Yeah...so...you could probably do something like this in SC4 too. Is this suppose to be interesting??? Maybe if they didn't spend years building games with complex online crap that no one wanted (SC5 anyone?) then maybe they'd keep costs down! Go back to making cheap and quick (relatively speaking) offline games - despite what EA reps might think, online everything is NOT the future. Besides people who by those silly little app games aren't usually real gamers anyway so I doubt thats it.

Actually I quite enjoyed SC4 vanilla, there was little wrong with what was in it - it just needed a bit more. This new game is completely different because it's missing vast amounts of what we wanted, like rctshack said - this is just a 'sim game' now not simcity. Its clearly designed for 10 year olds who play their tacky "Sims" series, not the people who grew up with Simcity 2000 like me.

Exactly! me too. The last true SimCity will be SC4, from now on everything they do is going to be all dumbed-down 'online social bs'. About time everyone else has finally realised this.

- No silly little gimiks (Llamas etc). - Expandable airports & seaports. - No unrealistically-brightly coloured buildings (lego-style buildings). - Realistic scale i.e. no skyscrapers in a city the size of a town (SC4 does this scale well except for the fact that you can get houses inside the CBD) - Better/More Stadiums & Arenas (and not just American-style ones either) - Sunken highways - European, East Asian, North & South American architecture sets - Shiny, realistic-looking textures and graphics. - Inbuilt modding system like CIV 5 has. - Terraformer that creates random maps and realistic looking custom ones (the only way to get SC4 maps looking right is to import a greyscale image). - Politics: Customizable government and society eg. Democracy/Liberal/Nationalistic/Socialist/monoculture/multiculture. Maybe add the legalization or banning of controversial issues. - No global warming - Man-made global warming is an unproven theory (and a dubious one if you ask me). I know you Californian maxis people won't want to hear that but please recognise that not everyone buys into it like you do. Unfortunately from the look of the screenshots/trailers released so far not one of the above has been included, in fact they almost seem to have done the opposite. Thus I'm not holding my breath for this game - in fact they should probably just call it "Simcity Societes 2" from the looks of it. Edit: Oh and please add an offline mode!!! I will NOT buy this game if it is online only - not negotiable. -

What is with all the 'I love the cartoony look' comments??? I guess I must be in a small minority of people who were actually hoping for a realistic look, not another babyish rendition of a classic game. It looks like SC Societies 2.0, I'll wait until the final cut is released before I declare it a complete failure, but I really hope they get rid of the 'tilt-shift' look - it just makes it look like a 5-year old's playset. Some better texturing wouldn't go a miss too. Also what genius decided to make it multiplayer? (EA I'm guessing) It's suppose to be Simcity! not "The Sims". -

Awesome man, that's got to be one of the most realistic simcity regions I've ever seen. I'll have to download those farms too, they look way better than the ones I've got - You couldn't post a link to them could you?

It is a bit of an assumption but it really does look like it will be a child's game at this point. Hope I'm wrong but we'll see.

Well it looks like I might have to agree with some of the other posters here - this looks almost as cartoony as SC Societies. I sincerely hope they intend to clean up the graphics so they look more realistic before the game is released, otherwise I'll stick with SC4 thanks. I was really just hoping for SC4 but with better graphics and a few gameplay enhancements, but it looks like Maxis is content on creating more childish games that are no challenge or fun for anyone over 12.

Hi all I've been running SC4 RH for months now with no problems, however the other day I brought a new monitor (1920x1080 Res) to replace my old 1360x768 Res monitor - and now the game won't open. It just comes up with an error saying "SimCity 4 will run with the software driver when next launched". So far all the usual solutions like re-installing the game, trying different compatibility modes and forcing it to run in 640x480 res haven't done a thing. I'm guessing it's a resolution problem. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? It's really annoying, especially when I've spent about 8 months on and off building a region with 450,000 sims.

I've just re-installed it and that fixed it. Must have reset everything the correct size.

Unfortunately their doesn't seem to be any 3D Controls section in my Catalyst Control Center (that I can find anyway). Where do you find it?

Its windows 7, Graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 5670. The audio is definitely connected. Not sure how to "Check all your graphics settings in your graphics controller".
