30 pointsUpdate 46 1884 Previously on New SorGun… The system that has kept New SorGun moving forward is hitting a few bumps on the road. Kitty Timworthy has brought together a coalition of various groups with the sole interest of bringing down Eastman T. Finch and the other elites who run the town… While Kitty’s movement was gaining momentum, Finch and his supporters couldn’t seem to catch a break. The recession of 1882 was beginning to be felt in New SorGun. A number of businesses were shutting their doors for good and the current leaderships promises of growth and prosperity began falling on deaf ears. Kitty saw the shifting momentum as a sign that her cause was just, but something happened on November 23, 1883 that even she couldn’t believe. After many previous attempts, the Territorial Legislature finally passed a bill that gave women the right to vote. Only the Wyoming and Utah territories had enacted women’s suffrage prior to the Washington territory. Finally, Kitty and the rest of her sisters would have the same voice in the polling booths as their husbands, brothers and fathers. Almost immediately, Kitty was approached by a number of supporters begging her to run for Mayor in next year’s election. It was no secret that Mayor Walker, now almost 70, was stepping down after almost two decades of service to the little frontier town. In that time, Walker had seen New SorGun grow from a few shops along Main Street, to a lively commercial center. (animation) Until now, folks didn’t give too much thought as to who would replace the well-loved retiring mayor, but with the events of the past few years it became apparent that the future of their town could hinge on the upcoming election. As winter gave way to the spring of 1884, Kitty finally caved to the pressure and announced her candidacy for Mayor as the ‘Peoples Candidate’. (click for full) There was an immediate wave of excitement throughout town. Suddenly, disenchanted groups of citizens finally felt they had a real representative who would fight for their interests. Women, workers, prohibitionists and other groups from across the political spectrum all celebrated the possibility of capturing the highest political position in the region. However, not everyone was leaping on ‘The Peoples’ bandwagon. Some of Kitty’s supporters, including the Knights of Labor held a spiteful reputation for rabble-rousing and causing trouble. Many in town, including business owners, investors, farmers and others feared ‘The Peoples’ ticket and the harm they could do to New SorGun by pursuing their reforms. Despite what many of Kitty’s supports claimed, New SorGun had achieved amazing growth and prosperity under the guidance of the businessmen who made up the current political administration in town. (click for full) After Kitty’s announcement, the business leaders in New SorGun realized they would need to nominate a strong candidate to have any chance of retaining the mayor’s seat. A number of names were batted around, but in the end only one man had the charisma, expertise and popularity to challenge the People’s Ticket. “Mr. Finch, some gentlemen are here to see you…” Eastman T. Finch was reluctant at first. Politics usually made his skin crawl and he always managed to keep his distance from the ‘great circus,’ as he usually called it. But he had seen first had what a savage band of citizens could do, and he was fearful of the ‘People’s Ticket’ and their agenda. When Finch faced a difficult decision, he was in the habit of reaching out to his good friend Anthony S. Myers. Myers always knew that he was more of a sounding board to Finch’s thoughts and rarely had any meaningful sway in his decision making process, but it suited Myers just fine – he actually enjoyed his friends company. On a beautiful spring morning, the two men met by the docks, which was Finch’s favorite place to be in New SorGun. (click for full) Finch sighed as he leaned over to feed the birds, “I've never enjoyed politics… I’d much rather create something with my own to hands than step into that mud pit.” Anthony Myers laughed as he looked out on the harbor, “Your suits are too nice to be soiled in mud. I don’t blame you for staying out of the fray.” Eastman gave a smirk. “Besides, I’ve never seen a politician build anything but their own ego,” Mr. Myers continued. “Unfortunately, my friend, I don’t think we can build our way out of this one,” said Finch sullenly. Myers listened to the gulls circling above docks. “The thought of a free meal sure whips them into a frenzy…” Finch sighed, “Yes, the gulls are similar to people in that respect…” “Perhaps, but some would say birds are more civilized,” replied Myers. Finch watched quietly as the seagulls clashed over the last crumbs of bread. A week later Finch held a gathering of his friends and associates next to the new town hall, which was still under construction. “My friends,” Finch began, “thank you for coming. As we stand here today, we can look across this marvelous patch of land and be proud of our little town. I first stepped foot on Yarahi’s pier nearly twenty years ago – I still remember the day fondly. It was only a few shops and houses then, but New SorGun was bustling with energy, and it electrified me. Today that energy continues to build and together we have erected a shining beacon that illuminates the region.” Finch paused as the gathered crowd nodded and clapped in approval “Now, Most of you know that I have little patience for politics, but I believe we have come to a crossroads,” Finch continued. “There are some who believe our great achievements are not worth the price and everything we have built constitutes a sin against man.” There were grumbles of disapproval from the crowd. “I, however, will not be shamed into exodus,” Finch bellowed. “I hold my head high and look around this great town with pride in my heart. I accept your nomination and on Election Day I hope to humbly stand before you as the next mayor of this exceptional town.” Anthony Myers clapped loudly in approval along with entire crowd. He believed in his friend and his principles, but he couldn’t escape the worrying feeling that had been nagging him since Finch informed him of his intention to run. Anthony knew Finch would be a highly capable Mayor, that much was certain, but Myers understood his friend better than most, and deep down he was worried that a highly public and vicious campaign would break Finch. His friend’s public persona was always steadfast, but behind closed doors Eastman Finch would brood and fret over personal attacks and unflattering gossip. Myers could only hope that Eastman would grow a tougher hide over the coming months, otherwise he feared what would become of his friend. (click for full) I want to send a special ‘thank you’ to C.P. for graciously allowing me use some of his unreleased 19th century models. These will be popping up in New SorGun with more regularity in the future. If you have a second, I would strongly recommend taking a look at his BAT thread over at SC4Devotion – its chock full of amazing SC4 treats. Replies to the last Teaser... Mymyjp: Thanks and I hope you enjoy the growth of the region. Entry 2: Mount Hayley Right, welcome back. Today were heading north from our small town to take a look at the centre of the island, which as you can see fromt his image is dominated by a very obvious landmark. This would be Mt Hayley. Named after the local resident Hayley Keaton, when she decided to drunkedly make a bet that she could easily be the first person to scale it. This, she amazingly enough (given that she still very drunk when she set off) managed to do leaving a very impressed Mayor Poppins to name the the landmark after her. Rather ironically however Hayley had sobered up considerably by the time she'd reached the summit and upon looking down remembered she was terrified of heights and had to be rescued by some more experienced climbers before she could make her descent, hence why you can see emergency flares in the above image. Anyway, as the area featured a large amount of relatively flat terrain, farms popped up like daisy's and have so far spread around the entire south side of the mountain and its adjoining ridge. As for actual residencies there are four named ones in the area. To the South East of Mt Hayley, Hayleys Descent, which is the sister and rival town to Hayley's Ascent with both being settled by people who coudlnt agree on whether the point where they drunkedly cheered Hayley on at the start of the climb or the point where they worridely greeted her on her return trip down was more important, can be seen here alongside the small town of Pendrington Whereas, to the South West you can see the aforementioned Hayley's Ascent and the town of Hayley (founded by people who were more intent on founding a town in a sound geographical location rather than on some local woman). As you can see the area around Hayley and Hayleys Ascent seems to have spread a lot more successfully than the area around the other two towns but this is mostly down to the town of Hayley rather than Hayleys Ascent being the right place to celebrate the local Heroine, despite what the residents of Hayleys Ascent might tell you. Anyway other than that the only real other thing of note is Pendrington Woods located just south of Pendrington as a attempt to appease environmentally minded residents by Mayor Poppins after building the coal power plant (interestingly enough you can see the Mayor had no qualms about placing power pylons throguh the forest though so that energy could be supplied from the coal power plant rather than the area having to provide their own. You can also see farmer Maggues radio tower converted from a old power pylon that used to help provide energy to the otherside of the forest before farmland surrounded it. Its also the first radio station of the whole area). Anyway that's all I have for now so here's a image of some lovely rural spread for you all till next time. Cheers James

