Keep in mind that many new computers have major problems running SC4. I had to do some big work arounds and even still I can't see the green circles that show the school, hospital, fire, and police radii.

Cities: Skylines patch 1.2.2-f2 released, limits raised!
msernst commented on Thin White Duke's article in News
I love it. I feel it's somewhere between the shitty re-attempt that was made as an official Sim City game a few years ago and the greatest Sim City game of all, SC4. It's the next-gen equivalent but done better. It looks less cartoon-y and has a more appropriate scale. I feel one of the reasons everyone liked SC4 was largely due to the sizes used. CS is definitely the successor to SC4. EDIT: Oh, and if I remember right, the real SC successor required you to place houses or some $%&^! like that. CS allows for zoning. The city will grow more like it did in SC4- 17 Comments

VERY nice look. Going to download. The only objection I have to it is the logo on the field. It appears to be a ram if I'm correct but that isn't my objection. My objection is the orientation of the logo. Personally I think the logo should be visible to those in the box on ANY field. 9/10 (or 5/5 since I can't give you a 4.5) Good work.

Oh my GOD! I live in San Antonio and this is one of my favorite buildings. This is a beautiful piece of work dude. I wish I could give you more than a perfect rating for this. To those of you who are complaining about the antenna...shut up. This is an actual part of the building and Odainsaker actually did it correctly by putting such a large antenna on the building. Without the mast, the building is 404 feet tall. The antenna itself is 150 feet tall. This is a gorgeous work of art here. This is going to be a centerpiece for one of my cities.

Ok, I don't want to be the d**k here but why is everyone so incredibly impressed with this? All that was done was that the made spheres of proper relation to each other and textured them with images taken by NASA. Yea, they look kinda neat, but they aren't as amazing as the llamas here are making it look.

I don't know you or your other works...but I love you. The quality of this bat makes me sad to know that this is your last because it's clear that you put out quality. On the other hand, it makes me happy that a quality batter is going out on the HIGHEST note he can. Sir...I salute you. You have my respect as a fellow American. God bless you good sir.

First of all, I'm highly surprised that this has 69 downloads. Second, have you even looked at other bats on here? This thing is garish. No textures at all, primary colors, and WAY over sized. The main portion of the building looks to be about 10 stories tall when, at MOST it should be two. I realize that this is a first attempt but you're clearly not an idiot so why does this look like a five year old did it? I completely understand the lack of scale, I really do. But I don't understand why you have no textures. Please remove this and try again. As for scale, I tend to go by the rule that in gmax, 1 unit or point of measurement tends to about 1.5 feet in-game or IRL. This was determined by assuming the average sim was 6' tall. I made boxes that were 2 units, 4 units, and 6 units tall. The sims were the same size as the 4 unit box. So all you need to do is find out how tall/long the item would be in real life then divide that number by 1.5 and that will give you the number of units tall it needs to be in gmax. For example if something needs to be 15 feet tall in real life then you'd calculate 15/1.5 and you'd come up with 10. So make it 10 units tall and in game it would appear to be 15" tall. ...at least that's the rule I go by when I make things. Good luck.

TEAM: Max Large Fire Department Landing Strip
msernst commented on OmniBLACK's file in Civic & Non-RCI
I'll be honest, I'm not even going to bother installing this file. First of all, like others have said, remove the PDF middle-man and just link the dep. files on here or in a link to a webpage. Second, your PDF said I would need to register to download those deps. You may like to needlessly register on a site you'll only use once or twice but most of us don't. Lastly, you need to narrow down your deps by using fewer of them or re-bundling them (with permission if they aren't yours). Based on your picture, your lot looks to be rather cluttered. Personally I give it a 1-2 out of 5. Sorry. Clearly I was interested enough to take a look at this file but there were too many negatives to warrant downloading it. -
Are you serious? 35,000 students? I know cities smaller than that. There is NO way that 35,000 students would ever fit in that building. That should be a rural school allowing for about 50-100 students. Even 100 is pushing it for that tiny building. And what's with all that parking? Get rid of the parking in back, and make the lot up front half that size. A school house that size will have one or two teachers at the MOST. This is purely ridiculous.

AWESOME city...I'm actually kinda jealous of your creativity. My analytical mind always gets in the way and my cities are ALWAYS grid shaped. Get's kinda dull... Great work.

I love it. It's really nice to see how someone else builds their city...my analytical mind always gets in the way and my cities are ALWAYS grid shaped and packed from the start. They typically start out as a few packed city blocks ... Good work. Cant wait to see what happens next.

So can anyone tell me where to download SC4Mapper or whatever? The first, original link, is dead and the second link brings me to some page that tells about it...no longer has a download link.

So many of you spoiled brats whine too much. Regardless of being maxis buildings or not I think this is a GREAT lot for a few reasons. 1) He remade the lot after your original crying. 2) Some of you cry-babies haven't made a darn thing. 3) It's a great idea with nice effort put in. Sometimes the best ideas are all rehashed. 4) When you consider that we recently had some retarded "demon police station" or something on fire on the front page, this is GOLD!!

Everyone keeps whining about the cost of the plant; $150,000. I have to say that I think the price is very fair considering the drastic changes of this plant. The price is set to offset the "cheat-like" effects. I say "cheat-like" only for the fact that it now makes WTE plants a lot more realistic. Before I wouldn't use these plants fro the sheer pollution.

Searching for a Road/Street/Avenue/Highway tutorial
msernst posted a topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I've looked around in this forum and I can't seem to find any tutorials to help walk me through the essentials of building my own roads. I know, NAM...someone's gonna say it...but sometimes I just wanna do things on my own. I want to build a 3 cell wide avenue for one thing... So, can anyone point me in the right direction?
