BAT / Mods for a West Coast/East Asian "Pacificana" Architecture Style?
The Wrench posted a topic in SC4 - Custom Content
So, I decided, after trying futilely trying to build something that I could be satisfied with in Cities: Skylines, I want to go back to SC4. Currently wanted a fusion of American/"Western" and Japanese/"Asian" architecture styles; I'm a sucker for towers like the WTC and the Comcast Innovation Center, but I also like the narrow, densely-packed Japanese streets between the main avenues. I basically know how to obtain the former, but where could I get the latter? Also, are there any inspirations that I can draw inspirations from? Maybe Hong Kong?- 3 Replies

BAT / Mods for a West Coast/East Asian "Pacificana" Architecture Style?
The Wrench replied to The Wrench's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
Well, I wanted to find some Japanese low-rises, like these Japanese low-rises... ...and I want to know if there are sites that could provide Residental/CS sets. As for the style, well, the plan was to mix Japanese/Asian low-rises with Western high-rises (along with a mix of both in mid-rises) in a way that could be anesthically pleasing. So, less architecture per say, and more urban planning, I guess.- 3 Replies

What's the size of your plugins folder?

This poll has not aged well, has it? (Last time I was active in SC4, it was... about 1.6 gigs.) -
So, this is probably the first post where I show something from SC4 on the forum. After a lot of false starts, I think I have a hand on what I want to build. So... here's my first WIP pic on Enterprise (Or its CBD, at least...) I really liked the design of 2 WTC, so I decided to incorporate it here as the centerpiece. The middle AVE-6 setup is inspired by the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia.

So, I've decided to start building a custom airport via RMIP-2 after a few months of playing around on maps. When I was building my ramps, though, I noticed that there's a weird texture on the ramps (non-747): As you can see in the top left corner, there's some strange override that is happening only on full squares; anything smaller than that is fine. I was planning on removing the offending texture, but I'm just not sure which texture it is. I'm suspecting that it's from the SHK Parking Pack; is my hunch right?

RMIP-2: A strange texture override on my ramps...
The Wrench replied to The Wrench's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
Yeah, the culprit's Magneto's sidewalk mod. Thanks for the help, guys. (PS: Do you force the game to load content later by adding 'z____' or something similar after it?) -

I did; it was the JPN Sidewalk Mod. I've already did a clean reinstall of the game + Plugins folder. Let's see if that helps... -

All Maxis have to do is come to STEAM. Isn't Valve a bit overrated? I mean, Gabe is a great CEO, but he's not the miracle man the internet perceived him as. -
What are your favorite (architecturally) default SC4 buildings

Wren Insurance! (Trollololol...) But I have a soft spot for those 1x1 midrises, like MadHatter. And the R$$ highrises, too. -

The problem is some old software is not compatible, especially those that are graphical heavy. Also Surface Pro uses an Intel HD Graphics 4000 (crappy integrated graphics card) which is bad for gaming and the $900 model only comes with 64GBs of storage. I suggest you get a laptop with an i7 processor, with lots of RAM, bigger SSD/HDD, bigger screen and a dedicated graphics card which you can do for under $900 with right brand. Yeah the main reason for getting the surface is the fact that its a tablet, and if I am going to spend 400-1000 I wanted to get one I could also game on. And TBH 64GB should be plenty, even more so you can expand it with a SD card (another 128GB) the games I really want to run in "windows mode" would be AoE2, SC4 & Minecraft... so I really think I'll just have to sit down and play around with it for a few hours. Well have fun! You may have to run Simcity 4 in the lowest setting to get it to work. Wait, WHAT? I am currently running SC4 on the integrated graphics of a first-generation Intel Core i3 processor, and I'm doing OK with the highest settings!

Darn. Got my copy off of a Steam sale. There's nothing wrong with the Steam version of the game. You can set all load parameters under "Properties" "General" in the library. Modding is exactly the same as without Steam. No idea about Win8, though. Yeah, but I still have to access Steam to access SC4. If the Steam servers were to shut down, I can't access the game anymore.

Mmm, I think .exe files (the SC4 appliation, for example) should be able to run on Windows Surface Pro. Isn't the capability to run legacy Windows programs one of the main selling points of the Surface Pro?

Help me pick a ultrabook best for sc4
The Wrench replied to sachizm's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I am currently playing SC4 on a laptop with a first-gen Core i3, and the gameplay could be choppy in large cities with the detail at high with 1600x900,especially with large amounts of cars, but one can manage. -
