That's what my plan was at first, to make the lot and then afterwards make it transit enabled. But i thought i could match up all the textures i needed in the lot editor but seems like i don't have matching ones, and that's where my problem started to arrise... I never have made textures myself and just did a quick check on the tutorial which is in the onmibus, but ill give it a go when i got the time to do so.... But thanks for pointing this out to me AIX, this gives me a new insight on the matter at hand.- 79 Replies

RHW lot addition in the making but need help... Hi there folks, I just started to create a lot that will be a nice addition to the RHW... but i ran stuck on it and i've at it for several hours now. My problem is that i can find any matching textures (may it be overlay or base textures) make it all matching up, seems like im missing some textures but i have no idea on where to get them if they exist... Im not that of an expert in lotmaking, sure i've made some lots in the past but they were quite simple to do... but now it seems to get more complicated with this project i just started... That's why im asking if anyone can help me out in finding the matching textures or create them for me? Here are some pictures to see what im working on and what i want to achieve... This is one of the examples i want to achieve, only need the rhw/road textures for this So if anyone can help me out, i would really be gratefull for this...- 79 Replies

The Spike Heard 'Round the Region
Thunderman commented on SimCoug's City Journal Entry in New SorGun
Man! Im in love with this cj!, It's such a tedious job to build things at this pace... I'd wished i would have the peace to do such a thing. I love how u begin small and build things at a small tedious way... Also love how u make ur own custom lots! Your doing a way better job than the average player out there :D Keep it up! Big Thumbs up from the Netherlands! -
OMG! My jaw just dropped onto my desk! So much details!!! Wish i could do the same :S But instead my cities always make profit at first then after awhile they run into debt while i try to keep a balance between a profit making city and a beautiful nicely designed one... great work on this FOX! U keep me inspired!

In this article, I will give you several options that you can use in keeping SC4 running as smoothly as possible... General Overview -- Keep your plugins folder organized -- Kill processes before running your game -- Disable disturbing programs Keep your plugins folder organized This is a very common method of use by several SC4 gamers... The example I will provide below is just give you an idea on how to structure your plugin folder using several trees/maps... To organize your plugin folder, just move everything to a temporary folder anywhere on your system. SimCity has 2 plugins folder in use: My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins Program Files/SimCity 4/ PluginsNow what you should know is that SimCity 4 uses the "My Documents" folder as your primary folder. This means that when you start the game, every lots/BAT's/props/ texture placed in that folder will override any existing ones that sit in the "program files" folder if you've got duplicated ones sitting in there... Now, we can use various methods on how to organize your folder, but it's all up to you on how to do this... I will give the example that I use. It is very easy to understand and with this way you will find the files you are looking for very fast... I use only the "My Documents" folder. The "program files" folder is out of use by me... because it is the secondary folder used by SimCity. Here's my structured example of the folder: =>Simcity 4/Plugins Mods Lots Props As you can see, I have divided the map in three general maps, mods, lots, and props... With this you can easily divide it into different categories. Now lets go on further, we'll take the Lots map now for example: =>Simcity 4/Plugins/Lots ADC Andreas Apathyninja Brenda_xne BRF BSC BuddybudIn this map I made several submaps with the name of the author of the lots. With this method, you always know from which lots is made by who... Now lets take the first one out of the lots maps to see what to do next: =>Simcity 4/Plugins/Lots/ADC Rail Signal Bridge As you see, I also made another submap with the name of the lot itself! With this you now always know the name of the lot... This method is very useful if you are a BAT or lot builder, because you always get to know the name of the author and the name of the lot itself, which will result in finding a certain lot or BAT for editing faster ... Now when you've down all this by hand, and the next time you download something from the STEX, you may come across the auto installers (also known as .exe or executable files) that are used by certain authors. You only have to point out where it has to install those files if you use this sorting files system... Kill processes before running your game Before you start running your game, it can be wise to kill certain processes which are running in the background. This way you save valuable memory that Simcity can use during gameplay... I will explain how to approach this... First, you'll need to press CTRL + ALT + DELETE just once! Don't press it more than once, because that will trigger an action which will result that your computer rebooting. And we don't want to do that! When you've pressed those keys I just mentioned, a small popup window will appear with several Tabs... It's called Windows Task Manager. Click on the Processes Tab page... In this Tab you'll see several processes that are running in the background of Windows... Below I've provided a small list of processes that may not or can not be killed because they are essential for Windows itself... You may also notice that certain processes cannot be killed for what ever the reason may be. But that's not crucial for our goal, so leave those alone... Csrss.exeExplorer.exe Internat.exe Lsass.exe Mstask.exe Smss.exeSpoolsv.exe Svchost.exe Services.exe System.exe System Idle Process Taskmgr.exe Winlogon.exe Winmgmt.exe Note: For more information on these default processes, you can visit this Microsoft Knowledge Base article: http://support.micro...b;en-us;Q263201 (windows 2000/XP) Disable disturbing programs As you may know, certain programs can cause conflicts while running a game or gives an annoying side effect to the game. What I recommend is that you kill/shutdown the programs which are not needed when you run a game. Below I've stated some programs which can cause conflicts with SC4... Please note: not all programs are listed, only the ones that I can think off... Screensavers These are very annoying while playing a game! Internet Connection Kill your Internet connection(s) while running SC4, because you won't need it! (this is not the case when you're on a LAN connection) Antivirus Software These are very memory consuming while running a game! MSN Messenger Don't you hate it when someone is talking to you while playing a game?! ;-) Firewall Software These are very memory consuming while running a game! (see also Internet connection!) I think you get my point with all of this: the more programs you shut down, the better. It's just to give you more fun gameplay experience and it will give you more memory to play with, because we all know that SimCity 4 is very memory consuming! Now, If this article raises any questions you can contact me anytime by sending me a Private Message. Thunderman Also, feel free to PM STomnibus for questions regarding this article.

