45 pointsCities: Skylines is a modern take on the classic city simulation. The game introduces new game play elements to realize the thrill and hardships of creating and maintaining a real city whilst expanding on some well-established tropes of the city building experience. From the makers of the Cities in Motion franchise, the game boasts a fully realized transport system. It also includes the ability to mod the game to suit your play style as a fine counter balance to the layered and challenging simulation. You’re only limited by your imagination, so take control and reach for the sky! Main features: Multi-tiered and challenging simulation: Constructing your city from the ground up is easy to learn, but hard to master. Playing as the mayor of your city you’ll be faced with balancing essential requirements such as education, water, electricity, police, fire fighting, healthcare and much more along with your citys real economy system. Citizens within your city react fluidly, with gravitas and with an air of authenticity to a multitude of game play scenarios.Extensive local traffic simulation: Colossal Orders extensive experience developing the Cities in Motion series is fully utilized in fully fleshed out and well-crafted transport systems.Districts and Policies: Be more than just an administrator from city hall. Designating parts of your city as a district results in the application of policies which results in you rising to the status of Mayor for your own city.Extensive modding support: Build or improve on existing maps and structures. You can then import them into the game, share them as well as download the creations of other city builders on the Steam workshop.

19 points"It was the place at which Russia faded into infinity, the boundless sea, the invisible barrier between the end of Russia and the beginning of Europe" - Harrison E. Salisbury 9/9/1941 - A building in Kanala Grivoyedova bursts into flames in the middle of the night. Having released its deadly cargo a Ju 88 bomber of the Luftwaffe leaves the horrific scene. Twenty-four-hour round-the-clock watch was established on the roofs of most buildings. These fire fighters were mainly women and their duty was to remove anything burnable from the attics of the city. 25/6/1941 - The famous Egyptian Bridge used to carry Lermontoskiy Prospekt over Fontanka River. It collapsed in 1905 but its obelisks and sphinxes are preserved intact in the northern side. On the 19th of September 276 German bombers hit the city killing more than 1.000 civilians. Five hospitals were damaged and several buildings destroyed. 5/9/1941 - A Yak-1 fighter has managed to make an emergency landing in Lermontoskiy Prospekt. Another aircraft of the same squadron flies over the avenue with a damaged wing. Patriotic murals can be seen both in the wall to the right and the one to the top of the picture. 27/6/1941 - Three barrage balloons are being transported to be placed over Saint Nicholas Cathedral. On each side of the road there is an anti-aircraft gun pointing eastwards. Anti-air balloons have taken the streets in the absence of cars. Leningraders are busy protecting the windows with wooden boards. On the upper floors we see they've used paper strips to prevent shattering. Disclaimer: This CJ includes original photos taken during the siege. To my knowledge none of them is protected by copyright, but if I were wrong I'm happy to delete any picture that infringes the law.

