The Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team presents Lippo Centre BAT created by paulvmontfort & SimFox Modding, lot design, readme & custom menu icons by T Wrecks Check out the Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team Room at Simtropolis Introduction / Overview This new HKABT release is -barring some liberties at the base, mostly in context with pedestrian bridges- the accurate recreation of one of Hong Kong's most characteristic buildings, Lippo Centre. These twin towers with their highly complex shape and their reflective glass cladding broken into many surfaces are by far not the tallest in Hong Kong, topping out at 172 metres. However, since their erection in 1988, they have formed one of Hong Kong's landmarks of modern architecture. The towers have been nicked "Koala Tree" or "Koala Buildings" because their shape resembles Koala bears climbing two tree trunks. This BAT is more than just another building for your plugins folder; it is also a medium to apply and demonstrate many new BATting techniques. The superior possibilities of 3DSMax were taken to new levels; a structure like this would not have been possible with gmax. Reflections, bump maps on the windows, a waterfall made from particles and an entirely new nightlighting technique are just some of the novel elements introduced with this building. This way, it is almost a feasibility study - but one you can enjoy in your city just like any other building, without the slightest drawbacks. The model was made by paulvmontfort and is, in fact, the third (and quite probably last) attempt at recreating this building. SimFox contributed many new techniques, refinements, additions and ideas, so that the model you see is actually the result of a teamed effort. For the game, Lippo Centre has been modded as a medium-wealth commercial office building (CO§§) in order to help alleviate the definite shortage of good CO§§ BATs for SC4. Sitting on a rather unique 7x4 lot, it provides 5,250 jobs. A ploppable version with jobs and a regular landmark are also available and included in this package. In total, the following versions are available: Ploppable landmark (7x4 lot) Ploppable functional CO$$ (7x4 lot) Growable CO$$ building (7x4 lot) As usual, you will find the menu icons of ploppable and landmark versions conveniently grouped together, the ploppable version being marked with "CO§§". The Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team presents 1 International Finance Center (1IFC) BAT created by paulvmontfort Modding, lot design, readme & custom menu icons by T Wrecks Check out the Hong Kong /Asia BAT Team thread at Simtropolis Introduction / Overview The lower one of the two International Finance Center (IFC) buildings in Hong Kong is also the older one, completed in 1998. In a city like Hong Kong, its height of 210 meters (689 ft) isn't even enough to get into the top 10 any longer, but its still belongs to the most characteristic buildings in Hong Kong. One of its most striking features is the circular, windowless base. This BAT is an accurate recreation of the real-life building although the elevated walkways that lead into the building are not included in this BAT rendition. The building sits on a rather tight and compact lot. Depending on your taste, you may either find that it looks best in a dense downtown due to the odd base section, or that precisely the base section makes it interesting enough to be placed as a singular building at an exposed location. However, there is no plaza or park around the base to allow for maximum flexibility (if you want a park or plaza around it, you can always make it yourself). 1IFC has been modded to serve three functions: Ploppable landmark Ploppable functional CO$$$ Growable CO$$$ All lots share the same basic design, but flora and people on it are randomized and will change every time the building grows or is plopped. Note: Ploppable and landmark versions feature individual custom menu icons that will allow you to see immediately which version is which. Moreover, both versions are to be found conveniently grouped together near the bottom of your landmark menu. Dependencies None - everything is included! Stats and Values All game-relevant values you might like to know are listed in the following overview tables. TABLE 1: FUNCTIONAL VERSIONS Parameter Growable Ploppable with jobs Occupants: 4,100 CO$$$ (5,800 CO$$ when dilapidated) 4,100 CO$$$ (5,800 CO$$ when dilapidated) Lot Sizes / Growth Stage: 3x3 (stage 8) 3x3 n/a Zone Type: Dense commercial n/a Tileset(s): Euro n/a Value: § 35,476 § 35,476 Worth / Bulldoze Cost: § 2 -

The Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team presents One Pacific Place Part of the Pacific Place Complex (Hong Kong) BAT created by paulvmontfort Modding, lot design, readme & custom menu icons by T Wrecks Check out the Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team Room at Simtropolis Introduction / Overview This building belongs to the Pacific Place Complex in Hong Kong (China). Pacific Place is a huge complex composed of five main buildings: Island Shangri-La Hotel, Conrad International Hotel, 3 Pacific Place, J.W. Marriott Hotel, and 1 Pacific Place. Most of the buildings mainly house hotels, but there are also apartments, offices and a huge shopping center inside the real-world complex. Pacific Place was built in three phases. J.W. Marriott and One Pacific Place were erected in the first phase of construction (1988), Conrad and Shangri-La Hotel in the second (1991), and 3 Pacific Place in the third (2004). One Pacific Place is the lowest building of the complex; it tops out at 162 m (531 ft) and offers 40 storeys of office space. Due to the relative lack of CO$$ BATs and since the rather simple shape and appearance of 1 PP prevent it from looking too flashy for this category, it has been modded as CO$$ (medium-wealth commercial office). In total, the following versions are available: Ploppable landmark (4x3 lot) Ploppable functional CO$$ (4x3 lot) Growable CO$$ building (4x3 lot) Dependencies Custom Textures: none! Jardine House Hong Kong ---A Hong Kong BAT Team production--- B.A.T. created by paulvmontfort Modding, custom menu icons & readme by T Wrecks This file has been updated with better graphics and the zoom 3 nightlight problem has been solved! INTRODUCTION This building is the SC4 recreation of the identically named real-world building located in Hong Kong, China. For SimCity 4, it has been modded to suit as many playing styles as possible. In total, you will find: - a regular growable CO§§ lot, - a ploppable CO§§ lot with jobs, - a regular growable CO§§§ lot, - a ploppable CO§§§ lot, and - a "vanilla" landmark lot. All stats and details below... INSTALLATION / DEPENDENCIES Just copy the building model file and the sub-folders for the desired versions to your plugins folder. In order to keep your plugins folder tidy, it's a good idea to make a folder for Jardine House and drag whatever version(s) you want to use into that folder. Please do not copy this readme file and/or the screenshots into your plugins folder; they are not needed by the game and may slow down your computer. The lots have no external dependencies at all! STATS In the following lists, you will find all game-relevant stats and values of the different versions. This building has been carefully tweaked to match standard Maxis buildings as closely as possible, so that it doesn't unbalance the game or cause any undesired effects. _________________________________ GROWABLE CO-§§ VERSION ( medium-wealth commercial office ) This version can be built automatically by your sims if the required growth stage is reached, the correct tileset is active, appropriate zoning is provided and favourable growth conditions apply (attractivity, demand) - just like any in-game growable building. The Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team presents Grand Terrace BAT created by paulvmontfort Modding, lot design, readme & custom menu icon by T Wrecks Check out the Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team room at Simtropolis Introduction / Overview This is a recreation of Grand Terrace, a residential tower from Western/Central Hong Kong, CN. The building was finished in 2001 and is composed of a rather massive base with integrated parking garage, on top of which a split tower rises to roughly 147 metres. This BAT recreation will bring Grand Terrace to your cities as a high-wealth residential building or as a static landmark. Both versions are intended for use on corners (although the landmark version can of course be placed anywhere you like) and feature a transit-enabled street entrance that visually connects to the driveway on the lot which leads to the parking garage. The building doesn't work as a transit switch or hub in any way, though, so the connection is merely eye candy. Inside this ZIP archive, you will find the following versions: ploppable landmark (transit-enabled) growable R$$$ (transit-enabled) A quick reminder about transit-enabled lots: Connecting the lots to your traffic network wherever possible is optional, and not connecting them will not affect the functionality of the building. Please remember that once a transit-enabled growable lot has grown, it cannot be overgrown by other lots automatically, i.e. once it's there, it will stay there forever unless you bulldoze it. Dependencies Props: BSC Mega Props CP Vol.01 Textures: BSC Mega Textures Vol.01 Other: SimFox Day 'n' Nite Modd 1 (Otherwise the building will look odd at night - if you only play in day mode anyway, you can ignore this dependency) Stats and Values All game-relevant values you might like to know are listed in the following overview tables. Please note that all versions of this building share the same set of statistics. TABLE 1: GROWABLE VERSION Parameter Growable R$$$ Occupants: 2,438 R$$$ (4,216 R$$ / 8,259 R$ when dilapidated) Lot Size / Growth Stage: 5x5 right corner / stage 8 Zone Type: Dense residential Tileset(s): Euro Value: § 70,155 Worth / Bulldoze Cost: § 1,500 Flammability: 35 / Stage 5 Power consumed: 120 MWh/month Water consumed: 280 gallons/month Air pollution: 23 over 6 tiles Water pollution: 21 over 7 tiles Garbage generated: 6 tons/month TABLE 2: LANDMARK Parameter LANDMARK Lot Size 5x5 Menu Position: Landmarks, near bottom Plop Cost: § 100,000 Maintenance Cost: § 150/month Landmark Effect: + 50 over 25 tiles Park Effect: none Mayor Rating Effect: +10 over 256 tiles Worth / Bulldoze Cost: § 1,500 Flammability: 35 / Stage 5 Power consumed: 120 MWh/month Water consumed: 280 gallons/month Air pollution: 23 over 6 tiles Water pollution: 21 over 7 tiles Garbage generated: 6 tons/month Installation First of all, it is recommended to unzip the entire content of this ZIP into some archive folder where you keep all building versions, readme, and screenshots, and maybe even back it up onto a CD or an external HD together with your other SC4 stuff. This way, if you need to clean your HD and reinstall your OS, you can simply copy the stuff from your backup archive into your plugins folder instead of having to download all plugins anew. That said, in order to use this building in game, I suggest you first go to your plugins folder and make a sub-folder for this download. Then, simply copy the .sc4model file(s) (the actual building model) plus the lot file(s) of whatever version(s) you'd like to use into the newly created folder. To uninstall a version you don't like after it has grown in your cities, first bulldoze all instances of that version in your cities, then save the cities and exit. Now you can safely remove the version without running any risk to experience crashes or any other inconvenience. T Wrecks on behalf of the Hong Kong BAT Team Saturday, June 25, 2011. -

The Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team presents International Commerce Centre (ICC) BAT created by paulvmontfort Modding, lot design, readme & custom menu icon by T Wrecks Check out the Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team room at Simtropolis Note: If you already installed the previous version you only need to overwrite the .sc4model file! I also noticed something went wrong in the previous model causing the night fsh's to be doubled. That problem is fixed in this one so the filesize is a lot smaller. I'll fix the other version soon. Introduction / Overview This is a recreation of International Commerce Centre, currently (2010) the tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong with a height of 484 metres. The real-world building is situated in Union Square on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour. With this download, you can add one of the world's tallest buildings to your SimCity, but you better reserve some space, because this baby is BIG! In total, you will find the following versions: ploppable landmark (transit-enabled) growable CO$$$ (transit-enabled) Note: This structure is almost too big for SC4, hence the number of jobs that the CO$$$ version holds is actually rather small compared to the size of the building. On the other hand, it may be hard to grow even with this occupant number; going even higher might have made it impossible to grow. Should you encounter problems getting this building to grow, I recommend using the Extra Cheats dll to plop it by means of the "buildingplop" cheat. A quick reminder about transit-enabled lots: Connecting the lot to your traffic network wherever possible is optional, and not connecting them will not affect the functionality of the building. Please remember that once a transit-enabled growable lot has grown, it cannot be overgrown by other lots automatically, i.e. once it's there, it will stay there forever unless you bulldoze it. Since ICC is a rather unique building and its lot size is rather exotic, this shouldn't be a problem, though. The Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team presents Bank of China Tower V2 BAT created by paulvmontfort Modding, lot design, custom query & custom menu icons by HONG KONG readme by HONGKONG & paulvmontfort Introduction / Overview This is version 2 of the building. It includes better renders and a dark night version! It is strongly recommended to delete any previous versions before you install this version!! - Construction of this tower was started on 18th April, 1985 and the official opening ceremony was held on 17th May, 1990. - Grouping of four triangular glass and aluminum towers of varying heights that emerge from a granite podium. - The changes in geometry, from a square base through several geometric changes to a single spire, result in a multifaceted facade of angles and profiles that reflect the light and seem almost crystalline in composition. - The silver reflective glass is glazed in a low maintenance dry gasket system, and the curtain wall is a unitized design assembled off-site under factory conditions. This enabled close quality control of all aspects of the frame assembly, which numbers over 10,000 pieces in total. - The megastructural steelwork is expressed externally by naturally anodized panels that form part of the curtainwall. - Virtually every aspect of this building was challenging from moving material to a height never before achieved outside of the USA, to glazing the largest 25mm thick pattern cut lights ever produced. All required not only careful planning but also the development of new erection techniques. - The inspiration of the design of the BOC is derived from the elegant poise of bamboo; its sectioned trunk being propelled higher and higher by each new growth. The BOC Tower is symbolic of strength, vitality and growth. - Tallest building in Hong Kong and Asia from 1989 to 1992, until the completion of Central Plaza. - First composite megastructure space frame high-rise building. - Replaced Hopewell Centre as the tallest building in Hong Kong when completed. - It was the first building outside the United States to break the 1000 foot mark. That also means it was the tallest outside America from its completion year, 1990, through the completion year of Central Plaza, 1992. - The topping out ceremony was held on 8 August 1988, which is the century's most auspicious date. - This building is one of buildings involved in the Hong Kong Tourism Commission's Victoria Harbour Lighting Plan. - This BAT is an accurate recreation of the real-life building. BOC has been modded to serve three functions: Ploppable landmark Ploppable functional CO$$$ Growable CO$$$ Note: Ploppable and landmark versions feature individual custom menu icons that will allow you to see immediately which version is which. Choose which files you want. For the Maxis night version, copy the 'Maxis night' folder. For the Dark night version, copy the 'Dark night' folder into your plugin folder. It is generally recommendable to unzip the entire download into a backup folder first and then copy only those files that you want into a sub-folder inside your main plugins folder. This procedure makes it easier to keep full control and leave out files that are not required in game, such as this readme and the screenshots. To uninstall a version you don't like, first bulldoze all instances of that version in your cities, then save the cities and exit. Now you can safely remove the version without running any risk to get crashes or facing any other inconvenience. HONG KONG & PaulvMontfort on behalf of the Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team 24, 11, 2009. -

