Back in Cities Sklyines because of DLC
BlitzPackage posted a topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
So....after a few years off, the Campus, Park Life, Sunset Harbor and Industries DLC drew me back in. I love how Campuses, Parks and, to some extent, industries can be customized and not just placed down with one square plop. It adds so much to the game. I also bought the Snowfall only for the Trams. This game is really, really fun now. I can't wait for Cities Sklyines 2. Rumors are it comes later on this year. -

I also hope the graphics are updated. It would be fun to see better trains, tracks, cars, people, etc. -
Playfield.Earth / Urban Management - Our new approach in the City Builder genre
BlitzPackage replied to playfieldearth's topic in City-Building Games
This city building game looks really good and has tons of potential. It could really be a genre-busting game and completely usher in a new era of city builder. It looks like it is a dream. My questions are as follows? Will I be able to build new rail and subway or passenger train networks within cities? Will I be able to see them running? Can I follow a person around when they drive, take the train, bus or walk around town? Can I construct new buildings and zone different areas? Finally, when will this game come out? I want it already. LOL! Seriously, keep up the good work. If you deliver on what you say you can - and answer my questions above positively - you will have my money on day one! This looks like the city management game we all want and need.- 10 Replies

Returning Player...What Should I Get?
BlitzPackage posted a topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Greetings Good People, It has been almost a year since I played Cities Skylines. I am now coming back to play it. In that time I have noticed that there are a plethora new DLC, mods, etc. So, my question is, which DLC should I get? Are there any must have mods? I was only used to the vanilla game. I stopped playing because it got boring. Is there any dlc or mod that I can download that makes the game more interesting? Thanks for any insight. -
Graphics Quality and Next Version
BlitzPackage posted a topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Greetings fellow mayors. Do we know if there are any plans to upgrade the quality of the graphics? It would be great if the graphics were on par or better than SC2013. Also, is there a version 2 of the game coming out? Thanks- 7 Replies

Greetings. I picked up the game again recently after a few months of not playing it. So, I downloaded it to my Surface Book. Now, I noticed that the building types all look European. They don't look like they used to look in the original game. Offices and high density commercial look like apartments homes. Is there a way to get it back to the way it used to look or get a more American feel to the cities? Thanks

So, I have 6 tiles and just over 50,000 citizens. Extensive roads, buildings, etc... I have the 16GB, discreet GPU, with 512GB of hard drive space. Thus far it is runny pretty good with no lag or very little. What I do, before I play, is restart my machine and make sure nothing is unnecessary that is running in the background. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ok. I figured it out. I was on a map that had European as the style. No problem as I will restart my city on another map.

Has anyone tried this on a Surface Book with at least 16GB ram, 512GB hard drive, and the discreet GPU?

So, I have a question about incinerators. I thought incinerators would do away with my need for landfills. However, despite having an incinerator practically down the street, garbage was piling up. Then, I checked, and it only had about 2 trucks out despite having many more trucks that could be out. Is it just that incinerators also fill up and when they do they don't send trucks out? Do we always need landfills or simply more incinerators? I do see them filling up but I thought they incinerated the trash. Similar thing with crematoriums. I have several and I still see dead people. What's up with that? On both issues, road access is not a problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would love a tutorial on how to avoid so many empty buildings for various reasons. I would also like a tutorial on how to get all of the special buildings. For example, it says one build will need all tax rates at no higher than 4%, when I put my tax rates that low for a few weeks, the building was not available so I had to raise them back to normal levels. Again, thanks for these.

Looks like the Crown has been passed....
BlitzPackage replied to chocolate_city's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
I'm sorry but no... SC2013 was dead from the start when we learned about the map size. It only went downhill from there. SC2013 was garbage from the start. I played the demo and hated the small map sizes, what seemed like restricted play and - of course - the online requirement. I did not buy it. It did have some good things about it like the graphics. But the small map sizes and online requirement killed it for me. -
Colossal Order Is A Secret Death Cult
BlitzPackage posted a topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Why else would they require us to have like 5 death care facilities per 300 residents? Then, they even have a statue about death, and another one about the cycle of life and death. LOL! I joke, I joke. My whole point is that they seem to really want us to invest a ton of resources in death care. I think this is one of the areas they need to tune. Any idea about whether they will be tuning this? -

Looks like the Crown has been passed....
BlitzPackage replied to chocolate_city's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Tough call but I will give CSL the edge and say it is the rightful heir of SC4. That being said, for it to reign, not just temporarily supplant as heir, it needs to really work on the graphics and exceed SC 2013's graphics. It definitely needs more polish in that area. Others have also added some amazing insights there is no need for me to add to the laundry list. It definitely is the heir, but now it has to show that it can reign, maintain its empire and expand to further entrench itself. -
Colossal Order Is A Secret Death Cult
BlitzPackage replied to BlitzPackage's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Well...I do think it is great to have in the game. I like that the simulation has all of this in it. I think it's a tad overdone but I do like that the lifecycle of citizens has to be taken into account. They have truly done a great job managing this in the game. -
And yet another Traffic question.............

So, both my commercial and industrial areas are reporting that there is not enough workers. I built a neighborhood designed to feed both, and it is close to both areas. Still, both areas say there are not enough workers. I have a public transportation system feeding all areas. Access to both from the neighborhood is easy and there are no long traffic lines. Still, it says there is a problem. Any advice? Thanks.