19 pointsUpdate 47 Fall 1884 Previously on New SorGun… The Washington Territorial Legislature passed a bill that gave women equal rights at the ballot box. Mayor Walker was stepping down after decades of service to the little town, and Kitty Timworthy was immediately recruited to run for the vacant position. Eastman Finch, wary of Kitty and her supporters after seeing some of their radical proposals, vowed to run against Kitty and protect the pro-growth policies that had allowed New SorGun to thrive. “What gum!” The sound of Finch’s fist pounding the desk could be heard throughout the house. “This shecoonery must stop today. Miss Kitty and her boodle of bad eggs are spreading so many lies around town, I can barely keep fact from fiction.” Eastman’s face was red with anger. He grabbed the paper on his desk and let it fly across the room. “Reverend Payne and his bull laden excuse for a paper is only icing on the cake…” Ever since Finch announced his intention to run for Mayor of New SorGun, Kitty and her supporters eagerly went to work attacking anything and everything they could to bring Finch down a notch or two. Some issues were legitimate targets, like the safety record at one of the new factories along the wharf that was financed by Finch. Others were purely fabricated rumors meant to slander the businessman’s reputation. (click for full) However, politics in the rough and wild frontier of the late 19th century was anything but a fair game. At first, Finch tried to mitigate the damaging lies by defending himself through public speeches and friendly articles in the newspaper. Unfortunately, his words held little sway among many New SorGunites. It appeared that a large majority were increasingly drawn to Miss Kitty’s fiery oratory and the belief that she was truly looking out for the working class. Kitty Timworthy was a constant presence around Indian Point and the other working class neighborhoods around town. She opened up two more soup kitchens in town, offering free or nearly free meals to those who could barely afford to keep their bellies full. (click for full) Even though many of the soup kitchen patrons were ineligible to vote in the upcoming election, citizens in town who could were taking notice to Mrs. Timworthy’s charitable proclivities. In other words, Kitty was winning the public relations battle. Finch may have been lost in the world of politics, but he was never afraid to get down in the trenches, and as November neared, he realized what he must do. After an early morning stroll along the waterfront, the idea flashed through his head. (click for full) “A debate?” questioned Mr. Myers, as he tried to keep pace with Eastman Finch. The two were darting down Main St. with a vigor Myers hadn’t seen in his friend in months. “You heard right old boy,” Finch exclaimed. “There’s a rumor mill eating up this entire town, and the only way to set things straight is to speak directly to each and every citizen.” “But isn’t that what we’ve been doing with your round the clock speeches and newspaper bits?” wondered Myers. Finch suddenly stopped on the sidewalk. “When you woke this morning and looked out across the town, what did you see Mr. Myers?” Myers fiddled with his chin, recollecting his day and said, “Well, normally I have a wonderful gaze down the train tacks as they slice toward the harbor, but this morning was nothing but fog…” “My point exactly,” interrupted Finch. “A fog has settled in our collective minds as rumors and doublespeak convolute the facts.” Myers studied Finch with a skeptical eye. “A debate, my friendly engineer, will burn away the fog like the afternoon sun, and there will be nothing left to the imagination” Finch concluded proudly. Myers began to speak but Finch cut him off while he swirled back into his hurried pace, “It doesn’t matter if it’s only for a day… A debate will cut through this foggy town and clear the air. A great debate!” (click for full) Finch broached the idea in person to Kitty TImworthy, who readily agreed to the proposal. It would be yet another chance to show this town just how wrong Mr. Finch and his antiquated capitalistic ideas truly were, she thought. So in late October, a week before the election the Great New SorGun debate took place in front of the new town hall. Some would claim the entire town showed up, and anybody there that day would easily agree. (click for full) The air was brisk, that day, but the citizens of New SorGun were too excited to notice. The murmuring from the crowd was quite noticeable, when suddenly Mayor Walker stood up and addressed the crowd. “Ladies and Gentlemen…” Replies to the last Teaser: Ln X: I really like that coast! Also those are some snazzy photoshopped waves. Thank you – it took some experiment in photoshop, but I’m happy with this result. Huston: Tranquil scene it seems. Haven't got a lot of that in a while The calm before the storm NMUSpidey: I can hear the ocean from here! And top notch writer like me? Aw, you are too kind to this here hack. Thanks! Writing is definetly my weakest point when it comes to this CJ. It also takes the most work Mymyjp: awesome mmp work as always! Thank you! slickbg56: Mmmm... I can feel the jellyfish stings and barnacles jabbing my shins already... Awesome work on this! Thanks – every once in a while I need to chill out and ‘paint’ a scene or two. Jetty Jockey: Lookin good. Steep drop off, lots of structure... looks like a good spot for some fishing, if the orcas haven't gotten them all already . In response to your query, yes Cape May County has been revived. That’s great to hear – I’m looking forward to future updates! Packersfan: Oh, wow, you are still going. I thought this thing died...but you just moved exclusively to the City Journal section. I need some help getting historical buildings like you have...especially a fort. I want to do a few shots of historical establishment of my region like you have...but I just don't know where to start. Hopefully I was able to get you started – I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with in your new region. Yarahi: A smalltown Kentucky girl battling the evil of corporate industry for a position of great power?? This could be interesting.. *brings out popcorn* Glad to see you stop by

15 pointsWelcome to Zenebach, a beautiful alpine city nestled in the heart of Neu Westfalen Population: 525,711 Zenebach is the capital of the state of Zeddenick, and the third largest city in Neu Westfalen. A city of just over half a million inhabitants, it lies along the western spine of Neu Westfalen's alpine divide. located along the southern bank of Lake Evehalden, Zenebach has long been a magnet for international tourists. Zenebach in Neu Westfalen, also shown is the capital Evelstadt. The city's iconic water fountain. You may remember Voss Arena from the 2014 AINVision held in the city, this 15,000 seat arena is also a newer addition to the city having been completed in 2010. The adjacent marina has existed since the city's founding in 1882 and serves as the largest mooring on the large alpine lake. Several smaller marinas have since sprung-up around the lake's inlet, reflecting a growth in the popularity of boating and water pursuits in the region. An old park and church located next to Arena Zeddenick and it's training grounds. A large parking garage and adjacent light-rail also serve the stadium and sounding areas. The old Germanic bridge still crosses the river that feeds the lake. It is a popular spot for tourists to take photos and 'selfies'. Zenebach's city park is a significant area of greenery that serves as a relaxation/break spot for the busy employees of the surrounding downtown area. Underneath it lies the large parking complex of the Alverna Spire. The city council building (with the blue, glass roof) sits parallel to the downtown marina. The historic quarter is home to Zenebach's oldest church, musical and movie theaters. But still blends in seamlessly with downtown's newer structures. Central park is a sprawling area surrounding a large natural lake, it also functions as a barrier between the noisy city center and the residential buildings on the opposite side. The city's main library can found just below it. Some outer suburbs, small shops and manufacturing facilities. (Below) The Zeddenick State parliament building (center, parallel to the river) and HSR terminus (the large blue glass building below it). A small business and industrial zone on the other side of the river. (Above) The city's outer limits. (Below) A polytechnic university and convention center. The park strip in the middle divides the apartment blocks from the suburban houses. Zenebach University, sports facilities and surrounding dormitories. A bridge spans the entrance to the lake inlet. The large forest acts as a wind-break between the (sometimes very cold) lake breezes and the inner-city. Likewise the sheltered beaches it creates become excellent summer bathing spots. Some overviews of the city. Zenebach at night, I will make some more night-time images at a later date too. That's it for now, I hope you like Zenebach.

