I suppose even closer than 45 seconds at any given time considering many unknowns in far more powerful nature. I've used the atomic science announcement as it works to relay the drama of the crisis in our human world terms. I agree the natural conditions are far more serious, and so emphasize the engineering direction beyond the atomic age with a sense of the unknown and indeterminate. We're still in the atomic world, its so 1950's, so it makes sense the D-Clock is regressing back and forward at the same time. What happened to the Space Age? All I see is some interesting sci-fi and chemical rocket boosted ballistics. Meanwhile the UN is now announcing Africa has one month before environmental conditions go critical. Edited the 2 replies into the same post so not to have multiples. @korver Quote: "(rather abstract)" Yeah it was a very 'abstractionist' process, the first image was the last one I made, and between the two I left myself lots of questions. When I found the medieval sailing ship props in the STEX I immediately thought of your CJs with very refined 'classical painting' imagery. The next graphics I'm planning is using SC3K which will be a considerable challenge. As for the storyline in this entry, a day after I uploaded it, NASA announced discovery of a solar system similar to ours, but I'm not going to do weird aliens stuff. So I'll continue as planned with a different canvas and pallet, but same beloved planet Earth.

I've always really liked your way of bringing (rather abstract) ideas and concepts into the world of SC4. i.e. for the fractured futures pic, placing the skyscrapers far apart, having the landscape torn apart with deep gashes and valleys. It truly creates a sense of isolation (and perhaps as the entry is titled, a world on the edge). Overall it's a very intriguing concept, I wonder where it goes from here

In order to get the paradise, i hope that there are some new Einsteins out there to make the next leaps and to hopefully push the clock back. The most brilliant scientific breakthroughs often seems to be almost conceived whole by their progenitors, not unlike the way an artist with a clear ear for the muses. I saw Paul McCartney interviewed once where he said that the melody for 'yesterday' was just in his head one day. He thought it was a song he must have heard somewhere before. Lets hope the same is true of some transformative scientific breakthrough

@Urban Constanta Thanks! @Tyberius06 Appreciate the kind words @Ln X lol true indeed, it's an all you can eat buffet of it @feyss TY & Yup just make sure to get one from a reliable vendor! @Fantozzi haha that's a good analogy and I'm glad you found that particular image useful. @Simmer2 Definitely, it was difficult to get sims to use all the possible routes. linguinis interchange, I like that! @tankmank Thanks man. One things for sure I used up a monthes worth of patience creating the thing and not just because of all the intricacies* of the NAM but becuase of the city crashes as well. @Scribosilyn TY very much! It's great to be back @korver Cool, great to hear that. @MeMyself&I Thanks for the regards, it was my pleasure @philforhockey51 lmao! one day I'm sure you'll make it to where you want to go

Very lovely city here, awesome work

I have to say; I had a ball "driving" through that interchange! Thanks for sharing the layout as well. Your work is very inspirational, as always! Thanks for sharing!

Awesome work, nice to have you back. That has to be one of the most impressive interchanges I've ever seen made for SC4. I just took a look through some of your previous work as well once again.. looks like I have some nominating to do here soon

A great entry. I really like your build style, not every tile needs to be filled in with something, lots of green spaces. I look forward to some more

Wow, another amazingly complicated but cool motorway interchange from you. I have attempted smaller stuff in the past and get confused or annoyed with bits that don't fit. I admire your patience.
  12. 1 point
Wow! That is not a spaghetti interchange, that is a linguinis interchange!! I bet that configuration gives the NAM traffic controller a run for its money! Simmer2

I wouldn't like my GPS to break down while driving there! Great job!

Pretty cool park there, I need to make one like that. Have you thought about using the RRW mod? Your rail network is looks good already but it could be even better with smoothed out turns and crossovers.

Oh ,I get it now thanks!

Thank you, Scale and size of things do leave some choices to be maid. Essential landmarks and structures are there Harbours or Airports or RHW won´t be realisticly covered, Industry do need some improvement; W2W is not done in this case, custom industrial and logistic need a lot of dependacies, time to develope. Most growable you get into maxis sets, yet industrie isn´t that important in this map. Sometime´s mixing one or two custom lots in any zone busines, residential or industrie creates somekind of matching adjacent economical class buildings. Simcity 4 is aswell a building a economcal simulation. Some other series there might be more custom industries, as not having long loading times because of a plugin directory cramed up with stuf wich maybe used or not it takes a lot of scrutiny to sort things out. Sincerely yours, kschmidt

Well, I would have included the Yellowstone Supervolcano as well. If nuclear war does not get us, the infamous Yellowstone is predicted to obliterate everything west of the Mississippi River and put the remainder of the world in a deadly volcanic winter. It's due to happen anywhere from 2025-2075, and even if we don't go extinct, there will only be a few thousand humans remaining, and they would die off not having the luxury of civilization. If it were up to me, the doomsday clock would be 45 seconds to midnight.

