1. Show us your Camera Angles

That looks hilarious! Exactly like a displaced sidewalk slab
2. Wow, even more possibilities arises to this 20-year old game. Marvelous! That sounds good, I would agree with this attitude. Time periods would be as useful as geographical location. And yeah, the Maxis "European contemporary" fits perfectly for the postmodernism. Especially that the "contemporary" for SC4 release was quite matching this style then Just a small note: as I guess, such would mean for pre-fabs and other post-war architecture of the Eastern Block (adding Poland, Czechia, Hungary, East Germany, etc.)? If such, I would not use the name "soviet" there, as it actually narrows the location to the former USSR. Instead I would just use "Eastern European". But for sure, would also like to see a W2W sets as well, as it would be a useful too.
3. Show us your Camera Angles

Good morning folks! Time to wake up, the sun is rising!
4. Show us your Camera Angles

Very nice dimm effect! I hope that theese cars on the parking lots have good hand breaks Ok, anyway - the last one for today. Time to go to sleep, folks!

@Odainsaker - Great shots! So, huge horizontal panoramas are now possible! Now just add the sky background in post-production and we're home In the meantime, I tried to play a bit with xannepan's JUPITER weather controller mod (LINK. It seems that they work pretty well - especially with rain and rainbows. Here is a photogenic shot - I originally posted them at discord as two separate snapshots, but @tezspotted that they would look nicer as a one mosaic The mountain in the background has elevation of 602m, while the bottom terrain is around 270-300m. The rain and snow seem to be placed rather ok in terms of elevation, regardless of the camera pitch and yaw. However, when prompting dense cloud effect, they may seem a bit to high. Rainbow also works well, altough one needs to be careful here - if you change the camera yaw, then you can see that in fact there are two rainbows - one for each viewing azimuth So we're limited to default yaws in this case. I also tried some ploppable fog (I don't remember where I got it from) that I used to use it a lot in the past and from the default angle worked well. Here, however, it doesn't look good - we can see that this is rather flat "sprite" parallel to the ground. Not for use with low camera pitch value. And for the end - a thunder, from disaster tools. Not that bad, especially at night The visual glitch comes from my computer which doesn't render clouds, waves and thunders well. I'll try to explore something more later.
6. Show us your Small Towns

Agree! It is very hard to get the idea of the terrain shape in default camera settings. With this mod, however, it is clearly visible now!

I made several tests with weather effects. Should I post them here, or maybe another topic for more "technical" discussion would be better? What do you think? Yep, it seems a good one for taller mountains. For smaller ones, pitch between 7 and 10 will do. These one below has elevation of 602m. First, some autumn colours, hour set to 18:00 with no weather effects. A little of blue filter added in GIMP afterwards. Similiar angle, no filters, but with xannepan's weather effect (dense clouds). Same photo as above, but with high blue gradient added in GIMP.
8. Show us your Camera Angles

Slightly off-topic, but once I saw this screenshot I thought: "oh, these looks like a street that I had seen just after stepping from the Victoria Bus Station in London". And then saw the city name Yep, I had the same issue when trying to do with mountains in my region. I'll try other tiles and configurations later. Oh, these two show a great use of this mod Anyway - anyone has already tested combining screenshots with two adjacent tiles to make a mosaic? I think it should be feasible as long as one use the same pitch and yaw values.
9. Show us your Camera Angles

That's true. And that's why pre-fab blocks and cubic-like offices seems to be the least distorted buildings, cause they are shaped almost like their LOD boxes. Also, what I can see, this is still an isometric view, just from another angle (not a perspective), so. Anyway, in some shot's it gives magnificent effects.
10. 3D Camera DLL for SimCity 4

Jawdropping
11. Entry 4 - Käkisalmi (Part 1; The City)

Really nice layout of blocks! To be honest, I've already forgotten about these gray-green and white-yellow blocks. I've probably haven't seen them for a decade or so
12. Show us your Camera Angles