15 pointsREPLIES for " Soon, I will be flying to you." journal Elizabeth is red in the face. She is reading a letter from King Francis, chastising her about harboring his sister to enjoy the "commoner's way of life" and overstepping "the boundary". "Overstepping what boundary? Commoner way of life? Really? This is not the medieval times for God's sake!!! I will show him how it is done in this century!!!" Karl! this is Liz. I want you to contact Sal and have the airport name change to Dashin...yes, you heard me. We are now ready to establish residential and commercial zoning, which should be done in the next couple of months after deforestation has been completed. MOMMY! MOMMY! Looky!!!! A chou chou!!! Yes Timmy, it is a train... *********************************************************** Hey Bro, here's a couple of picture of DASHIN airport Phase 2...Don't lecture me, he started it... 15 pointsReplies: 89James89: Thank you very much. City_Master: I love railyards as they take up a lot of space and it is great fun to connect together all of the various railway tracks. Benedict: Great stuff. tonyr: Thank you. takemethere: Thanks. ffstg24: I would download every building you can find on the STEX which looks great, then just spend dozens of hours every month becoming familiar with them by growing various cities. Don't forget fillers to for realism points, with good fillers and a large building variety you will get a visually appealing city. So good luck with your CJ when you get around to publishing it. tankmank: I agree about the wharfs and lack of walls on the river banks. I glossed that area over because I was rushing to complete Broadsville so as to submit it for the monthly January challenge, but I ran out of time. Mymyjp: Those two buildings are some of the big guns of BATted industry, you can find many others in Paeng's coalmine cheat sheet- http://www.simpeg.com/forum/index.php?topic=10358.0. pinkindustry: Gobias' Berner Oberland terrain mod. Of all the HD terrain mods, the Berner Oberland is the least forgiving for adding rock MMPs because they have a tendency to stand out, but any kind of flora MMP -- except for palms -- will fit in like a glove. On flat terrain the BO terrain mod is at its least spectacular, it's upon large hills and mountains where its real beauty shines. The ARDEN tree controller is the most visually compatible tree controller for this terrain mod. Mayor Gaetan: Others have taken it even further with the little details with the Lot Editor. I think the rust-coloured building you were talking about is fukuda's BLaM HIDP Single Furnace Steel Mill- jacob814: The warehouses come from FrankU's Modular Warehouse Pack- For industry BATs I would recommend fukuda's content on the STEX, on the LEX look for the users jestarr and citynut's BATs, Simcity Polska has a great industrial section- http://www.simcitypolska.pl/index.php?action=downloads;cat=5, Paeng's coal cheat sheet contains amazing relotted industrial BATs- http://www.simpeg.com/forum/index.php?topic=10358.0, lastly one should check out Working Man Productions for rural industry- http://workingman-productions.co.uk/downloads/shore_doc.asp. One must search far and wide to find quality industrial BATs. jgehrts: I have created even larger industrial areas in previous updates. Also I use Ennedi's Slope Mod- https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1512. Rikujo: I use the Berner Oberland terrain mod and for the fences I use Chrisadams3997's RRP Wooden Fences- https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1888. Tonraq: Thank you. TekindusT: Thanks you, however there are still other areas I want to cover such as urban industry mixed with W2W/ghetto flats, apartment blocks and housing. Update 76: Going Medieval I am sorry for the late update but I had interviews this week for teacher training, my teacher training application was rejected but I do have other universities to apply to and one other interview this month. And now here is a medieval town which has survived the centuries and become a tourist attraction. /// /// This Tuesday I have another smaller update showing some W2W R$, more industry and some more filler styles I have come up with. These pictures come from a test city where I work on refining my SC4 building styles. Also on the 15th of Febuary, my birthday, I will finally show to you the hydroelectric dam I have yapping on and off about over the last couple of months.