8 pointsHello, I'm Yumi-chan! This update is about my work on Osaka Prefecture. Yes, I am still working on Hiroshima, the city tile is almost done. I am going to start numbering my pictures, from this update and on. This will be a large update, with 22 pictures. The style here will be a lot different from the style in Hiroshima, as the Osaka style quite a bit different from. Enjoy! 1. This right here is the city of Sennan, Osaka Prefecture(泉南市、大坂府). The city population in real life is 65,315, while my Sennan has 86,804. WOW. I exceeded the population by over 20,000! But then again, I had to fill in all of the space. So now comes the statistics. Density (Urban): 22,257 people per square kilometer. Density (All): 5,425 people per square kilometer. Land Area (Urban): 3.9 square kilometers. Land Area (All): 16 square kilometers. Enough about statistics, on to the city! 2. Right here on this intersection, you can see the Nogami Hospital. I chose the Maxis hospital as it looked very much like it. 3. This right here is one of Sennan's lakes. As you can see, there are people canoeing in lake. 4. This is a small commercial center with a post office. 5. This right here is one of the really nice roads. Very pretty! 6. NITORI HOME FURNISHINGS (The building with the big light blue sign and the parking lot) HAS ALL OF YOUR HOME FURNITURE BUYING NEEDS! 7. This right here is the train station in a large commercial area. This train station sees 1,694 people every day! (Would this be a lot of people? If it is, then I will let you in on my tips to getting your Mass Transit used more. Say in the comments.) 8. This is another large train station. It sees 1,060 people every day! It has a lot of commercial around it. 9. Here is a nice area of town. 10. A few restaurants, offices, and shops. 11. This is the tallest building in the city. It stands out a lot. 12. A dense urban area. 13. Here is Sennan's major seaport, next to it are some factories and houses. 14. This is an area surrounded by forests. 15. Here is an Overview of the middle of the city. 16. Now the left side of the city. 17. And the right part of the city. (Part 1) 18. More of the right part of the city. (Part 2) 19. Now night pictures! Yay! (Part 1 of right side of city) 20. The right side of the city at night. (Part 2) 21. The middle part of the city at night. 22. The left part of the city at night. So that was the update! Phew! That was a lot of pictures! Sorry, no real life pictures (Because I've never been there. The information for this city was gotten from the internet) Well, I hope you enjoyed! Comment, and feel free to ask about what mods I use! I would also appreciate negative criticism. If there is something you don't like, or something you think that I am doing wrong, please tell.

