The two RL buildings you showed are beautiful, Maxis, meh, not so much, because it seems that most of the delicate embellishments on those buildings were either simplified or talen away completely. What a shame!

It's Chifley Tower, and it's part of the "Chifley Talls Club"... Actually, there's an near exact replica of it on the STEX done by one of the NDEX crew (though it's spelt as Chifly on the STEX).quote> I did not fail that one. Look closer.

By this logic in US every building 3 (and sometimes even 2) stories high is to be considered a high-rise? I seriously doubt that assumption is correct.

You may have already noticed that, but I believe the render below clearly shows where the problems with the shape of your model are coming from. Note that to the overall flowerish shape of the base they added an extra sharp edge on each side of the building, complicating things quite a bit:

OK, now that you compared the two side by side, the original tower on the left appears to be quite assymetrical. If you draw an imaginary vertical line across the two halves of the tower, you will notice (or not! it could just be me!) that the right slope builds up and drops in a very smooth manner, while the left slope appears to drop more drammatically as it builds up closer to the top. Once again, correct me, if such an assymetry does not take place here, guys!

Haha, Simfox. That's possibly one of the nicest insults about my nickname I had to put with for the past two years. Andi, if you are seriously considering to get this done, hell I might even spare a little while to stop by a bakery shop and buy you some chocolate chip cookies!

Simfox. Sorry! Heheh. But for some reason I can't explain, I reserve the right to be a smart-ass time to time. The shape of the tower is such that it's really hard to not to stare at it with your mouth wide open, really amazing. And I think mr. Andisart nailed it perfectly, what a great job you're doing!

Heh, you're making the infamous Gazprom Tower proposed for St Petersburg, aren't you?

Simfox, feel free to correct me, but the Elsinore is probably only 26 storey high, not 35. In any case, I do have a feeling that it is going to fit in together with Chicago-tile buildings quiet nicely.

However, facts and figures tell us otherwise about the economical growth in much of Russia, and other regional centers like Ekatirinburg, Barnaul, and Novosribirsk are really catching up right now. Simfox. I know you're a very usy person and by no means I want to sound pushy, but any chance you are making some of Ekaterinburg-City's high-rises? I think they will look absolutely gorgeous when completed. 'Iset' Tower' 'Ural' 'Gennin' 'Tatishev'

Thanks for this insightful background, Fox. Do you by any chance have plans to model other buildings from the Moscow City set?? City of Capitals, 12 IBC, or perhaps even Russia Tower?

This sweetness is modeled off of the 506m tall Federation Tower which is currently u/c in Moscow!

The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1
plasticboy replied to sparkythepenguin's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Originally posted by: LivingInThePast I am planning to do the mall as is currently. You see, since I happened to leave Simtropolis just as I got BAT, it would be fair to do one last thing before I leave. The mall is the Simtropolis exclusive thing I'd like to work on. There's a few pictures that are pretty good but I'd like some pictures of the back and some of the Target (old Montgomery Ward) there.quote> What are you leaving and what's so "exclusive" about that mall? -

Many of these neighborhood stores here in Minneapolis have tons of kitchy colorful posters hanging from windows and side walls. Perhaps, adding some of those posters/billboards on the sides and on top would help keep the look of your model more realistic, more down-to-earth.