13 pointsLn X Haha, great strategy TekindusT Thanks, it really depends I guess. These are just the best of them. Never were going to use them so might as well post'em right? Sexysark:P Yes, Randomness FTW Tonraq May be, not really...nahhh tankmank I didn't really feel like I got that atmo. At least you think it though Mymyjp Not really. They're really just random plops coolwiththecool2 It does yeah, I really wanted to try use it somewhere. Too bad this didn't make the cut then Titanicbuff I'm a do it on the spot kind of guy. Thinking ahead doesn't normally work foir me since most of the stuff I do is spur of the moment inspiration. QQ感嘆符 Thanks a lot. I do too, but traffic gets a little bit slow when all the bldgs are just plopped in one, empty tile ____________________________________________________________ ジャパン / 日本 Well, I was in the middle of making a small scene for the Toshiba Pencil Tower BAT I made, when I suddenly decided that the scene was a little more then presentable to just continue until I made a decently sized city scene. I don't delve into Japanese city-styles much, and only just did again now (Then there was last time and the episode on ME:TMW). Again, I mostly made do with what Japanese related content I had. It's so difficult to find content sometimes It's quite a lengthy set of mosaics, both panoramic and a long portrait. Hope you enjoy this little slice of urban Japanese concrete jungle So, I present to you, Azumanokaze Prefecture's Shiba City. The area presented is located in the Shinakiba Ward of Shiba. Well, that's it for today, come back again to get your daily dose for Random from R&R!

13 pointsBeen working on this map compilation, its nearing completion* and I thought maybe someone might be willing to offer some criticisms or suggestions. * still need to work on the mountain valleys, inner harbor and some parts of the two left hand rivers (among other things); the tiny amount of development is mainly some testing.

13 pointsWhile browsing through the 3D warehouse on Google Sketchup, looking for a quick download of a condo or bldg to dump into SimCity to speed up the process of getting this update done ( ), I found few notable bldgs worth readily rendering. But then I found some interesting condo designs that would be good to replicate. So I got down to doing more model work. This is about the 8th building I've made (counting also a few that I threw into the reject pile). It's rather on the generic side too, so people will be probably a little more pleased about it Meanwhile, I continue to tease the upcoming episode with this pic, it's now been pushed to a clean number, E#70. Hope you're liking this collection of content

13 pointsWow.. Michaelangelo is my all time favourite so I take that as an extreme compliment Here's the head. I made this in Z-brush and imported into 3DS Max in case you're wondering It's lost a bit of detail during the import but should be fine for BAT scale.
-
12 points@Tonraq: Overwhelming, isn't it? @Jorge_carrillo: ¡Gracias! @jmsepe: Actually, the condo is quite near the "center", but I took the pic with the sea as a background. Thanks for commenting! @Schulmanator: Thank you very much! @Fox: Thanks, many thanks! Today I'm showing more Al-Qurayyah love! @NielsC007: Thanks for commenting! @slickbg56: Yeah, when I saw this building uploaded, I inmediately thought it had something quite unique, something that deserved a CJ update! And I looked hard for a nice spot for it in Al-Qurayyah... @Benedict: Thank you much for your support! @Ace<3: Thank you! @Sexysark:P: Thanks! Saying Al-Qurayyah is a city, a nation of contrasts, is saying nothing new. All you find here are contrasts. Dark-coloured skyscrapers, well equipped with kilowatts of AC inside, contrast with the traditional light coloured Emirati constructions. The slums and the Olympic City are separated only by Wide Beach... Top models in bikini sipping Cosmopolitans on the Mandarin Oriental rooms, elderly women attending to the prayer at the Old Mosque. Mom and pop stores still survive on the city center, with the always constant pressure of real estate dealers, You never know if tomorrow your business will be demolished to allow room for another skyscraper. The official seat of the government of Al-Qurayyah rises among modest buildings and low single houses. Massive container and oil vessels need to pass through the Strait of Al-Qurayyah, same as small wooden fishing boats. The maneuvring through the strait is a very delicate operation, and the largest ships need hours to go through. Other ships need to wait until the strait is cleared before proceeding. ------------------------------------------------- Liked it? Comments and +1s are welcome!

12 pointsThanks everyone! The tower is more or less done, and has been rotated. Next to do is the base. Finnbhennach: Sorry I forgot to reply after I did my WIP overview post. The noisy appearance is because the building is covered in little tiles. The materials here are the same from my other two Brazillian residential towers, just with the colors changed. Bastet: 1001 Woodward is the same as it's been for like 4 years now. The problem with it is that I need to make a ground texture for the black granite pavers that are around the building. The other problem is that the building's shape doesn't fit onto an orthogonal lot very well and makes a really big and awkward plaza. The back of the lot ends up with a big plaza that makes it seem like it should be the front of the building even though it's the back, and the way the back of the building has such a big setback would make it hard to put next to other buildings. But this time I am going to resolve all of my WIPs, and I won't be able to put off 1001 anymore. Sgt Pepper: yeah I know you've always really liked 1001. You even made your own 1001ish building. I feel bad for leaving it 95% finished for so long. Hotwheeler: yep I have that already! Floor plans make modeling things a lot easier. I do the same thing that I do in my "deriving dimensions from google earth" tutorial except the floor plan is already accurate, undistorted, and scaled. So with the floor plan I add a grid that is correctly scaled to measure thing with, and I scale other references I find to the floor plan. Thank you though. WIP List: Grand Haven Lighthouse (needs: query, update modding, export prop versions))Big Red Lighthouse (needs: query, updated modding, export prop/hd versions) Porto Ponta Negra Residence (needs: base, nitelites, modding) Design Research HQ (needs: some modeling, texturing, store goods, nitelites, modding) 220 West Congress (needs: texturing, nitelites, modding) Art Deco Department Store () Water Street Maisonettes () Northern Trust Bank () The Kean () 1001 Woodward (need to figure out lotting, ground texture. needs: modding, query) Old Detroit Police HQ () The Pavilion (0% complete, as i'll be restarting it) New National Gallery (might be cancelled)

