No - it's just an example of a theatre roof.

Hmm... here's a bad pic showing the roof of Chicago Theater.

I'm pretty sure that fountain is Buckingham Fountain in Chicago. I have BATted it, search for it on the STEX. (shameless self-plug, lol) So - the Regal looks amazing. If you'd like, you can have two different versions - one that randomizes, and one that doesn't.

Boston Central Artery/Tunnel Project (Big Dig)
ardecila replied to blahdy's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Yup, it'll work as intended. Also, I'd remove bus functionality from these lots, personally. That makes it act as a bus stop, which has a lot of side effects. You don't usually see city buses on the highways, anyway. -

Alright - I support the color change, but the line length should match up. Also, you should pick a better texture for the new concrete. Most concrete doesn't look that flat Here's the DL for the elevated highway model... http://download.yousendit.com/42EA292A4B2EDFD3 It's missing a texture for the supports, but you shouldn't need it - you'll probably make your own style of supports. -

I can provide you easily with an elevated highway model. Give me a little bit to find it on my HDD. -

This looks amazing - you gonna let me modd it? Anyways, I won't be able to do any work on this project until next week - I have AP testing, and I need to hit the books, seriously. -
one thing - this has prolly been raised before, but you switched the strings in the PM system for Read and Unread messages - after clicking the "Mark All As Read" button, all messages display as unread, but do not flash. Likewise, new PMs do flash, but they display as read. Just a nitpick, but it really bugs me.

Check the TGI of your icon; make sure it's like other icons. Then, check how your LUA script works if you take the generators and occupant group out (link your UDI to another lot like the Maxis small airport). Also, try it without substituting GROUP, MAX, RATE, and TIME. One last thing: you'll soon run into a problem here - the UDI doesn't know where to start on the lot when you highlight it. It will usually start in a random place. After you finish a mission, the UDI will return to the airport and again find a random place to go. Then, after you bulldoze the lot, the aircraft will remain, and you cannot demolish it until you exit the city, and then when you reload it, it is gone. Maxis used "tag" props to say where automata are to spawn. Unfortunately, we have no idea how to create new tag files. Karybdis and I have talked a lot about this, and we came to the conclusion that this is probably controlled by the AE file, which has never been decoded enough to edit.

Here's the link: http://download.yousendit.com/E8A204697672ABD0 Copy and paste that into your URL bar. This is only half of the highway; it'll be easy to rotate it over to the other side, though. Judging by the current look of the models, you have some good modelling experience. -

blahdy - I dunno if you realize this, but the SC4 ground highways actually squeeze 6 lanes into LESS than 2 tiles. The highways are narrower than 2 tiles. If you'd like, I can provide you with a gmax file containing a tile of highway literally taken from the game. It is properly scaled and textured. You might find this helpful. -

I can't speak for theater shaped like that, but around here, theaters are usually deeper than that. They have a rounded, somewhat conical roof, usually with metal sheeting on the top. For an example, look at vanderaap's theatre on the STEX.
-
Alright - just a forewarning, in order for the helicopter props, spawning, and dispatch to work properly, you must give the lot the Occupant Group for the Large Medical Center. Outbuildings are definitely a good idea.

I did indeed do some work on the FWT. The only problem now is paths.... I'm trying to get them working so the cars look semi-realistic on the way down. -
Building that really looks like Wren Insurance!
ardecila replied to Metropolis's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
yeah - don't forget, Maxis is outside San Francisco, in Walnut Creek. The buildings of downtown SanFran are probably quite familiar to the Maxis BATters. -
Wow - this latest building looks amazing - I'm sure I can find a place for it. You didn't have any real-life examples for Wagner and Diehl, did you? I was finding appropriate places to put your buildings in my SC4 version of the Loop, and Wagner and Diehl seemed similar to the CB&Q, so I plopped it there. Upon further investigation, they have similar heights, color, and detailing, and from an aerial perspective, they even have the same exact shape! The only difference is that W&D has the size to fit on a 2x2 lot, whereas the CB&Q, if in-game, would probably be a 3x3. Either way, I love it. Interestingly, I had previously BATted the other buildings on that block (Lou Mitchell's, two other little office buildings, and some parking lots), so I now have the second complete block in the city.