6 pointsAfter years of planning, construction, and anticipation, the brand new Saturnia International Airport has opened. It is located in Port Town, a northern Saturnia neighborhood that once served as a large industrial center. Saturnia is no longer as big an industrial center, so many of the factories and refineries sat derelict for years, even. This means many industrial companies that stood were forced out of the area. However, the old Saturnia airport was too small and too close to the skyscrapers of Downtown Saturnia. Today is the day in which the new airport is opened, where there will be much festivity. The first plane is scheduled to land on 12:00 exactly after departing from the existing Saturnia International Airport. This small plane seating 75 will contain a veteran pilot who has been to every country in the world, as well as volunteer firefighters and police officers. The plane departed the original airport at 11:00, planning on flying around the Saturnia area before landing at the new airport, making the six year construction period seem worth it. Foremost, the new complex is a contemporary facility boasting two terminals (one for domestic travel, the second for international travel), two massive parking garages, three runways, hangars and fueling facilities, and a hotel. The International Terminal has room for bus pickups/dropoffs, a large food court, a sleek, modern design, and the important things; currency exchange, travel information, and seating for waiting for your plane. The garage at the International Terminal is massive, as well as having its own rail station. For a city Saturnia's size, a garage for an airport on that scale is vital. Airport security shouldn't be need lest something unlawful occur. So is airport fire station. Better safe than sorry. There are three runways for the airport, one that is best for small planes, the other two can have planes fly across the oceans. A hotel is also attached to the complex, which is fine for business travelers. As stated before, planning for this airport's construction took years. Proposals for the airport were first seen as early as the mid 1990's. Construction on the complex began in 2006, 9 years ago. Today's event shows the amount of time, effort, money, and energy put into this. But because of all that, Saturnia is more accessible and new than ever before.