11 pointsI'll get a few renders with them sitting on their foundations later. The top 2 rows are the same building and will be a corner lot.
-
11 pointsAlong with the Crown completion, I started a "little" project i wanted for a while. It will take a loooong time to complete it but I have created the main facade recently. I let you judge : The night light is not the real one, but I created this one just to try...

10 pointsReplies before last post Shy Dude- I have thought about doing that on my roofs but not on all of the building it will make sense to do the sloped roofs for the row houses because I think you can see them better. SimCoug- Thank you!!! Reply for last post Thank you guys!!! 243 Mount Eden Parkway (A SimCoug Request) Here's a small up date on the building next should be the nightlights and add some ac units in the windows.
-
10 pointsFrist thanks for all the comments and idea's it will become a farming city with a small shipping, and medium freight train station as I do not have enough industry plugins hope you like the picture for now this is going to take awhile but I have a goal.
-
10 pointsThe day version is now 95% done. So I think the upper left render is supposed to be the front of the building. In real life it's on a slope, and there's an entrance to underground parking, but since this is flattened there's no room for a garage door. So there's just kind of a wall there. On the other hand, the render on the bottom right is supposed to be the side, but to me it really seems like for the game this would be the best suited to being the front of the building. The area in front of the main entrance is extremely confusing in street view. I know it's probably wrong but there's no way for me to tell what's right. All I know is that there's some walls and paths and plants there. But I think that area looks pretty good anyway. There's a few things left to do. There's the horizontal lines on some of the stuff by the swimming pool which I'd like to remove. There's also a tiny bit of wall near the pool that I can't see but I think it's orange tiles. Other than those things the day version is done, unless someone has anything to say!

10 pointsThanks everyone. I'm hoping to release this set soon. Hopefully March? I have about 40 models to export and mod which is annoying and aggravating having to test them all and make sure the work properly. Sometimes I'll export the whole family of buildings and mod them then test them in game only to find out all 4 or 5 models don't light up at night or somehow zoom 4 east view is all distorted for some reason. Then I have to open 3dsmax again and redo the LODs on all day and night files and try again. Fingers crossed that I don't have any issues with this latest batch of models. Yeah I completely blocked all maxis houses and use CP, JMyers, Andisart, spa, Mattb325 and Simgoober houses mostly. Probably forgot a few others. Thanks. I am not CP even though 99% of the props and textures on my lots are made by him. I swear! I looked through his thread over at sc4devotion a few times and I can't wait for him to release some of that stuff. The thought of new CP prop and texture packs... oh man... and those farms look amazing, too. I use Autodesk Maya for most of my modeling. I find that I work a lot slower in 3ds Max and really dislike editing UVs in Max. I have never used Sketchup before. I know nothing about that program. Here are a few of the latest models with their foundations. Think I need to darken the foundation bricks and desaturate a bit to make them look a bit more neutral. Also made a few more garages.

9 pointsReplies: Mymyjp: Thank you. Schulmanator: Thanks, you to also have a knack for creating Medieval towns and classical European styled cities. iviaarten: I plopped in the uniform fields, the ones with clearly defined rows, and then I add MMPs to one field to obscure the square edges, while I used tree filler tiles to border the edges of the second field. As for the pasture field for the cows I used a terrain brush to alter the terrain's textures, the terrain brush of xannepan's; JENX POSEIDON Water Effects (v1.0) which is a very useful water mod and is the only mod I know which contains a terrain brush. I wish there were more terrain brushes as it would greatly diversify SC4 landscapes and cut down substantially on MMP work. ffstg24: Thanks a lot, the fields around the medieval town were very quickly created. My inspiration came from Fasan's Krokanien MD on SC4D, Fasan is the master, the wizard, the el supremo of rural areas, urban sprawl and diverse landscapes. MilitantRadical: Cheers! sirrus1980: Thank you. wwetom1: Thanks a lot. Also, any chance of updates from your CJ? I always liked the style you went for with the sidewalks, fillers and lots. NMUSpidey: I love putting things together in SC4, the game has become a massive arts package with its own quirky limitations to work around. It isn't called grid-busting for nothing! jacob814: You don't need to access fukuda's website, all of his content is on the STEX- on Simtropolis itself. Benedict: Thank you. Huston: This is a tourist spot and one inspired by a historically restored village/area called Beamish Museum. TekindusT: This was a technique I emulated from Fasan's MD. tankmank: Cool! And thanks for your comment. Update 77: Blue Collar Heartland It looks like this test city of mine is rapidly becoming a city fit for this CJ, I just need to think of a suitable name for this city. So here are some preview pictures of the low wealth areas and industrial complexes. Enjoy! ///

