RRRR-CCCC- -------------------------- and so on.... It would have to almost be a segregated community.
-
I think it's a good techinique as a use for small cities. You also might consider a landfill community? Sort of like a regional dump, if you will. I don't use you technique, however. I prefer the old fashioned way, though i do acknowledge your technique.

Nice. Realistic too. Add more runways too. Meaning that you need less open space. I would consider a large parking stricture, like a tall one. And possibly make the concourses taller. Nice Work.