I agree with cockatoo all the way. I never used 133% scaling in any of my bats. It just looks too stretched (like your model as well, skyscraper) and that is far more important than having a 100% accurate representation in my opinion. Due to the shear size of the stuff I usually model, they don't look as squashed in 100% and i therefor don't scale them. The squashing is more pronounced in smaller bats like my Eindhoven collection. For that reason I've been scaling them to 120% which gets rid of the squashing but at the same time doesn't stretch them too much. I don't care it's against the standard, it just looks better.

I know that Kellydale. I made sure to keep a distance between the illuminating planes and the rest of the geometry, which minimized the problem. Still you can see some of the mullions lit up on the outside.. I use 3ds Max Design 2011 32 bit for my renders -

well, what i did is ditch lights altogether which increases rendering times dramatically. What i'm using instead in that little test setup is a multi-sub material with 4 arch&design materials with self-illumination enabled and luminescence ranging from 0 to 1000 (0, 300, 700 1000). this material is applied to the ceiling of each room inside the building together with a MaterialbyElement modifier to randomize the light levels. Instead of using displacement maps, i made a box inside the building with the map i normally use for nightlighting the scene, in the transparency slot. The advantage of this is that additional rendering time is minimized but the glowing material seams prone to light leaks. -

well the thing is that I'm afraid that i can't render very large projects packed with photometric lights so i'm looking for alternatives. I also would like to hear the opinion from others but it appears this thread kinda goes unnoticed sometimes -

I'll look into it darn. For now i wanted to present some research results. I was reading about kellydale's new night lighting technique and i slightly adapted my own ideas into it. The advantage of my method is that i do not use displacement maps nor photo-metric lighting. In fact, the only light in the scene is the one from the bat rig. Also the only difference between the day and night scene is that i unhid some objects for the night scene. All materials are the same. Please tell me what you think of it. Does it look realistic, or could it be improved? -

Hmm after a closer look i noticed the pool floor wasn't rendering when the water was in it, hence the dark color. It has been fixed now . As for the floor material, here's a picture of the real thing: I think it is actually pretty close to the real thing, but if you have any suggestions I would like to hear them -

It's about time for another update. I have to confess that my interest in this building is a bit on the low side at the moment. There are a lot of small details that have to be done and it isn't really fun to do. I'm determined to finish it though so don't worry . -

I solved the problem. Apparently, the settings on my graphics card which I had specifically assigned to minecraft only where bugging. I switched the settings back to default and everything is fine! -

thanks everyone , i rendered it out yesterday to see how it looks ingame. To me it blends in perfectly although i had some glitch i never had before in simcity. Some buildings were transparent and got drawn in front of other buildings while they actually were behind those buildings :S. Anyhow, if you have any suggestions at this point, please let me know. If there are none, i'll continue with nightlighting -