9 pointsSome peanut butter M&Ms helped get me through the rest of the roof junk. I don't know what I would have done without them. There's just a little more roof junk modeling to do, then there's texturing for the roof, the back walls, and then the day version will be complete. Hotwheeler: One of the great things about doing fictional buildings is that you get to decide what the roof junk will be yourself. And I usually have minimal roof junk and what I do have I often times reuse from other buildings. For recreations though, the roof junk has to be modeled to look like the real roofjunk. tonyr, JP Schriefer, City_Master: Thanks! Odainsaker: Well you can take pride that the roof junk that you've done so far has been excellently made. I agree though, the real unpleasant thing about roof junk isn't so much modeling it, as it tends to just be a bunch of boxes and tubes, it's getting good reference images. For this I only have google and bing, and from only two directions as it's surrounded by taller buildings. OmniBLACK: Those lighthouses are from western michigan. But as far as buildings in downtowns, it's not super likely. There's a few that both of us have wanted to do from the very beginning but the buildings tend not to fit evenly on SC4 lots, so it's not really possible. 77 Monroe in Grand Rapids for example is 26 m wide and deep. To fit on a 32x32 m (2x2) lot, it would need to be scaled up 116% which would make the building noticeably distorted. A bunch of other buildings in Grand Rapids are diagonal. The lovely art deco tower in Kalamazoo is 23 m wide which is even worse. I'm sure there are other buildings that are possibilities but all of the landmark downtown buildings we've looked at don't fit. Eventually some stuff from western michigan will get made though. Someday! T Wrecks: Odainsaker is one of the only BATers who can make me sad with their unreleased wips.

8 pointsI might do some, yes. But they will be minimal Yeah, a few night lights are great. Buildings without any night lights cannot be the best ones. I suppose the damaged building is almost done now. Waiting for its release! All these bldgs (About 6 or 7 of them if I'm correct), will be downloadable after a special update on ME:TMW. Plus I need time to render the night scenes since they'll take quite a while to do. Chances are, one of them will take near 1/4 a day to finish. Progress report D: GOOGLE SKETCHUP DOWNLOADED REFRENCE BUILDING V. MY MODEL. I'm not very good at making small storefront shop facades if you can't tell

8 pointsThat private content makes me jealous I don't have it Nice pic. It's evident that you've been pruning the city a bit to make it flow better I'm still stuck on my Vancouver 2186 Mini-project. It's taking aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages. Got new additions though_

7 pointsOuisconsin County - Exploring the Ouisconsin River <DoW Update 111:02.10.15> Welcome to a new phase for the District of Wenzel. We are moving to a different area of the district. This area dubbed Ouisconsin is about 300 miles northwest of Martin County. Now we go back before civilization reached the forests of the District of Wenzel. About 300 miles to the southeast, Martin Town has been establish at the mouth of Brittany River along the shores of Sapphire Lake. Surveyors were sent out along the various rivers flowing into and out of Sapphire Lake. One team led by Captain Samuel Hitchcock discovered an even larger river flowing into Sapphire Lake hundreds of miles north of Martin Town. Hitchcock named the river Ouisconsin meaning the gathering of waters. The team made their way up the lazy river searching for the headwaters. As the trees changed color, the Hitchcock and his men landed on a a wooded peninsula just after discovering a tributary to Ouisconsin which Hitchcock labelled as Liberty River on his map. Captain Hitchcock, Lieutenant John Weston, Sergeant Robert Clefton, Courtnay Fisher, Elisha Moorhead, Timothy Baker, Oliver Putnam, and Venton Davis disembarked and began clearing the land to build some winter shelter. Captain Hitchcock and Lieutenant Weston explored further along the river while the other six men established a base of operations at Camp Liberty. Hitchcock's men built two small cabins to provide shelter from the winter cold. Hitchcock and Weston continued to survey the area while Venton Davis and Courtnay Fisher, the group's best hunters, provided fresh deer and rabbit meat. We are here. Welcome to Ouisconsin! I hope to be able to do a little bit of historical stuff with the region, establishing various outposts, chronicling the settlements growing into an expansive metropolis. I could use a lot of help though with ways to make my region historical...how to have no cars, good lots to use, how to "power" in a time when things didn't have electric power. I hope SimCoug can help me out with some of these questions, and I hope I can do my vision justice.