6 pointsNeue Steiermark: Kolibri, Part 2 The District of Neue Steiermark is located in north-central Schulmania, along the border of Imperial Mookimia and Mookimian Verà. Today, we visit Kolibri, the capital of Mookimian Verà, and where Queen Vera has one of her two palaces. Kolibri is the northernmost regional capital in Schulmania. It sits along the northern shore of the Fresca River, the border with Mookimia. The fairly remote location gives it strategic importance for trade and defense. The Strategic Fish Reserve is located just across the river. A military garrison is just west of town, along the road leading to Tenne. Mookimian Verà is not heavily developed and consists mainly of thickly forested rolling hills. Timber and game are the primary sources of income in the hinterland, but valuable ore deposits should encourage more trading outposts. At present, Kolibri is the largest city between Padoha and the subarctic Republic of Leeviousia to the north. It should be an interesting city. We arrive at the ferry terminal on the north shore of the Fresca River. The district's Transit Office building is adjacent and provides a home for the various infrastructure bureaucrats (bureau cats??). The stately red brick Trade Center serves as the primary source for goods coming in and out of town and the surrounding area. If you get worn out from tall of the dealing there is always the hotel next door. It had lovely grounds as well as nicely furnished rooms. Our first stop today is Queen Vera's palace. She is not in today but the grounds are open as a public park. There are lovely views of the river and nice gardens for strolling... See? Grand Vizier Nicholas is manning the queen's office whilst she is away in Harar. He is ably assisted by Sir Christopher Baxou and Lady Grace Anderson. They are a great team and take great care of the queen's subjects. The Chapel of the Felicitous Feline is in the heart of town. This afternoon there is an organ concert. Famed organist Jared McCoy is playing an assortment of Motley Crue classics scored for pipe organ. Don't miss it! Afterwards, stop by Bruner's Market. Here, you can find all sorts of delicious treats and other fun stuff. And, at great prices! Derek Adams and his wife Miranda live here in fashionable Jackson Square. They are hosting a reception for after the organ concert. There will be Fancy Feast served. Come join us! Maybe you'd like dinner at Zevende, a charming restaurant-gift shop kind of thing. Sort of like Schulmania's Cracker Barrel... Residents of Kolibri are happy to live in such a cool new town. Visit us today and see for yourself why Kolibri is the "Jewel of the Northlands."

5 pointsReplies: Entry 3: Gridlocked rubbish Well were back and this entry will show that, even with a good plan in place, sometimes things can screw that up for you. So what was this plan? To fill up the rest of the tile of Central Garton. What actually happened? Well it started off well, with more farms and snaking streets continuing to fill up the area. In fact, it went so well, that the local farmers decided that they needed some central place to sell their produce leading to a farmers market being opened up in Hayley (yet again proving that Hayley was a more sound idea than Hayleys Descent and Hayleys Ascent). However as this following image shows there was a slightly rubbish problem building up in town. Yup rubbish. Now, seeing as, (despite the stupidity of some of the residents of Garton) someone was probably before long going to realise that the rubbish they were leaving out wasn't actually being collected by anyone and that might lead them to get a bit annoyed. Mind you as you can imagine, they didn't really want the proposed tip on their back door so we had to find another place for it. This was the solution Welcome to what is probably quite literally the most rubbish place to live in Gaton, Tipton. Originally just a landfill, the small amount of factories sprung up next ( because screw it, the area already has a landfill a little more pollution isn't going to hurt) and then slowly housing inevitably followed. Now we did try to make it a little bit better by adding the recycling centre but by and large it obviously isn't the best place to live. Anyway with that problem out of the way another one arose. Apparently 4,000+ people and lorries trying to use basic streets doesn't exactly cut it (go figure huh?) as this data graph shows. Yes we have problems. So, before the traffic ground entirely to a halt we replaced the route between Hayley and Garton Bay (the town in the other tile) with a nice shiny new road which as you can see definitely helped. Also while we were at it (and also because not everyone likes data maps) here's a look at the general traffic lighted crossing improvements that took place all over Garton in an attempt to stop everyone trying to use the intersection at one, in another new town called Killinton. Right so them problems mostly solved for now. Sorry the entry was a little bit on the boring side but I wanted to show you how were tryign to cope with issues as they arise in the game. Hopefully next time we'll actually finish Central Garton up. Till then James

4 pointsHi today I show you San Foca the capital of the Federal State "United States Of Italy". This beautiful city is experiencing a period of economic prosperity, and politics. Indeed from the pictures there are many lots available for construction, however, the large buildings have created a beautiful City Skylines The Federal Council has approved laws that have allowed the impetuous development of the high-tech industry and offices so that you created a great huge skyscrapers and Office District Unfortunately, federal and Municipal Council doesn't know where to put a nuclear fusion reactor that is located in the city centre, in exchange for a certain style in the metropolis The industrial sector is one of the main areas of the city especially in the high-tech sector though remains the traditional industry But the most important part of this city is the Federal District with the House of the President, the Federal Parliament, the Federal Police (FIB) and the famous Intelligence Agency (IAA) is also a vip nightclub where there are the most important characters of this State will own all. 4 pointsGreetings from Scotland! Here is another work in progress. It is in my Lisanroe region, but this particular city is HEAVILY inspired by Helsinki, the Capital of Finland. Most of my cities start life as a train station and in this corner of my region, I wanted a coastal city, so I plonked Helsinki train station and things escalated quickly until I had recreated a portion of Helsinki's city centre. That's all there is to it, thanks to Krio and many others for the excellent content. I used streetview and google earth to help pick the most suitable buildings and I've tried to avoid repetition so far. A full replication of Helsinki is not feasible because the streets run in many weird angles and there are not always suitable buildings for everything you want to create, so any further progress will be a condensed and re-imagined version of the city. Full size images are available by clicking on them, enjoy! The central station area. I have tweaked a few lots in the editor to enhance the realism and fill in some of the gaps: ___________________________________________________ _________________________________ Some of the central shopping streets, with pedestrianised zones and tramways: ________________________________ This is the first major deviation from real life Helsinki. In reality, the city continues south of the park, but I have decided to have the shoreline here instead (because this is at the edge of my region, and I can't be bothered creating the entire city! ________________________________________ The shoreline park at another angle: __________________________________ And finally, an overview of the work completed so far: _______________________________ Thanks for the encouraging comments from the last journal. As I've said, this in not a full recreation and I've taken many creative liberties to make it fit with the game's parameters and my region as a whole, so if I have upset any Finnish people by flooding your neighborhood or getting the colour of your house wrong, well too bad

