About This File

NO MORE BROWN BOXES !! This is a quick & dirty little mod that replaces those big ugly brown packages... with little ugly multi-colored "smudges". The advantage here is that Multi-Color Smudge is quite small... and does not cover the entire lot.

The disadvantage to the default ugly brown packages, besides being brown... and ugly... is that it covers up the entire friggin' lot. This prevents you from being able to see which item on the lot is causing the problem... and often from even being able to see which lot has the issue.

Technically, this mod simply overrides those brown package models (there are of 5 in total, all different sizes) and forces the game to display the default multi-color smudge it normally displays when it can't find a model's graphic files. The mod is a minimal 36k in size so there is almost no game resource usage. And although the Multi-Color Smudges are small, they are still quite easy to see... which makes spotting a problem almost as easy as noticing a big, honking, brown ugly box in the middle of downtown.

Great work! Been waiting for this one to come out ever since I saw it in beta on your site.. If anything's a 10/10, this is it.

Now if you could make that same mod and simply replace these colour stripes by a regular Maxis Freight box that can be found in the LE, you will be My Hero (again). I have many of them but sometimes I like the lot without being obliged to download the props for it, so this would come in handy.

By keeping the regular size of the shipping box, it would not hurt the looks of the lot. Like the one you showed on the pic above, the lot is looking good, even without the prop.

Thanks Peg. I've been waiting for this since I saw you announce it in the beta news on your website. Should be a big help when tracking down a missing prop.

** The plan for this mod was to replace the brown box with a small little sign that said, "OPPS!!". (thus the name of the mod) Unfortunately, when I discovered there were 5 different box models... with unaccessable code to determine which one to use, I just went with the color smudges.

Isn't there though an easy way to make this less flashing? Maybe have nothing at all appearing instead of the box? That would really be perfect for me and many others. In any case, this is fantastic mod!

Thank you! Now I can finally see those dependencies I might not have for santas village! Instead of plopping it and seeing friggin boxes all over the lot. BTW What are the dependencies for santa's village?
