Processor HQ: File Processing Info & Discussion
CaptCity replied to Cyclone Boom's topic in The Planning Commission
Ah, thanks. Just saw your edit. That was part of the reason I raised the question. I wasn't sure what to do if others were providing their own files but maybe hadn't re-posted images.- 12 Replies

Processor HQ: File Processing Info & Discussion

I certainly hope that we can get things back as close to what they were before, and the tracker is an excellent tool for reaching that goal. I do, on the other hand, think that the image thing might create sort of a bottleneck if we make it a determining factor in 'releasing' the items. While it would definitely be a positive to have the original creator's material available, it may be difficult to get. Getting images for the thumbnails, at least, might be doable by loading content into the game to make new ones. I had to do that a bit in other efforts to restore some older content. And yes, it is easier said than done - maybe we need a new committee... Anyway, just thinking out loud...- 12 Replies

Processor HQ: File Processing Info & Discussion

Another question rolling around in my head (or just food for thought... or I'm just confused...), are we holding off on removing the banners to make the downloads available until every part of the entries have been replaced? The files, obviously, and the details (information, dependency links, etc.) definitely need to be correct, but I can see trying to get images replaced may be a hold up. I've noticed some banners haven't been removed even after the file is available but maybe not all images are present, so I was wondering at what point should we 'release' the file - when the file has been uploaded and information is verified or when everything is replaced, including images, and it has gone through the verification process? Just looking for input...- 12 Replies

Yes, it would do that. especialy if I made a Word doc or PDF rather than just a text file (although that is rare). I usually focus on the date listed as submitted or last updated for the appropriate file. I almost always downloaded the files within a day or two of being uploaded.- 12 Replies

I've been going through my files and sorting the ones after Feb. 28th into a OneDrive folder similarly to what I did with my other backups that I shared previously. I haven't posted it since I wasn't sure what the plans are to handle those yet. As before, these are mostly as they were uploaded. I do have a habit, at times, of making readmes if they didn't contain one, but I very rarely saved any images. ST Feb-Apr 2026 P.S... As with the others, these are only SC4 files, and some are from the 'Found' club postings and not on the general STEX per se...- 12 Replies

It's on the Restoration Tracker. Using the checkboxes on the right, it will show a pop up with various options including Verify.- 17 Replies

No worries... It looks like the file for the canals had been uploaded but the file for the SC4 Cleanitol link hadn't been done yet. I went ahead and uploaded the one that was missing to version 1.0.2 and cleared that entry. I also fixed the BSC Cleaintol link. However, I am going to call @nos.17 because I do have a newer version of the SC4 Cleanitol that is dated 4/12/2025 but may not have been published yet. Not sure if it was posted yet, so may need more guidance on that one.- 17 Replies

Sharer HQ: File Sharing Collaboration
CaptCity replied to Cyclone Boom's topic in The Planning Commission
I'll post my OneDrive backups files here that myself and a few others have been using. The Simtropolis folder represents what I have that may not have been uploaded yet. Please note that this is a compilation of anything I had saved from 2024 on. It contains more than just STEX files and often multiple versions of the same files. When using items from this compilation for restorations, please be sure to check for the proper file to restore. The Simtropolis - Restored folder represents those that may have already been used. I'm making it available in case of needing any corrections. Feel free to send any questions... Simtropolis 24-26 Simtropolis 24-26 Restored Finally, please copy any files you use. Don't simply remove them from the folders. Oh, yes, these backups only contain SC4 files. Unfortunately, I didn't do any downloading for other games, nor did I download many maps.- 5 Replies

I don't see why not. Just go through the checklist for verification. Even if you verify yourself, it is a two-person process. It will still take another person for the second check. But that's just me talking. I may very well be over-ruled...- 17 Replies

Just a followup... I noticed today that the listing was completely empty. I restored a club file and it displayed as expected, but no others- 1,131 Replies

bugs Simtropolis 9.0.x - Bugs & Issues Report Thread
CaptCity replied to Cyclone Boom's topic in Simtropolis Related
That's good to know. Practically all creators name their creations sufficiently to know what it is. I just add a bit for clarity. Hopefully something can be worked out. This makes me wonder about something else I (and maybe others..?) have seen. A few times (and it seems to be random) the 'New Club Files' listing on the homepage seems to reset to where only one to three items will be listed after previously being full. The rest is blank space. As I've restored club items, the list will fill in as usual, but the previous entries never return. I believe I've seen it four times with time gaps of 2 or 3 days. However, once, it was only a few minutes. Just curious... I just assumed it was a 'hiccup'...- 1,131 Replies

Oh ummm... Then this means that, as we restore items, we'll need to be sure to rename things to the exact way they had been? I admit I will often rename a file so that it 'fits' my filing system, aaaaaand I haven't always renamed them when I restore them... They're always close but maybe not exact... Guess I'll have to keep that in mind.- 1,131 Replies