4 pointsI have a big announcement to make. This is not only Saturnia’s 25th entry, but time to show something that I’ve only hinted at, but never actually stated. It’s time for it. There are a few entries of Saturnia, notably History of Saturnia, Saturnia Stars Baseball, and the second Life of a Saturnian, which references other cities. The thing is, I’ve been working on a veritable amount of cities. Each of the cities I’ve referenced is in process. Those pictures in the second Life of a Saturnian are of actual constructions. I’ve devised ideas for these cities, and feedback would be nice. This is little more than shameless self-promotion, but also an opportunity for you to give some feedback. One tertiary question remains: how likely is publication of these? Some are definite. Some are unlikely. Some would be nice. More on that as we roll along. Without further ado, here are the cities. Each city is loosely based on an American city, although you’ll notice plenty of influence from European cities. *NOTE THAT NONE OF THESE ARE CLOSE TO BEING COMPLETED* First off is Merticus, the largest of the cities. This one is based on New York City, towering skyscrapers and expansive residential districts. Next up is Churchill, a city that is long past its prime. A low-wealth city It name emphasizes the fact that these cities aren’t supposed to be set in this world. Here’s Cambria, a seaside megalopolis with skyscrapers a-plenty. This would be a major financial hub, but with the same expanisve residential districts of Merticus Last but not least is Civitum, the national Capital. Think of it as Washington with mostly Parisian architecture. This city is well organized and exquisite. There are also two other cities I have planned that are not pictured. First off is an unnamed city similar to Las Vegas, a gambling resort, except on an island. The second is Providence, which I envision as my perfect city. So... any thoughts on these? Which ones would you like to see?

3 pointsHello, my name is Yumi-chan, and I am from Japan! This is the first update on Simtropolis. I have just come over from SC4Devotion (link to SC4Devotion). I do not natively speak English, I speak Japanese, so I make make some grammar mistakes, and I am sorry if I do. This update is an overview of Asaminami-ku. In this City Journal, I will be sharing some of my daily life experiences in Hiroshima, Japan, and some other places that I have been to as well. 126,538 people in this update. Hiroshima Statistics: Total Population: 126,538 ppl. Urbaniztion Promotion Zone Density (Gray): 13,319 ppl. per square kilometer. Total City Density (Whole City): 7,908 ppl. per square kilometer. Total City Area: 16 kilometers. City Area: 9.5 kilometers. The area I will show you in this update is the Asaminami Ward. It is near (North to be exact) Higashi Ward, the ward in which I live. I usually go here to have fun and relax with my friends. Especially at the resteraunts and karaoke place. (Real life pictures are ahead!) This right here is the cafe I go to after a day at school. It is called Hanabi「花火」。It is a great cafe! I Love the food! Now the exterior: A small Commercial Center. The bowling alley is there. A large park for the kids has been constructed. A few hi rises. A commercial strip The Aoyama Store (The Building with the two big blue signs) "The World's No.1!" Now the real life image: I really hope you like the update! I had to go around and take a lot of pictures for this! I hope you enjoyed this, and feel free to ask about where I got the mods from! I would also appreciate negative criticism. If there is something you don't like, or something you think that I am doing wrong, please tell.