First of all welcome to the forums.... Secondly, I would advise you to read this first, it saves you alot of troubles like you're having now... Howto: Stex, lots bats and maps And ofcourse most files that are hosted here on simtrop need dependencies which are mostly described in the readme's included in those files, so always read those... Hope this could help you.

Damn, thats looks quite awesome! One tip though about something i noticed on your last picture, if i were you, i would download and install a "jagged edges mod" from Jeronij or so, cause it doesn't do any justice to your cities ;-)
-
Do you get this problem when u are using Winrar? Or is it only that specific file? Some other option might be to try and use WinZIP, install that and try it again... And some word of advise, if you are getting alot pc problems, it might be usefull to do a clean re-install of your windows... It solves alot of problems in a bang :-)
-
Problem, texture error maybe?
Thunderman replied to jack14112's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
The option gives the game to choose if it has to be rendered all the graphics from your videocard (hardware mode) or from its software (software mode). this option comes mostly in handy when your videocard is behaving badly (especially usefull when u have an old "outdated" videocard. If you are getting these "glitches", it's usually a small sign that your videocard is getting old and might be needed to be replaced. You know for sure when u get this with other games as well.. -
Interview with Dirk, The Dirktator of Simtropolis. The most loved man of the Simtropolis community, and founder of the Simtropolis site as we know it today. Interview with Dirk, Founder of Simtropolis.com - Interview conducted by Thunderman So Dirk, when and how was the idea born which began the Simtropolis site? I guess it was November, 2002 on a dark and stormy night... Conspiring with my cohorts from the SimGolf community, we started a SimCity 4 forum with the colourful name of "Simcity-4.net"! At the time, with months before the actual release of Simcity 4, 95% of the chatter on the forum belonged to the five of us. It was kinda silly but really fun. Simtropolis eventually emerged from just a forum to an information site, with a little luck and some help from others, we started making some ripples in the SimCity community. I won't forget how back in our early days, big sites like SimGothia helped us make a name for ourselves. Which part of simtropolis do you like the most? Forums! Naturally, to me they are the most involved, the most interesting and the most engaging part of the site. Our community *was* our forums, this was before any "ST Exchange" was ever built. I still think it's true today. Forums are where I met all my closest online buddies. Forums are the root of everything at Simtropolis, it's where the greatest minds of Simcity met, and together, formed some of the greatest modding groups ever seen in the entire history of the internet! Ok, so forgive me for hyperbolizing, but I'm really proud of our forum community! What are your best memories and/or events that you've seen on this site during all those years? The Simtropolis Star is by far a highlight. Some of the Moderators and Admins conspired one Christmas to officially register with the International Star Registry, a star called "Simtropolis". That was pretty sweet. When Maxis flew Rybolton and I down to visit them in their Oakland office was a good time. Not only did I get to meet Rybo himself, but we got to hang with the development team and sit and chat with the father of SimCity himself, Will Wright. We came back with photos, stories, screenshots the first previews of Rush Hour for the community. Also, being able to meet the webmaster of SimGothia in person was pretty cool too. The three of us drove around San Francisco all night, which was a blast. Do you have any idea on how this site has become so popular, looking at a listing of 100.000(!) members? Build it and they will come! They come for the great collection of user-created lots, buildings, maps and mods of course! Thankfully, a lot of people love building stuff for other people to download, and there are a lot of people who love downloading! Of course, our