Welcome to New York (No,i`m not a Recreation...sort of)
1131989 replied to Hotwheeler's topic in SC4 City Journals
Looks pretty close to the real deal! Are you using this map ()? Because I'd love to see your region shot as you rebuild NYC on a different map. -
Really interesting concept! I'd love to see how this plays out...

Has anyone seen this building?
1131989 commented on 1131989's City Journal Entry in Seven Digit Neighborhoods (SC4 Mac)
Major thanks. It is by Jsteed, I believe. Another of his buildings (Roppongi) has an infuriating tendency to vanish as well. -
Has anyone seen this building?

One of my buildings has gone missing! Law enforcement is currently investigating. -

One more Expansion Pack...if only.
1131989 replied to Prophet42's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Thanks to mods, SC4 probably has as many expansion packs' worth of material as any of the first three Sims games. -
Here's an assortment from my library.

Intermezzo III: The World We Live In.
1131989 posted a City Journal entry in Seven Digit Neighborhoods (SC4 Mac)
As you may be able to tell, this city journal is set in an alternate universe. In this universe, the geographic distribution of wealth is much more equitable and countries like Somalia are much more affluent than they are in the real world. For instance, this is a typical town in coastal Somalia. Notice the lack of poverty and pirates. Here is another historic old town. Here is an affluent suburb in the northern part of the country. The gated community at the top of the image uses houses similar to these: Lastly can be seen the historic Zeila mosque, claimed by some to date to the lifetime of Muhammad. Although in our world it is a ruin: in the world of the nine digits, it has been restored. Disclaimer: I know little about Somalia, but after seeing this (http://community.simtropolis.com/journal/4948/entry-23969-dar-es-salaam/) from Tanzania, I decided to give a crack at capturing the feel for it. -
Too many famous buildings (WTC, WFC, Palace of the Popes??) and what is up with that one moron who didn't fit in with the green-roofed shopping district at upper right? I also see a Maxis default Ingebretson Place on the left end.

Intermezzo 2: Emerging Skylines and Overseas Territories

No prose here, I'll let the imagery speak for itself. -
Just messing around with some MMPs and agricultural grid-busting... That road isn't very smooth...looks like an Excitebike track. Also, why doesn't your city have a name? Are you trying to dehumanize your Sims?? -4.546/10

Thanks for the tip, but that part actually lies on a corner so it is fine the way it is. Here is another picture from a suburb of about 200000 inhabitants: Beautiful although the small amount of non-w2w development in the upper right hand corner looks out of place.

Intermezzo: Immigration from Italy
1131989 posted a City Journal entry in Seven Digit Neighborhoods (SC4 Mac)
The ongoing European debt crisis has had a substantial impact on Bassa's economy. Thousands of southern European Sims, mostly Portuguese and Italians, have flocked to the area's outer fringes in search of a better life. Many of these new migrants have brought a new industry with them: tomato cultivation. Homes in many suburban areas now have tomatoes and grape vines over their driveways and rear yards. -
Perhaps it's this one from jsteed. There is a growable and a landmark folder in the download. The building model is in the landmark folder. Perhaps you deleted it? How did you know...That is amazing! I had done a Spanish-language download binge from CapitalSimCity and must have deleted the model. Muchas gracias, señor/señora/señorita.

I have an infuriating growable brown-box dependency in some of my cities. It is a 2x2 R$$$ high-density named "owadab" that has 462 sims. Anyone know where I could find the missing object?

I know that probably thats based on an American commercial stripe.. but for some reason it reminds of some commercial areas in London's outskirts.. LOL please dont kill me!! Ontario or UK? I've been to neither but I find it interesting that they have similairities to the picture. @ROFLyoshi, that street layout is really impressive! I think it's cool how the rail line snakes through too. Here's a small neighborhood I made today. So American... I'd probably say either Long Island or somewhere in the Midwest by looking at it.

Here's another one: Welcome to Moroder, South Tyrol, Italy. Named after the South Tyrolean composer Giorgio Moroder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giorgio_Moroder), Moroder is a fictional town in the very real Italian province of South Tyrol. If Moroder were real, its predominant language would most likely be German, followed by Italian and Ladin, and its main exports would likely include wine.

More fun with photo filters!
1131989 posted a City Journal entry in Seven Digit Neighborhoods (SC4 Mac)
Here are some more gameplay images with and without filters. What do you think? -
A little too small for a lake huh? I'd say it's a fishing pond. And I'd say this is about as small as a small town can get. There are many of these fish-rearing ponds in the countryside. In the 19th century, villages like these dotted the exurbs of New Orleans: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Malo,_Louisiana. None now survive, sadly, although they have served as an inspiration for my region in many ways. Time flies. The America has been reshaped by (sub)urbanization. Looking forward to your updates. Okay. I'll fish around for some stuff to post, hopefully to this thread.

How are growable tile-sets determined
1131989 replied to Mindphaser's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
It also applies to some of the larger commercial buildings (at least the office ones). Wren Insurance, for instance, will never grow if you don't select New York. -