3 points Welcome back To Tedsville. This round a look at 3 popular sites. First is Tedsville's beautiful downtown. Located off Kings 50 and Kings85 at the Hapstead Cross, this is like a beacon on the horizon. Seen along the highway its easy to find your way as long as you can see downtown. With lots of places to explore in the city downtown seems to be a popular choice. Though not as spectacular as its eastern neighbor of Teddy City, its still a beautiful example of national pride for the future. The Tedsville Mustangs play here at this stadium. Popular and immense it even feature apartments for those who don't mind the noise at game time. Cotby Park. This hiking trail alongside the Hapstead Cross overlooks downtown and is a beautiful edition to the city. Located in the suburban neighborhood of Cotsby Village, the park is always busy with people, especially at the early morning hours when joggers and walkers get there daily exercise. Hope to see you again.

3 pointsHi everybody, this is my first City journal, I'm happy to show you my region, which is being built on the Falklands map that I downloaded on the STEX, thanks to iota4u ! As my imagination is very bad to invent names for islands or cities, let's say (for the needs of my story) that the Falklands Islands have never been located next to the extreme south of South America, but at more or less half-way between North America and UK ! (Thanks to them for accepting to move, by the way.) So let's start with the map, here it is: These islands, because of their location, are a usefull step in the trip between the two continents. This situation gave them quickly an important role, not only has a place where to stop by, but also to stay ! They were already discovered for some decades, but in 1805, the Crown of England decided to exploit the situation of the Falklands. They sent a Norwegian exploreur, Lars Krongans, to make a detailed map and report on the islands. He founded then the first city with his troups, that took his name: Krongans. More, people discovered that the mountains and the islands in general are full of natural ressources, as minerals, wildlife, fishes... The islands became then a supplier in many ressources for the England. The islands were governed by a governor, with total liberty, as long as the needed ressources were brought to England in time.Quickly, the different governors in charge decided to establish many advantages for people who want to stay on the islands, very low taxes, liberty of business, exploitation etc. Even though, during few decades the islands were few populated, because of the general high cost of life. My post takes place in 1842, the main city, Krongans, has a population of 26,000 inhabitants. As you can see, a lot of houses have a mixed style, with a bit of Scandinavian influences. This comes from the fact that Krongans, was very famous in the Scandinavian countries, mostly in Norway, due to his many expeditions for the Crown of England. After the discovery and founding of Krongans "city", he went back to Olso for retirement, and strongly recommended the Falklands. Thus, few thousands of Scandinavians (and mostly Norwegians) settled in Krongans. The church has a total different style. It's architect, Bogdan Kolozan, a Romanian architect living in London, was asked by the Crown, to be part of the first generations in charge of the development of the Falklands. In exchange, he had a total liberty in the design. That's it for today, in the next posts, I'll developp the rest of the Islands ! As I said it's my first post, and I don't really have a lot of files to make more realistic the 19th century aspect, but I'm more interested by the part that will come in the 20th century !! Anyway, feel free to comment, to advice me etc. Thanks to everybody, and see you soon I hope !

