simtropolis Terrible News: Cori has gone
Coretz replied to Cyclone Boom's topic in Simtropolis Related
I've never known anyone here personally, as I just never felt like socializing. However, there is a very short list of names of persons I've thought about when /not/ doing something SimCity related: SimGoober, RafaelNinja, A Nonny Moose, and Cyclone Boom and Corina Marie. I wasn't even on the internet when SG and RN were doing their thing, but their files were some of the first I ever downloaded. I never personally knew Nonny Moose, but I saw that he had quite an impact as a beloved member of the community. And Corina has made Simtropolis feel just as lively as ever: with Cori around, I feel that SimCity could never die. In fact, just the other day I was thinking "maybe I should finally say something on the STEX... maybe I should ask Cori what she thinks of my current city?" Just because I don't have a personal connection with someone doesn't mean I can't appreciate what a vital part of a community they are. Not only that, but I can say that Cori (and of course Cyclone) have made my own experience on the site better, just by keeping the site in good order and making improvements everywhere. Cori, I do hope you're able to pull through whatever happened. And the rest of STEX, I feel for you. I hope you all have not lost one of the best people in the community.- 60 Replies

Hey DrWatson, One truck at a time. When the ladder truck is finished, I will release it as a separate mod and will start on a truck similar to this. I really like these, but I only know of them used in airports. Any info on residential use of these style trucks? Thanks! Parker You could put these for the Hazmat unit. These trucks are too big and bulky for residential fires, however, they have /a lot/ of foam and can be found on contingency plans for industrial fires if they are around, though are called on a "Only call if you're in /really/ deep fire". Other uses for these trucks is in offroad fire fighting, as used listings for these specialized vehicles advertise their great ability to go on rough terrain. The vehicles are designed to be able to drive any direction at a 30 degree angle, including sideways (I mean, driving laterally on a hill) and the current trucks have independent suspense and an articulated body that makes going up a hill like driving over a minor speed bump. A totally awesome ARFF Airport Crash Truck video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCEaFhSdo88 I tried to find another video where a crash truck had responded to an industrial fire, but after an hour of searching Ic an't seem to find it. sad day.

SimCity (2013) Official Mod Request Thread
Coretz replied to Cockatoo's topic in SimCity (2013) Modding - Open Discussion
I wanted to do something like this too, so what I did is I put a small park by the road, edited it out so that I added, say, a couple rows of tress to where I wanted to put a pond, then demolished the rows of trees. Later I added university pedestrian paths to give the large "park" the feel I wanted. It actually turned out nice! <image removed to save space> Do you have still the "Parks on Pedestrian" Mod? Could you send a copy to me? I can't find it on Simtropolis... I didn't use that mod. I simply add a park, expanded it, removed all the expansions except the one I wanted to keep, and drew a road around the park. I could make a youtube video if you want more clarification. Also, apologies for taking a couple months to respond. -

For some reason software rendering increases performance, but also decreases the GFX. I really wish there were some way for Sim City to multithread, even if just the plugins (like NAM) could be on a separate thread. What makes me unhappiest is that even though I've got a quad core 3.3 GHz, only 1/4th of it is used, and even I lag. Windows XP Pro x64 Intel Core i5-2500K (maybe I should overclock it) 2x4GB RAM nVidia GTX 550 Ti Western Digital Enterprise 1TB hard drive One would think my computer is overkill...
