Hey guys, it's been a while since I've posted on these forums but I thought this would be a good place to fish for some advice. I'm starting college in August and I'm interested in taking some courses in architectural studies and especially urban planning. I'm not sure urban planning is what I'll ultimately major in, and the school I'm going to (Emory University) has a great reputation but isn't known for an urban planning department, but it's still an area that's always really interested me and that I could see myself being passionate about. My question is, what sort of careers and opportunities are available in urban planning? I know there's some people who are in the field on these forums, so any general advice would be appreciated. Where did you all start out and what sort of work do you do now? Thanks in advance for your help.

The Official City Journal Critics Thread Archive

I began a critics project about a year ago, and lemme just give you some advice, okay? Taking requests is gonna be tough, because by taking one person's request, others feel that you're obliged to take their's, and it gets out of hand. Now, having several reviewers was smart, and it should help a lot, but just be warned. Good luck with the project, hope it goes further than mine and that you guys don't make the same mistakes that I made. A link to my original critics thread: The Critic. A lot of people seemed to like it, although it didn't make past three or four editions. (There was a resurrection of this project a few months ago, but it's pointless to link to it, as it only had something like two editions due to a general misconception about the reviewing methods used by myself and my partner.) Maybe it'll help. Again, good luck, I'll be watching. -
Really nice intro, looking forward to more. I'm always impressed when people can effectively build rural areas, and you've done just that. Keep up the good work! (PS: I wish I had a name for you, but I'm not sure that I could come up with one British enough for the taste of a fellah across thuh pond...)

Wow, nice start - good luck with the CJ -
Wow, very unique and innovative city design. The skycrapers cutting through the trees is very interesting - and almost poetic! Looking very good so far, keep up the great work

Wow, lots of potential here. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with that map (I'm a hand-terraformer as well, so I can appreciate that) Good luck with the CJ (That banner is great too, by the way) -
Nice update, I'm enjoying your cities. Good luck with the CJ

Wow, very impressive region, and the cities look great. I would recommend a water mod, but besides that, it's all excellent. Keep up the good work..

Wow, really big region. Looks interesting - good luck with the CJ

Looks awesome - I love the attention to detail, and there's just that intangible element that adds to the overall feel of the city. Great work.

You have some serious eye-candy there - the cities look EXCELLENT. I'm looking forward to watching as you develop past the central areas. Keep up the good work..

The city looks good, but I agree with Tia-may that you should make the text a little easier to read in any future videos. Still, I'm looking forward to the CJ, it should be a good one. Good luck with it..

Wow, excellent update. The attention to detail you have is really amazing - to often I see CJs with cities that simply look unrealistic in every way. You're one of the few exceptions I've seen to that. Keep up the good work...