3 pointsGarton A look into city building without any fluff Introduction: Right lets get the important bits out of the way first. This is a vanilla CJ. (no, not even NAM). I just want to see what sort of city you can get when you don;t use any mods or CC at all, while still making (or at least attempting too) it look nice. Other rules include these: -Each city started on hard -No cheating (exception below) -Can use God Mode cheat to replant trees because, despite trying to leave gaps in my farmland it still deletes all the bloody trees when they develop and like hell I'm waiting for the damn trees to grow in mayor mode. -Must attempt to grow the region naturally without being like: Yay here's a flipping huge city with absolutely nothing around it for several hundred miles for no actual reason (unless of course I decide its going to be Las Vegas which I won't) Anyway rules out of the way lets get started. Oh and please don't expect a massively thorough storyline to it. Sure I want to make the writing enjoyable and actually give the city some life but I don;t want to be restricted by the storyline either. So, for the 2 people who are still vaguely more interested in this than what's under their fingernails. Welcome to Garton! Entry 1: We found a city! (not to be confused with the found in lost and found, as that would be cheating) Or we'll at least a small bayside town by the end of this entry (a city would be pushing it a bit) Right now, for reasons that no one seems to quite know about this piece of land appeared several years ago somewhere off the coast of America (I thinking maybe up north on the West side not that it really matters.). Now humans being humans it wasn't long before they'd explored the new area and decided, for no real reason that makes any sense to settle the area and claim it for their own. This is the area in question: Now, despite many of you probably thinking that the big bay in the middle of the map would make a nice place to settle along, what with the easy transport connections to the edge of the map and all you'd all be wrong. Of course the best place to settle is on the big island in the north-west with connections to the rest of the country via a small ferry so that is what they did, under the leadership of a bloke called Mr Garton (who ironically enough, quickly decided that most of the township were idiots and promptly left to find a better life elsewhere, leaving a Mayor Poppins in charge (OOC: Basically I screwed up with naming the Mayor)). Anyway I'm getting ahead of myself so here's a aerial image of the area the first town has been built in.. As you can see, the choice wasn't completely idiotic with a nice sheltered bay to ship in and out of as well as realtively flat ground to build on and as such a small town quickly took root, mainly focussed around agriculture with a bit of processing here and there. This is what the town looked like as the population hit 1000, shortly after Mayor Poppin ran out of excuses as to where the excess money from taxes was going and decided to appease them with a clinic and a fire station. Fast forward a couple more years and as people slowly filled the area surrounding the bay a need to improve the infrastructure was decided upon. Now, with the town making a fair bit of extra cash Mayor Poppin in his infinite wisdom decided to splash out a bit of the town funds on a nice new, not in any way at all shiny building to help it grow. Let's see if you can see it from this overview of how the town currently looks. Did you see it? The not so shiny coal power plant. Yup Mayor Poppins a genius. Power too last the town a fair while given that suddenly, thanks to the black fumes belching from the power plant and an increasing industrial harbour, people aren't finding it the most inviting place anymore. Anyway in case you couldn't see it in the above image, here's a closer look at the town. Despite the above problems though south of the bay isn't too bad a place to live with some nice beach-front property (just don't swim in the black water ok). Anyway, if you don't want to live next to the power plant you can always move into on the many small farming communities popping up all over the place. Provided that is you can understand a single word anyone that live in them say. Anyway hope you liked the small introduction to our little town, join us next time when we jump ship and abando... I mean spread out and further explore our surroundings in an attempt to continue (hopefully) growing our community here in Garton. Cheers James

2 points60. Coastal Waterfalls Welcome back, folks. This time we head to the coastal road (highway 1) running north of town. 1. Houses and farms on the north side of town 2. More houses and a farm to the north. Traveling further we find the forest coming all the way down to the shore. 3. Highway 1 crosses several small creeks falling off the surrounding hills. 4. The first creek 5. The second has a little fancier bridge 6. The third one adjoins a marshy estuary. 7. The marsh 8. After the estuary is a line of shore cliffs with homes on the top. 9. Time on the beach. 10. The marsh and area in fall. 11. And the tile in full. I'm not sure what i'll have next since i have a lot of half complete stuff, so it will probably be at least 2 weeks before the next update. ~cheers. @SylvioGeorge, mymyjp, sexysark, JP Schriefer, Militant Radical, NeilsC007, dabadon5: Thanks a lot for your comments! @LnX: lol no you don't. I really did a terrible job on that one: i got frustrated with it and didn't finish it. If you really want to see it there is a pic on this CJ at simpeg, top of page 41. @slickbg: thanks! i just copy what i see on the coasts here. I think a lot of it has to do with the piles of driftwood tossed up at the stormline just above high tide mark. I don't see that in a lot of sc4 beaches. @jmsepe: The terrain is Gobias' sunken valley, along with his Vancouver Island beach mod and Inside Passage water mod, with my own custom tweaking of the water alpha using reader. All are available on the LEX. @Kisa Atsuko: I have 8Gigs of ram, a 64bit OS, and the memory patch applied to sc4, and this is near to the maximum my PC can handle. With those specs it can fully run a 96x120km region (this is 88x120). The max i've gotten it to actually open is 112x120, but at that size it barely runs. I doubt 6 gigs of ram or less would actually run this region. @sucram17: lol i love that .gif @indecisive_compulsive: all my cities are functional (they have to be to get residentials to grow). I don't use any 'cheats' per se, but i use a heavy variety of mods that effect gameplay in ways that some people would probably consider 'cheating'. Some of these are somewhat neccessary since maxis never finished out and balanced some aspects of the gameplay, such as farm behavior and traffic. That said, 'cheating' if i had to wouldn't bother me at all, because after you've played this game long enough you've already beaten ever aspect of the simulator. At that point the simulation becomes largely irrelevant, because you've been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Then the game just becomes a tool for creating art, and how you modify that tool once you've mastered it doesn't detract from what you create. @whiteyboybob: Thank you! Yeah, i know about the farms. The thing is these tiles are very quick filler tiles to start off demand in my region, meaning i only spend a few hours on each just to get it done quickly. If it were a more detailed tile, like inner cities and ports where i spend 20+ hours on it i would take care of all those little realism details. Since these last few updates have been from filler tiles im content to just take whatever grows.