I've been away from Simtropolis and SimCity in general for a while. Today, I've got a message from a friend with a link to this tool... And I'm amazed. This is wonderful, the ultimate dream of being able to see one's region from the closest iteration possible to a first person view. I've turned the game on once again and went to photograph my region that I've been building for past 16 years with a perspective that has always been hardly imaginable. Block of flats in Kolbrów on the background of the village of Skała located on top of a hill. Now, the terrain shape is clearly visible with this angle. I added some bluish gradient to try to facilitate the depth percetpion. Power plant near Krzemień. Large, non-cubic buildings are clearly distorted, but as some industrial mess it can do. Some random rural views. Seashore view near Raszkowo. Historic centre in the city of Olsza, with a bridge over the Wirta river leading to the city. Som blurring in the fore- and background. I tested several angle values. For me, the best are: - Pitch 7 - 10, sometimes 15. - yaw 20-30, but usually keep the default value. Once again: amazing to explore
13. Poland

Wow, it's excellent! Even if I can see that most of those screenshots are photoshopped real aerial photos with some SimCity buldings pasted onto them You could have explored the village of Sułoszowa near Kraków, it would be very picturesque But very nice, a point for deep historical and current issue research (we do complain about the pollution from Nowa Huta in Kraków recently)!
14. Show us What you're Working On

The model looks really good! May I suggest you creating also a version without the pool and such a tall ground level "box"? It could look then very universal, fitting for many different places, even as a refurbished pre-fab block
15. Worsaw churches and cathedrals (part1)

Yeah, churches are a vital part of cities, especially for their historical parts. It's always nice to see how they both blend and create focal points within the districts Good choice of bats! Fit well in my opinion!
16. Jacobs Krakow

Great work! Thank you very much, Matt!
17. Kolbrów (part 1)

Hello everybody! Many of you would probably know me and would recognize my MD from other websites. I've been publishing at SC4Devotion, SimCityPolska, ToutSimCities and SimCityKurier. The region, that you can see today, is more than 12 tears old. That's the time since I posted it for the first time at 1st of January 2008 at SimCityPolska. Today I decided to start a CJ at Simtropolis, the last big place where I didn't left my footprint. Galand Galand (pol: Galicja, fr. Galicie, ger. Galizien) is a country on a fictional continent of Telesto (a project that used to be held at SimCityPolska). Its name refers to the real Galicia, a region, that today is divided between south-eastern Poland and western Ukraine. This region is to a big extent a reflection of Poland, my home country. All the landscapes, cities and villages have been highly inspired by what I was able to see during during my trips. In game it has population of around 2,200,000. It borders several other countries: Höhensonne and Federation of Magyar from the west, Kasandria and Slavic Republic (pol: Republika Słowiańska) from the east and (what used to be) Helsakoh in the south. They are regions of other players, however, they are no more active. Kolbrów Capital of Galand is Kolbrów - a city located in southern part of the country, by the river of Wirta. It’s the biggest city with population of more than 800,000 residents. It is crucial to mention that Kolbrów is highly based on real-life Kraków. There are many inspirations woven into quarters, recreations of existing places, real-life buildings modelled by other players, etc. etc. Because of that, I think that it is worth saying few words about this city. Kraków. The second largest city in Poland, located in the south of the country by Wisła river, now having around 770 000 residents. In the past (especially in medieval times) it was the capital of Poland, headquarters of kings and symbol of the Polish power. Altough the politics changed and for few centuries it is no longer the capital, there are still many remainings of the history and heritage waiting at every corner just to be discovered. Main hearth of Kraków is the Old Town, a historical district with a market square being its very centre, and the Castle on Wawel Hill - the royal headquarters that still is a living hearth of Polish history and culture. Old Town is surrounded by other historical districts (like formerly jewish town of Kazimierz or Podgórze that has been founded by Austrians), as well as old industrial zones (whith Schindler's factory), universities, pre-fab blocks and socialist quarters that have became witness to modern history of communism regime and people's resitance towards it. All of those briefly listed places combine to a one image of a city soaked in its every inch with history and the modern, education and religion, multi-culturalism and Polish oldest traditions. And most of them are taken into Kolbrów. So, let the journey begin! 1. Main Market Square (pol. Rynek Główny). Located in the middle of Old Town (pol. Stare Miasto). As mentioned before, it has been the very centre of the entire city troughout ages. Even today, it is the principal point for many events, filled with residents and tourists, alive and vibrant all day and all night. It has three real buildings: the medieval "shopping centre" Cloth Hall (pol. Sukiennice), the small St. Adalbert Church and the old City Hall Tower, altough their placement is a bit different comparing to the reality. Fun fact: Rynek Główny in Kraków is the biggest medieval square in Europe! Click to see the real place in 3D! 2. The Old Town is surrounded by a ring of parks. It is a remaining of medieval city walls that were demolished in XIX century. Till today, only a small part survived. One of the main streets leading from the Market Square (a part of so called "the Royal Way") is closed with St. Florian Gate (pol. Brama Floriańska). In the proximity there is Juliusz Słowacki Theatre which role is played here by Maxis' opera... and it does not play it bad, does it? Click to see the real place in 3D! 3. There are a lot of old tenements that makes the entire city centre. 4. 5. One of the best places for recreation are the river boulvards. Real Vistula (pol. Wisła) that flows trough Kraków, in Kolbrów is called Wirta. Click to see the real place in 3D! 6. A huge triangular field called Błonia has been serving as the grounds for the biggest events, including masses celebrated by popes (especially those by John Paul II). In 2016 it held few masses of World Youth Days. The Pope Francis, as well as almost 3 millions of pilgrims visited Kraków. Interesting fact is that it was the first time when the pope arrived at scene not in his special papal car, but in... a tramway! Click for full size Click to see the real place in 3D! Thank you for reading and watching. There are plenty of stuff from recent years to show, so stay tuned for next updates Regards, Kamil PS. I'm struggling a bit with the form of blog-like CJ entries... I apologize if I mess something up technically!
18. Show us What you're Working On

