Problem with building London is that, while suburban London style buildings exist, nothing to recreate central London exists on the stex (well barely anything bar 1 or 2 landmarks). The closest you will get are porkies parisian buildings for Embankment/St. James Park/South Kensington/Leister Square/Trafalgar Square. The financial city should be easy enough, dockalnds too. The uniqueness of tube stations too is a pain. Last time I attempte a London map the hardest part I found was laying the rail lines because irl the sations are different to stex ones, for example charring cross is on stilts (ala el rail). while you can use nam puzzle pieces to lift the railway line above ground it creats all maner of problems with the river section (and it doesnt look right as a level crossing) I wish you the best of luck, I spent 2 days down there drawing a map if I find it i will scan it and upload it.

I believe, (could be mis-interpreting here) that what happened was: 1) iceland banks in trouble, big chance of all english investment vanishing 2) to stop that, government froze all british accounts to stop money in accounts being used by bank to pay off 'debts' (well not actually debts but wages/insurance and the likes etc.) 3) they had to use a clause that was introduced in the anti terrorism bill, since it involved no red tape and was quick 4) others mis-interpreted and thought country was labled terrorists when it was infact NOT 5) story spirals out of controle as newspapers love this kind of stuff.

irregardless of how many people work there, the taxes would be taken out of the farms profits. Just because the farm employs more people doesnt mean it makes more money.

STEX v.s. LEX (and Official SC4 Exchange) (Poll Added)
jackel.22 replied to Cougar2004's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
LEX search = crap sorry but its junk, key word search please? I dont like searching by author, stops new talent from comming through. Otherwise they are fairly similar. Although im not a big fan of the building style of BSC lots which dominates the LEX so I dont tend to use it as much. Prefer Porkissimos and Ill Tonksos style. Although there is some really good quality stuff on there which is not uploaded here. Oh and for the love of sanity the sc4d forums need a flippin trim down, never, I mean never have I seen more pointless boards in any other forum on the internet. Its a flippin joke, instead of opening new threads you open up whole new sections. Give it a rest already. SC4D could be slimmed down into like 5 baords tops. -
I believe there was one by dusktrooper or something ages ago, appologies if I got the name wrong havnt used simtropolis in a while.

Really BIG problem from that video to me is the re-use of City life roads, they are ridiculously out of proportion and not realistic, I mean when have you ever seen a pavement (sidewalk for yanks) that is as wide as one/two lanes of traffic? never bar the maybe one road in the whole of the city you live in. I can only think of a few in London at least. Also the buildings looks kind of 'meh' they look too flat, at least the sc4 buildings have well defined edges the ones in the video looked like ones from an old game where building wasnt the main focus, they just look a little bit 'cardboard cut out' to me. Still it does look pretty nice and would make a change I guess I just hope the game play is on the same terms as SC4, if it has inter-relations of class status junk il sling my copy out of the window. Not interested in that just want to build a city and manage it financially please. OR on/off feature for social management stuff.

this building has got more detail in the roof junk alone then 90% of the stuff on the stex. Really great work, always been a fan of your buildings keep it up. The base doesn't look all that bad people either, if you take a minute to look carefully and think it actually suits the building well imo. The second pic with that rotation does it more justice then the side on view.

Something has gone drastically wrong...
jackel.22 replied to Nerd_Guy's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I have a similar problem, what ever region I create whether from custom map or just a standard fresh region, it is always 2 elevations above normal. Really is a pain and for some reason reconcile edges is a little crazy too like it wont reconcile its will just make a huge steep slop. I believe this is a result of something going wrong with a snow caped mod I installed ages ago that had to use a terrain height controller Still its bearable, tried moving all my plugins out and still happened, still not enough to make me reinstall though. -
Illegal downloaders could face UK internet ban
jackel.22 replied to fukuda's topic in Current Events
Its unworkable and if the government are indeed doing this to support profits of record companies which they will ultimately tax, they will lose far more from the ISPs after customers are cut off. It would also effectively nullify the need for huge connection speeds since you only need a small amount to play online not 4mb per second or whatever is going down your pipes. which means all the infrastructure the ISPs have been working on to give these faster speeds will have been in vain. (not saying pirating is the only reason for fast connections but its probably the main gripe) Further more i suspect if you inspected the CEOs of the music industries personal computer I am almost 100% sure they will have pirated goods on there too. 'Whats good for the geese is good for the gander' springs to mind. Its going to be impossible to stop peopl. Even the German security services had a legal argument over tor to build back doors in their system because it was too good to trace people. Sure it may be slower but there are a million ways for people to escape. Im neither in favour or against these new laws (ok lie, im not a fan of them) There is already too much surveillance in the UK as it is, I don't mind the security services invading some 'would be potential terrorists' computer but not some stupid token government funding black hole of a department to make the extortionist record labels more money. Its times like these i support conservatives simply for the fact that they pledge to cut the unimaginable crap heap that is government red tape, as well as all these cruddy wasteful departments which effectively have no purpose. sack 50% of civil servants for a start. Sorry to go political but it aggravates me so much to see the government throwing funds away then paying for an enquiry into how the funds were thrown away, throwing away more money in the process, while putting taxes up. -
thanks jplumbley for answering my query, im was going to start a fresh region so il definitely download this. il take your advice and start with hard.

Can somebody please clarify a point? if i were to start a new city i would want the option closest to radical so that would be option A? then as the city grows i would have to delete 'hard' and replace it with 'medium'? then delete 'medium' and replace with 'easy'? would i have to do this to all individual cities? ie. say i already have 3 or 4 at around 1million (therefore 'easy') and i wish to start a fresh city, (i would have to keep swapping out the easy for hard every time i changed cities?