7 pointsReddonquixote - Thanks. I'll probably use a really strong bump map there indeed. Or maybe do just cubes as seats.. Huston - And you've to teach me yours Tonyr - Thank you Vlasky - Thanks, it'll help me, I'm thinking about start the building again, let just the base. Toothless Stitch - I tried this way, but the model in the end was with almost 40 millions polygons! So it didn't work, I'll use a bump map. Bastet69008 - Thank you Elavery - Thanks Jasoncw - Thank you. I looked for that as you said, but the process is too advanced for me I'll try other ways for now. There's still a lot of time to finish it Jmsepe - Yea, I knew about it, but his model has a lot of errors and nonexistent parts, so I decided to do it anyway. In the last update with 'Colégio Loyola' there was only the now modeling is 90% complete with the second building and the sports complex. Now there's only a small building next to the top court and details such as trash bins, door handles etc. With trees probably I'll try to do something lowpoly. I'll finish the building because I'll use it outside SimCity. However'm seriously thinking if that BAT will really go to STEx, after making the BAT I realized that in SimCity angle the school is very weird. I'll texture it later and see if I convince myself. All the images are in zoom 5, you can click on them to see in the original size. Click on the spoiler to see the original school and the rendered model at the same angle:

7 pointsArt Decó is really beatifull, I'm a true fan of it. Thanks for commenting, please do come back, there is more Brazilian art decó awaiting for you! Muito obrigado, to both of you! I really admire you guys and I hope you come back to this thread for more ! Oh yes, the countryside of the Northeastern region is home to a very peculiar and criative architecture, and I'm really trying to represent that fact. Thank you very much for the comment! Phew, thank God TWrecks' keyboard was spared! I'm really glad you liked it! Muito obrigado! Yes, unfortunately... but, even tough most details won't show up, I really think they are worth making their appearence at least in my model. Thanks! Please do come back! Don't worry, I have tweaked the roofs and they look slightly better now. I will surelly release the Igreja da Penha in SD rather than HD. Obrigado for the comment! So, I have been messing around with my houses and here's a little preview of my progress so far. Just a reminder, those LOT's were made with testing purpose only. I hope you guys enjoy it and I hope to soon come back with another preview. Sorry for the bad quality image, hehe. Thanks everyone for showing up and commenting!

7 pointsThanks The reason why it was so hard is I had a few really difficult problems to solve along the way. At a couple of points I really got stumped on how to proceed. Also, it's very far from perfect still, but I've stopped at this point because I think its going to be good enough for BAT scale. If it was going to be a full scale model I'd need to do more work on it. To make the actual crown: 1) I started with a long box poly, divided into 27 sections. That's 25 windows and a closed section at each end. It also had 5 height sections. 2) In the side view, I contoured one side of the box so it makes that curving ridged shape that faces outwards on the crown. 3) I created an arch-shaped poly using a cylinder, sliced in half and extruded out the bottom. I replicated it 25 times and fit each one inside a window section. 4) I turned the long box into a pro-boolean and subtracted the arches to make the cutouts of the windows. 5) I attached cylindrical shapes to each end of the box to make the ends of the crown, and squashed a sphere and placed at both end to make the large buttons. I used a long plane to fit the window glass, with 5 height sections also contoured to the shape of the window in the side view. Then I attached all these together into a single object. At this stage I've nearly made the entire crown as a straight piece (as opposed to a curved crown) The mistake I made here, a few times, is I tried to do step 5 after I'd already curved the crown. I kept going back to step 5 multiple times. I used stacked modifiers probably for the first time in a model. This really helped because rather than having to keep starting again from scratch, I just deleted the unwanted modifiers. Its like a really powerful 'undo' function (The trick is to keep adding Edit Poly modifiers for anyone that's not done this before. Largely unnecessary for most BATs though) To make the curving crown shape: 6) I added a Quadify Mesh** modifier. 7) I added a Bend modifier. This gives the crown its rounded shape. 8 ) I added a Taper modifier, with Primary Taper Axis 'X', and Effect 'Z'. This makes the crown taller in front and shorter at the sides. I used a negative value Amount and zero Curve on the taper. 9) I added a 2nd Taper modifier, with Primary Taper Axis 'Z', Effect 'Y', zero Amount, and positive value Curve. This didn't work as well on the final version of the model, but what this does is flatten out the ridge contours at the sides of the crown, a problem I found especially challenging. 10) To makes the spikes, I created a large, flat cylinder, sliced in half, with 28 sides. At the fifth side from the end, and every 2 sides after that, I selected a poly, then used Bevel to extrude the spikes. 11) I grouped the objects together and tilted the entire model, probably about 15 degrees. **The biggest problem here was bending and tapering the model kept resulting in stretching, tearing and deforming of the poly's. After a few attempts to fix this problem, I discovered the Quadify Mesh modifier (trial and error basically). I set it to 1%, but what this does is make a really tight mesh for the model, enabling more controlled deformations. Here's the straight crown piece, before and after the Quadify Mesh modifier. (This is a really early version of the model though) Here's the full final version in wireframe mode:

