How do you feel about the SCS announcement?
rabanne replied to Dirktator's topic in City-Building Games
It's too bad.... It looks like they're changing the formula completely. No more 'realism' in the game. In my opinion, the 'realism' was what drawed most of the players to the Simcity franchise in the first place. They'll loose me, thats for sure. Being a loyal player, and buyer of all of the games from the very first simcity. And i feel they will loose more players than just me... the screenshot was a real dissapointment. Seems like they're turning it into a childish looking citybuilder, with cheesy colors, low detail. And Maxis... What I don't understand is, why pass on the franchise to another developer if they are turning it in to an completely diffrent game? Not enough commercial success to be made from the simcity series? Oppossed to the sims? Ah.. what the hell, it was just one screenshot... we'll see -

Originally posted by: bixel rabanne: I do plan on doing some older stuff from the 80's maybe so far back as the 70's. I have been reviewing A LOT of HK residentials, the towers above are call Harmony Blocks (Plus sign buildings). These new ones from 1990-2000+ always never seem to have the dirty aspect to them, though they have some odds and ends...like replaced AC units, as seen above, or some wiring cables. The old blocks or Slab Blocks as they call them will have laundry lines that is typical for that style and wealth class. [edit] Oh and I forgot, the reason why no laundry lines is becuase there are no balconies, but I promise, then next building I have balconies on with get laundry lines. THEY WILL BE THERE!!!quote> Another great mystery solved, Laundry on a line ! YAY! (although, now I wonder, do all the people without a balcony automatically have their own dryer ? And if not, then...how DO they dry their laundries?) Ponder..... ponder, .......ponder..... I'll cut the crap, just wanted to add that you're doing really great! Not only on the buildings themselves, but also the speed at which you produce/BAT them. And again: Keep going ! -

OMG, Very very very nice, once again. Small idea : (maybe I'm asking too much of you), but isnt it possible to add some laundry (lines) here and there ? maybe some stains on the walls, dirty airco's and some other irregularities to give an even more realistic look. It might be worth looking into it, if its not too much trouble. I'm no Bat-ter myself so I dont know if its just too hard, too much work or just simply impossible. Anyway, Keep up the excellent work..! -

Just recently discovered this CJ, but I really like it. Have a lot of pages left to look at but I really like the level realism you've been able to achieve. Fantastic! Keep it up!

Hi Cycledogg, first of all, I have to say I'm a BIG fan of your columbus terrain mod/tree mod. It gives the game a more realistic look, and for a second, you might think you ended up in some National Geographic nature documentary. I've got 2 questions. First, the recently released mayor mode trees look great. Any chance they are going to be part of a God mode tree controller pack? Second question, I've seen some screenshots of some beautiful new terrain textures you've been working on Z-urban (http://zurban-fl.com/). Are you going to release these on the STEX? Or are they available somewhere else? Just keep up the great work.