forums are still thriving, with a few hundred regular members and lurkers logged on daily. What is the worst thing you've seen happen with or on the Simtropolis site? Sure, we get some high-drama on here from certain characters, but they are just part of the ebb and flow of virtual life, and it's easy to deal with it. The scary day when we had our bandwidth plug pulled was a pretty grim one. So I guess anything that brings us close to inexistence is pretty lousy. Have you ever made a City journal by yourself? And if not, are you planning to make one? Nope, never made a City Journal. I get a kick out of seeing how other people build their cities. The truth is, I feel wholly under qualified to post a City Journal! What do you do in real life besides web mastering Simtropolis? For work, I am the art director for an interactive media company. I'm a big gamer, I'm on Xbox Live, if anyone wants to buddy up some time, just PM me! How much time do you spend working on the Simtropolis site? I get a lot of help from the other Admins, Moderators, and Chat Ops on day to day maintenance, and it's usually minimal, and we typically have a lot of fun, though some of the tasks are pretty thankless, I'm really grateful for the staff for their daily work. Simtropolis is almost going into it's fourth year, do you have any new ideas or big plans for the site for the upcoming year? Oh yes, as has always been the case, each year comes another major revision and/or redesign. When exactly, I can't say (I just don't know, not trying to be mysterious) but you can expect a point-five update to the site in the coming weeks. What do you find more important in life? Your work, or Simtropolis? Well, work pays the bills and keeps me fed and sheltered and financially stable so that is somewhat important. I'm usually never far from Simtropolis, regardless of what's happening in life. As I've said before, Simtropolis has turned into my own version of a Simcity game. If you were to be stranded on a desert island with 5 ST members, who would they be and why? Let's see, my closest online friends, Skigeek, Rybolton, RalphaelNinja, Aronion and Samantha! Maybe being stranded on a deserted island with them would be kinda fun... and if the numbers 4,8,15,16,23,42 appeared that would be doubly interesting! If you'd compare all the Simcity editions that Maxis have produced so far, which edition('s) do you like the most and why? For the sake of nostalgia, my favourite edition would be Simcity 2000. I have fond memories of skipping school to stay home and build roads and lay down water pipes! Do you read some of the City Journals, and if so, which one(s) do/did you liked the most??? In the early days, I read almost every one. I don't have as much time, but I do have a few I read. The ones I enjoy the most are those with a unique presentation, with insane level of detail that I always appreciate. I like the ones where the author creates newspapers, ads, drama, and all the little extras that go beyond the game itself. City Journals with high humour are also my favourites. Which BATS/LOTS do you like in particurly? And why? I like recreations of real-world buildings. I'd like to eventually have almost every major world structure BATted and in our STEX! And final question: Would you like to take this opportunity to say/comment anything to the Simtropolis Community? What can I say? Thanks for making this community great and fun! Thanks to all the contributors who give us something new on a daily basis. Thanks to all the donors who help keep this little city of ours operating! And thank YOU for reading this, as I'm sure there could have been a dozen other better things worth doing! Cheers! Thank You Dirk, for taking your precious time for this interview, we all hope that this site may live long and prosper!

I created my nickname to the "Thunderdome" Cd Series... When I was around the age of 15, I listened most of my time to Hardcore House music... The Thunderdome Cd has found it's origin here in The Netherlands and started as a simple after-school party, but grew huge in a short amount of time... I liked the music, and created my nick about this popular party. The Thunderdome party are now most known worldwide in the underground hardcore scene...
