REST: Yea, so now that I had a few days to think I've thrown away the old model and come up with this new one. Same project, though. It's light years ahead of my last attempt, but I can't help but feel it still needs work. Mainly the skins are too repetitive. I'll have to tinker with it a little, but you can get the general idea of my project.

Thanks for the feedback, though. I get the impression that I've come back to this site at the tail-end of BAT design popularity. Many of the veterans seem to be gone, or occupied with other things. If things were different maybe I could have become a truly talented BAT artist when I first started. As it is my shoddy skills should have to suffice.

I'll go to my house of God, give up 10% of my yearly income, go through the motions of yet another sermon contrived to guilt me into obedience and rule my life, and live in fear of a celestial spanking from a supernatural boogey man if I want. In fact, and considering all the logic of a mere theory that suggests "monkeys turned into people," I can't see why everyone doesn't do the same as me. That's why me and my friends pressure "non-believers" into conforming with us and lobby so hard to get the US congress to pass bills that force our beliefs on others. You're so crazy with "evolutionitis" that you've lost your ability to think straight. Let US do the thinking for you. Trust me, I know whats best for you. Also, if you don't go along with it the invisible boogey manI worship will cook you with sulfur and lava. You want that? Didn't think so.
  4. BATs Currently in Progress

Been working pretty steady on my 18th century fortress. Here are some more screens. It's pretty much ready for textures, as far as I can tell. It will be called Fort William Alexander and count as a museum. HERE is another image. HERE is a third.
  5. BATs Currently in Progress

This thread is an inspiration. I enjoy historic works more and this one is something I've been dreaming for a long time. This is just an hour of work trying to get back into the BAT after a year. It's going to be a restored 18th century fortress. The idea is to make it a ploppable landmark that counts as a museum. I'm using Fort Bourtange, Fort Carolyn, Fort Independence, and Fort McHenry as inspiration for my own fictional work. The ditches are going to be a challenge for me, but I'm up to it! This is one project, though, that I think is missing from the STEX.
  6. Introduce Yourself Here!

Been a long time and not too many familiar faces. Short of the long, my comp crashed, I lost ALLL my work and new models in progress. Then we moved. Just now getting back into the game. Real life been kicking my butt a little too. But I'm back and maybe I'll ante up and kick in something new soon.
  7. How do you feel about the SCS announcement?

After seeing the screen shots they posted I sighed and instantly understood that my greatest fears had been realized. The new "Sim Societies" will be nothing more than a society sim. I specifically avoided the "Sims" series because that does not interest me. This new Sim City looks to be a way for "Sims" players to interact together online in user-generated societies. *sigh* Makes me want to give myself an air bubble embolism with a dirty AIDS infested meth needle.
  8. Stadion Feyenoord De Kuip Rotterdam

Such Good Work! Thank you for such a beautiful addition to my European-style cities.
  9. the Freedom Ship

I love it, the concept is pure, and I know what you're talking about. However, I think you asssume a lot of knowledge for those downloading. I suggest that adding a link and a little background in your description will really get more people enthused! GJ!
  10. plane crsh

Represents original thought and I think that's important on the STEX. Great work, and continue your work on the 747 project. Someday you WILL know how to replace the 707s. Peace!
  11. Anwakee County

Why call this work crap, sloppet? Looks awesome to me. Wish I had the programs to do what you have with the photos. Looks like polaroids. How cool is that?
  12. PEG CDKN Navy Pier Four

This is perhaps the best military unit work I've seen on the ST-EX. Keep it up.

  16. Anwakee County

I love the way you provide a city map! What software do you use?
  17. Navy Piers?

Well I'm stumped. Sorry. But it looks good. Remember to keep up the good fight and I'm sure you'll succeed.

DESCRIPTION The Sainte Marie-des-Bois friary probably never existed in the real world. However, the location provided one of many infamous backdrops in De Sade's anti-moralist tale, "The Misfortunes of Virtue." In my readings of De Sade it occured to me that the man was widely misunderstood and I wanted to speak out against his reputation as a mindless lecher. At that time I was also interested in learning how to use the BAT tool. Thus, this project was born, and it has blossomed into a wonderful plopable park lot. Since I could find no picture or illustration of the Marie-des-Bois Friary, the model was constructed after my reading notes of the descriptions De Sade gave in his work. As I am interested in ruins and archaeology, the final model was meant to represent a partially reconstructed friary and church. Besides my notes I used several pictures of other reconstructed friaries and churches around Europe to help capture the appropriate scale and style. DEPENDENCIES There are only two to mention. Thank you to Sim Goober and Dust Trooper for publishing your props! BSC MEGA Props SG Volume 01 DT Trees Volume 01 RECOGNITIONS To my wife, for pretending hard that she was interested in this work! *HAH* To Glenni, for helping me understand the export functions. To everyone who posted in my "HJS BAT Showcase" thread for your suggestions.
  20. This is a list of things I've thought of for SC5 when (not if) it comes out. 1) Realistic commercial zone usage (to predict shopping behavior as well as commute) 2) Some kind of regional capital city. 3) Open-ended city ordinance system (ability to write your own in-game) 4) More diverse building styles 5) Realistic industrial behavior. Right now, where do the goods go? They go off the map. Why not have them go to the commercial zones? 6) More realistic inter-zone interaction. For instance, the kind of manufacturing your cities have may influence what kind of commercial zones you have in that region. 7) Region-wide "ordinances." Why not set region-wide edicts that affect all cities at the same time? The inclusion of "vice" industries along with the ability to regulate or ban them at the local and regional levels. C'mon, one of the most important aspects of modern industrial city life is missing... 9) Ability to influence the attitudes of your sims at the regional and city levels. Wouldn't it be great if a city-wide campaign to promote mass transit actually influenced the wealthy? What if you could launch regional ad campaigns that would change the way sims in your city interacted with the infrastructure?

*UPDATED* This is a third version of my earlier work. It includes a total of fourteen unique ploppable parks & recreation tiles that allow for a multitude of unique configurations. These tiles allow you to add that "ancient" feel to your city in a way that no other park package can. Try this pack today and I know you won't regret it! I really liked my park the way it was, but I felt like I wanted to do a piece with plenty of detail that would fill in the gap between the plaza and the country club. I was driving my wife to work and passed the community rose garden, and then it hit me. I present a wonderful 9x9 rose garden for your city. It costs 80 to plop and 25 for upkeep. It affects both commercial and residential desireability. Careful, due to the chemicals involved in the gardening it creates 2 water pollution. However, it takes away 5 air pollution. I hope some of you have room in your city for this piece. I know it's going into all of mine! Dependencies BSC MEGA Props - SG Vol. 01 BSC MEGA Props - swi21 Vol. 02 DT Trees Vol. 01
  25. Large City Park

Holy CRAP! Thanks so much for all the input. You bet I'll add more stuff. I was holding back because I didn't want to make it too "busy," you know? Look for a revision in the next few days! Thanks!
