  1. SimCity Social doesn't sound too promising

I'm sorry, I didn't realise there was a link to an article. It seemed like someone was just expressing their own brief view which would be better shared on the forums.
  2. SimCity Social doesn't sound too promising

How the hell does this constitute 'news'?
  3. Time?

Also, the images showing the UI in debug mode clearly had a speed up time button.
  4. I can't figure out all of the buttons, but this is what I am guessing: I kind of wish that since Energy, Water, Sewarge? and Waste all got seperate buttons that the different transport options would too... Edit: I realised I missed out the compass. It seems to show the different cities within the region - as squares :/
  5. Do you think the new Simcity will allow for the option of left hand drive? Whether by option or default based on region? I have a feeling that multiplayer will limit the driving options to only right hand drive, which is a shame as I prefer left hand drive as it reflects the direction used where I live.
  6. Will Simcity 5 Have UDI

But how would that be different from just using the camera at ground level?
  7. Will Simcity 5 Have UDI

I enjoy UDI, but agree that it is better as part of an expansion pack. It was part of an expansion pack for SC4 afterall...
  8. SimCity Mac

They've always said that they are only focusing on PC at the moment. I expect that it will be available on mac like SC4.
  9. SimCity at E3 2012

Wait until the game's released. It's not finished yet, so there are obviously going to be things that aren't finished!
  10. SimCity at E3 2012

Well, they did show regional play..... but we couldn't see it. It was only shown at the event with no coverage.
  11. Well, it has been said that the minimum download speeds required are 256 kbps download and 64 kbps upload, if that helps. Doesn't seem like much, but I suppose it then depends on how often information is sent via the internet. I think its more likely that simple data is sent, with the heavy graphics related files stored locally like you suggested.
  12. Simcity Interview & Walkthrough

mwyeoh, they have said that it shows the amount of money your city makes in 'an hour', so there is going to be some form of financial challenge.
  13. It's my understanding that regions will not be connected to other regions in any physical sense. Cities will be (therefore creating regions) but just the information about regions will be shared for resource purposes. And I think SimNation is the proper term
  14. Introducing the NAM Hotfix Package

I had a bit of an issue with it. I clicked the setting for left hand drive, but I noticed a right hand drive version was installing... So I ended up having to uninstall it and to my dismay found that I had uninstalled the whole Nam When I looked into why the right hand files were even installed, it turns out that when I clicked left hand, the right hand option was still enabled, so I was installing both versions... Usually the Nam only allows one type to be installed. Oh well, guess I have a nam to redownload...
  15. SimCity: Gameplay

They aren't calling it SimCity 2013. It's just called 'SimCity'.
  16. Marmageddon: Crisis in New Zealand!

I hate Marmite, but my sister loves it, and luckily we have an extra jar in the pantry that should last us through the dry patch... Or we could try and sell this black gold
  17. Seminar March 24: Building Real Highways LIKE A BOSS!

Thanks for the info. I was not aware that WA didn't do DST, but did know some of the east coast didn't (QL?). Forgive my ignorance, I'm from New Zealand and was confused trying to sort out my timezone from the messed up Australian ones (GMT+13 bit crazy I must say...)
  18. Seminar March 24: Building Real Highways LIKE A BOSS!

its 11 and 9 at the moment cos of daylight saving (unless they have already switched back, but i dont think they have yet)
  19. Seminar March 24: Building Real Highways LIKE A BOSS!

Um, AEST is GMT+11, not AWST
  20. Jobs & Time?

Remember that with SC4 there were two 'clocks' running. There was a time clock, which mainly made day turn into night, and could have had influence on the traffic shown, and also there was a date clock which was used for the budget, etc.
  21. Well, if anything, I personally think the 2013 should be in parenthesis. And SC5 is just a convenient acronym for the new SimCity. I know it's not called that, but it still is the 5th (Maxis) SimCity. So I'll be saying SC5 when referring to SimCity (2013) the same way that the fourth Fast and Furious film was just called 'Fast & Furious'.
  22. These specs are ridiculously high and will prevent a large amount of people from playing the game. I personally only just bought a machine that meets the SC5 requirements, and my machine as of a few months ago was single core, GMA950 with 2GB ram. Just because you and a small group of more hard-core gamers have machines with unnecessarily high specs, don't assume all that want to play the new SimCity do.
  23. They have never said they were going to force (or even implement) sea level rise in the game (If anything, it may lower due to over extraction). What they have said is that they want to allow you to build any city you want, and providing the consequences of your decisions. In that way it is more city simulating. You are really blowing this out of proportion.
  24. SimCity: Wishlists

Rh1346, names of roads change depending on cities. Here is New Zealand, there is no real classification of streets - a small culdesac could be a 'Road' or a Highway could be a 4 lane arterial or what you call a freeway. What I'm getting at is that it does not matter what streets are classified as, just as long as they are available. You complain that Highways should be called Freeways, but what if I think they should be called Motorways? This makes me think of something I would like. The road naming tool in SC4 was pretty cool, however I never use it because the labels always disappear when construction happens nearby. If SC5 is going to have this labelling system (although, it wasn't implemented in SC4 until Rush Hour, was it?) I would like it to be fixed, and if a road is upgraded the label doesn't disappear but instead just adapted to the wider road.
  25. SimCity: Wishlists

I agree with Flowmotion. I can see this SimCity just working on the simulation, but not the complexity for the moment. It's very hard thinking of SC4 without Rush Hour, but we do have to remember that future Expansion Packs can really change the game. I'm thinking the new SimCity might follow this expansion model, but I do hope that it doesn't get into Sims expansion territory... 3 maximum, I think.