After unwinding and standing back from this intense presentation, I think I agree, paradise is the best place to be, but it also does seem to require some very, very good tech. to maintain. Notice I placed the 1x1 'quantum' dish in each of the scenes, continuity of a symbol is an often used device in art. At least at the basis it means something about quality of communication, as well that much of the world's ills may be attributable to either the lack or distortion/corruption of communication.

Interesting idea. I like the paradise ones the best. Let's hope that somehow the real world goes that route rather than the way it appears to be heading.

Southern atmosphere, mid rise lots indeed fit perfectly; larger town maybe more urban less green only in pockets around, high rise for most do need a lot more of infrastructure so whole clean green look will be at stake, well done to the creator and modder of these nice creations, well done !

Thanks Takingyouthere, I pop in from time to time as a guest and see your continued excellent work. No matter how busy we get the lure of SC4 brings us back haha Thank you sir! Whaaaaat! madhatter106, your BATs are some of my favorite! I have tons of them, they're so realistic and versatile. Dude, I wish I could BAT half as good as you.

Cool! It has a very cinematographic feeling BTW, could you tell me where did you find the big red building on the right of the first picture? Looks good! Keep it up!

I must confess that I rarely spend time in the City Journals section of this site, but this being featured on the front page here made me click in. Glad I did; I always enjoy seeing my BATs pop up in others' cities. It makes it feel like all the effort to make them was worth it. Plus I wish my cities looked as good as this...!

Your dedication to realism is unparalleled and the combination of your photoshopping and mmp work is unmatched by anyone playing the game today, well done.

I definitely enjoyed the show, in particular the mmp work the custom building and the creative & asymmetrical shape of the city blocks. All very nice indeed It's unfortunately to hear about the situation in your country. All the negative and worrisome things happening around us can certainly make it hard to enjoy hobbies like playing video games. It's only natural to feel as you do and I hope for all our sakes that things don't get worse and I also hope that you can find something that can give you a respite from it all.

Welcome back mate. Love the tree cover in your city and those traffic gif's are really neat as well.

Even without custom content, I think it's coming along quite nicely. I really like the layout, the location, and the scenery. Interested in seeing where you take it from here

This looks lovely. Loving that interchange and that bridge is pretty damn epic! Really interested to see how you take this and build a city here as, as you've mentioned it isn't exactly city friendly lol. Cheers James

I really do love everything you have to offer. The 'flipped' images certainly are interesting - it's fun to see something from a slightly different perspective for the first time. I appreciated the descriptions for each image, and your MMP skills look pretty nice too. It would be nice, however, to see some more sims strolling those extensive walkways of yours. Whether that comes from lots plopped with those effects or from MMPs (or maybe a mix), I think they will add so much more vibrancy and atmosphere to your city.

Oh, EXCELLENT ! I love the suburbs, airy and inviting ; I like a city that breathe, and this one does, either the suburbs or the city center. Varied buildings, well placed, and you know when to grid and when not to grid ! :-) And I love the adventurous spirit :-) -- the picture with all the retaining walls ; I especially like the use of the uki ones ! The final picture is inspirational (I'm still afraid to try those Jenx Quais de Seine myself....) Only regret : the rock MMPs are way too busy, on the lake shore -- less is more, with small rocks MMPS ; for a rocky shore with no cliffs (or even with moderate cliffs) I found that using Murimk bedrock sets in combinaison with a few sets of smaller rocks and PEG's MMP sets (sand etc.) gives the best results.

Very good! There are some buildings I haven't even seen before! They're probably the Jap ones...

Gorgeous looking beach town! I love your MMP tree selection and the interchanges are looking great!

I really liked your suburbs and the beaches you make. Especially the flora. Are you using any Tree Controller or is it just MMP?

Nice work man, a lot of great scenes in there. I particularly like the railway junction, construction site and the park along the edge of the map.

I have a confession to make, when I first went through the entry I didn't look at a single picture. That's not because I thought they wouldn't be any good - they are definitely fantastic as always. I was just completely enthralled by the story. What a dramatic and shocking conclusion, most certainly fitting end to this wonderful CJ. On another note I can't help but feel like we are kindred spirits in some way because some of your words resonate quite strongly with me, specifically; "recent events in my real life mean that my time in this journal has passed and it is time for me to move on into other endeavours. It feels like for me, I had been travelling alone for too long..." I've come to a very similar realization myself and sadly my time building my region and playing SC4 may soon come to an end as well. Anyhow, Thank you very much for sharing your work on this site and for all the time you committed to it. I hope that whatever path you choose to travel down next will be a fulfilling one.

I really like it! I think it'd look better if there was something in those grassy patches, like maybe some trees or gravel. Also the history bit is really in depth and cool.

I've been trying to think of a comment since you posted this update but I really have few words aside from the usual complement of praises. Your combination of planning, converting, building and photo-editing is truly immaculate here.
