In SimCity 3000 Unlimited I have some failed cities I created that I want to delete. However, I can't find them. They show the directory to load them in the game but they are not in that directory on the computer. Does anyone have some ideas where I can find them and delete them? Thanks for your help!

How do I get rid of the "sun reflection" texture on the water?
TheMurderousCricket posted a topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Guys, I'd like to know how can I remove the belt of the sun reflection that goes across the water tiles. The reason is, it completely ruins any attempts at creating the regional screenshots as per chfzdn's tutorial here. As a matter of fact, I can see he was experiencing exact same issue but I don't think it has ever been addressed. From what I can see, it's the sun reflection (overlay?) texture that causes these discrepancies. I want to smite it for good... I want it out! Can you help me? Case study below:- 15 Replies

Negative Radiation Trees (and what happens when you delete one)
jeffryfisher posted a topic in SC4 - Custom Content
Trying to be clever while editing some fruit trees a few months ago, I set each one to emit -1 radiation. That way (I thought), I could plant some around any advanced disease research center to negate its radiation. These trees (lemons etc) also sometimes grow naturally as farm fields. Well as luck would have it, one of my residential areas expanded into some farms, so I bulldozed and dezoned some orchards to make way for a new subdivision. What happened next took me by surprise: My city suddenly acquired 500 radiation, and the new residential lots are in a 12x12 area of crimson-appeal where even R$ refuse to live. I don't understand why the trees would spill radiation when cut down, but I guess that's the way the game works. Now I need some way to clean up the mess without creating yet another thing I can never delete. So rather than another lot, I'm wondering if we can design an ordinance that would clean up some amount of radiation in its city until it's gone, and then I can repeal the ordinance after the radiation is gone. Is that possible? Is there any other way to mop up radiation without leaving behind another time-bomb? -

All cities in region disappeared - region reset to default
KrispyKayak posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Hi all, I recently started playing SimCity 4 again after a long hiatus. I started playing in the default London map, which has two default cities named Kensington and Fulham in it. In this region, I played in both of these cities, started my own third city, and created a fourth but did not build anything in it except for a road. I played in this region for 4-5 days and had no issues at all. Today I loaded the game and everything I built in the region was gone - it looked like I had never built anything in it. Kensington and Fulham were reset to their default builds, and the two cities I had built were gone and replaced with the original "New City" tiles. I looked in the London region folder and saw the files for the cities that I had built, but they were not showing up in the game. I made a copy of the main city I had been building in and put it in a different folder, then pasted it back in the London region folder and started the game again. Still nothing showed up. I then checked the folder again and noticed that my city's file had been removed from the folder, although it was still in the backup folder. I tried this several more times and saw the same result. The other city I had created was not showing up at all after I cut/paste the other city in the folder and restarted the game, and was presumably deleted from the system completely despite my not having deleted the file. Why would my region reset like this? Is my city file salvageable? I noticed that each New City tile in the region folder had a number - I was wondering if I could figure out which number corresponded with which tile if I could just delete that tile and put my city in the folder and then have it work? Maybe it got duplicated somehow and the game is reading the New City file over my city's save file. Also I'd like to know how I can avoid this issue in the future - I was fortunate in that I hadn't built up my region too much and had mostly worked in 2 or 3 tiles, but I don't want my regions in the future to randomly reset like this either. I am running the game on Windows 10, using the digital Steam version of the game, and not using any sort of launcher. I have a few building mods and NAM installed, but I never had an issue like this in the past when I played the game and had the same mods installed. Thanks in advance for your help! -

My City has completely Disappeared! Any idea why this would happen? I copied my city often into another directory in the Region subdirectory. I have always done that after achieving a major milestone and replaced the city when I mess something up too much. But today I find that every past version of this city in my backup folder is completely gone, and not in trash. I wonder if when I chose to Delete the city from the region map (instead of my usual way of just closing the game and pasting a copy of the backup city over top of the original) could have somehow deleted ALL instances of that city found in my Regions Directory, including my Backup subdirectory. Has anyone else ever had this happen? Can anyone shed any light on what really was the cause of the now missing city versions? Thanks!