What beautiful scenery! Nice to see you posting pictures again @mattb325 Nice models! Btw, I allowed myself to once again post some proposals in your topic at sc4d. Just for inspiration
19. Show us your Small Towns

Well, I hope that those drivers going down out of the lowest tunnel are not speeding too much...
20. Show us What you're Working On

Thank you so much, @mattb325! It's excellent, you are the master! I showed those screens to my colleagues who played SimCity, they were amazed and excited with the idea of playing with meteorites What do you think about showing you some other new buildings from Kraków or Warsaw? As I said, there are plenty of nice ones of course, I assure that I don't want to overuse your generosity, but maybe there would be something that you could find interesting?
21. Show us your Region!

What a megalopolis! I prefer rural Basin in the mountains
22. Mount Steel Ski Resort opens for Christmas fun!

That's some nice shots! I like the slope, it's quite big! I've never made such a big layout for a ski resort, everything I make in my mountains is quite small, so its quite refreshing to see something in a proper scale I've looked trough your entries and I like your region. I'm not much keen in anime, but with those characters and a very deep story behind each of your updates it's quite entertaining to read, it gives a special charm to Rota Also, I like to look at your region view, cause I can see and feel that's indeed a country - a kingdom in your story - that really has size and that is really under some governance and planning
23. Downtown 2020 part 2

Hi! I've just looked trough your CJ. I admit that I really like it! It looks indeed so East/Crntral European. Although I prefer more detailed building, those of-the-grid diagonaland FAR roads, quarters and districts looks amazing from the distance! With those irregular tree areas and parks, the layout looks so real! Also, I like the reference go Warsaw you just miss the Palace of Culture sitting in a giant square But is it really on the map of Warsaw? I can't quite recognize the terrain shape, ad well as the river looks too narrow compared to the reality
24. Show us What you're Working On

@mattb325 - Hah, you know, actually I haven't thought about it in a disaster mode... but I agree that it would be funny to do, especially that I have work colleauges who also played SimCity. I'm sure they would enjoy it as well I wrote in your topic at sc4devotion - if you look for more inspiration for your future projects, I could show you more offices in Kraków (or Warsaw). There's a lot of commercial and residential mid- and high-rises that have been under construction in recent years and many of them are really good pieces of architecture The building from Kansas looks nice! I wonder how long it takes you to make a model? You're really quick with that!
25. Show us What you're Working On

@WolfZe - nice bat! I've been looking at your uploads, they are excellent! They are good addition to rural areas However, maybe it's just my feeling... I feel like they might be a bit too big/overscaled? Not much, like around 20%? I have such feeling with some of your creations. Nevertheless, they are great @mattb325 - I look a your recent bats and with every one I'm always amazed how you can keep an excellent quality... and quantity! Where do you take inspiration from? Cause, I just thought... may I give you a suggestion... of my workplace? Photo 1 Photo 2