6 pointsslickbg56- Thank you!!! Hotwheeler- Thank you!!! Vlasky- Thank you team mate!!! T Wrecks- Thank you for that buddy!!! Peter Stuyvesant Here's a new building for you NYC fans, I needed to get back on Manhattan, because Aaron is one of the NYC apartments Kings for Sim City 4. A question for you guys, do you know the name of the building to the right of Peter Stuyvesant in google maps, it was created by a NYBT member. 6 pointsSo last week I actually changed my desktop to all of my WIPs, and as I finish them I'm going to cross them out. This is what I now look at: WIP List: Grand Haven Lighthouse (needs: query, update modding, export prop versions))Big Red Lighthouse (needs: query, updated modding, export prop/hd versions) Porto Ponta Negra Residence (needs: nitelites, modding) Design Research HQ (needs: some modeling, texturing, store goods, nitelites, modding) 220 West Congress (needs: texturing, nitelites, modding) Art Deco Department Store () Mystery Building (needs: some texturing, nitelites, modding) Water Street Maisonettes () Northern Trust Bank () The Kean () 1001 Woodward (need to figure out lotting, ground texture. needs: modding, query) Old Detroit Police HQ () The Pavilion (0% complete, as i'll be restarting it) New National Gallery (cancelled) So I've decided to cancel the New National Gallery, which I don't think I ever even posted about until now. I had started it in 2013 after an architectural visualization website had a competition where people would do materials and lighting and stuff for the New National Gallery, and they provided the model. I downloaded the model to look at it, and figured that since the New National Gallery was something I'd like to BAT that I'd adapt it. Well all I did was open the file, start cleaning it up, and make a few materials. So that's cancelled. I still have the model the website provided if I ever wanted to do it anyway though.

6 pointsSo, no generic progress being made right now. Still focused on sci-fi towers in Vancouver. Made this from towers found in-game, with about an hour's worth of input lol. A few of the extra details pushed it to about an hour. Most of it is in sketchup, touch ups (such as these pre-made building damage pieces) are being made in 3dsMax. I pretty much just took the designs from imported game models and refined it for use in SimCity, since the original version would be far too low definition to appreciate. Plus it was lacking structural damage. It's a 300 meter tall skyscraper. This just happens to be the damaged version as well. *Might render a non-damaged version afterwards.

6 pointsOK, time for revelations. Give this man a cookie! Indiana, you guessed it about right in your first assumption already. As I said before, you don't need any plugin in the game to achieve this kind of bridges, floating tunnels, et al. All you need is: - SimCity4 (duh!) - The big magic wand: SC4Terraformer (get it here from the SC4D LEX) The Terraformer allows you to change the terrain in mayor mode cities without destroying anything that might been already built there. It does not touch any existing trees, flora, building, networks, etc... A note of warning: As the SC4Terraformer was programmed for Windows XP, I don't know if the Terrafomer will work on your machines. I somehow remember that some people had troubles running the program on newer systems and Windows versions. A number of them managed to get it to work with the compatibility mode, others couldn't. So there is, unfortunately, no guarantee. Fact is that the Terraformer works on my Windows7 64bit version without any problems at all; I don't even have to use the compatibility mode. So all I can say is that it might also work on your machines. Having said that, it's finally time to build something. I'll take the floating tunnel as a (short) tutorial example. First, lay down your network (or lot, flora, whatever ...) you want to manipulate the terrain underneath it. The important part here is only the highway, you don't actually have to place the El-Rail and Train networks yet. Save the game and exit. Now, backup your region in case anything goes wrong. Start SC4Terraformer, select your region and unprotect the cities where wou want to change the terrain. Scroll to the part to be modified ... ... and flatten the area. Save the region. Mind the warning and be sure to choose 'no' in this case, else your city or modification is gone. Start SC4 again and load your city. It should now show like this. Build something. The DrawPaths cheats shows a fully working tunnel. In this case, I started with a flat terrain and built the FARHW part first. Then I dug the river trench with the Terraformer. Back in SC4, I put down the rest of the networks and the other bridges over the now existing river. Have fun exploiting. (And I really hope that I have avoided getting run over by the Angry Mob Fun Run ... )

5 pointsAmazing Heblem. Just when we thought it's long gone, you revive the SInger building! However, I'm not sure if you knew this detail, but the building was stripped of its Beaux-Arts ornaments at some point. Therefore, since you're recreating it, I'd like to see them re-done and to see this building in its full glory. Please consider adding these details. Here are some reference pics: Also consider that it was w2w on two sides, so it's basically a corner building. Great job and looking forward to seeing more!

5 pointsHuston: Wow,what an impressive and interesting (but still kinda weird and unconventional) building. Not sure what hit this building but it still shows much of it`s style, even in damaged state. Those circular things at the base, are these hallways? Also the new Vancouver Condos look really nice.Big enough to stand out but not too big to be complete out of place in an existing neighborhood. kelistmac: Your harbor turns out really nice.Love the small details like crates and workers scattered all over the place.Keep on the good work. Well,i also have something small to show.I`m currently working on another area in Manhattan, but still very close to the last location i showed in my Diary. Maybe you can guess the place. This Church is surrounded by tunnels, tunnel entrys and exits, new and old development and loks kinda out of place...