2 pointsThe Interior of Shakovisk In the interior of Shakovisk, it is not difficult to find large farms and farming communities, encouraged by the Central People's Government and the creation of the Post-War Economic Policy (PWEP) of Shakovisk, created just after the Soviet evacuation and end of the Second World War. The Shakovisk fields serve the population and maintains a solid base from the last part of PEPG, but there are still labor abuses at times gets to be slave labor, which deeply hurts the socialist society preaches. Today we will know the cities of Marks, Deven and Sudestek, all in the South of Shakovisk, where agriculture and large plantations are more abundant, but also where the climate is suitable for food production. In cities can also be noted large Soviet monuments in honor of the Soviet Union for helping in the reconstruction and structuring Shakovisk, which would enter the Warsaw Pact.

2 pointsHi everybody, today I’m gonna introduce the city of Philipstown. First of all, REPLIES: Ultimate727, raynev1, pinkindustry and Mymyjp, thanks to all of you for your comments and reputation points ! Special thanks to Schulmanator for his rapidity and assistance ! You're making a very good job, keep going !! Now a few explanations about the situation in 1855 about the Islands. The Island where is located Krongans, the “South” Island, belongs to England, but the “North” Island, belongs to the USA. Here it is: At the beginning of the exploitation of the Falklands during the first decade of the 19th century, only the South Island was really belonging to the Crown of England. The North Island wasn't really interesting the Crown, until the American established a city, Philipstown -from Georges Philips who founded the city-, and discovered a lot of mining resources. Then, it became a race, of who will grow the fastest on the Islands, and will gain the more influential position. Quickly, in about 10/15 years, Philipstown reached about 17,300 inhabitants (current population during this post in 1855), and had few National mining sites (they were nationalised to ensure their productivity). Krongans was only the industrial city, the stop-by place on the way to America for all migrants from Europe, but not a new place to live. A temporary (as they wanted so, at least) place for the migrants to earn the few money they needed to finish the trip to the opportunity land. But, after 15 years of incredible growth, the Philipstown utopy starts to slow down. It appears that in fact, there isn't so many resources in the mountains, and the mining exploitations have to move away in new unexploited moutains. Due to a complicated relief in the Islands, the American government will progressively give up on the North Island and the Falklands, leaving Philipstown helpless, without any assistance. But the continuation of the Falklands' history will come in the next post. For now, let's have a look at the once "opponent" of Krongans: On this image you can see the minings: That's it for today, it's not very impressive for the moment, but I'll try as much as I can to make it more exciting in each new post. Thank you all ! PS: I guess a lot of you know this website, but in the case not I put the link here: http://www.earthcam.com/usa/newyork/timessquare/?cam=tsrobo1 This link goes to a webcam in Times Square, and today it's snowing a bit in New York City !! There are 4 different webcams available at Times Square and a lot of different webcams located in the world in the website. I just precise that I don't work for this website, and don't have any economic link, I just want to share the possibility to watch in live some of the most exciting places in the world !

2 pointsTedsville Welcome to Tedsville. Located west of Teddy City, this beautifully designed city is a beacon on the horizen. We begin at the Hapstead Cross: Designed in 1981 by the Warrin- Yates Corporation, this is one of the most well known, and best designed interchanges in the city. On the edge of downtown, the Hapstead Cross is identified as one of the nations Royal Transit Model award winners, and you can see why. easy on, easy off, and pleasent to look at. A dominating residential area of Kings 50, Riverbrooke is peaceful, and beautiful with an elegant off center grid format. Rather then continuing as a strait road, it curves gracefully on to the main road. Its curving main roads give the area a look of grace, and a distictly european style the nation is known for. The newest commercial center. Once a run down, trash ridden field, the city decided to add a shopping center to beautify the area. Located in Riverbrooke, its an example of modern architecture and is easily seen of the highway.

1 pointReplies: Thank you NMUSpidey - that is plop-able It's tricky to lay down, but the flowing water textures are top notch. I did a quick tutorial over at SimPeg, so I'll share it here too for those interested. Thanks for the comment, Kevin! Thanks vivapanda, I figured since I was starting a settlement from the beginning, nature should have a large part. Thanks, the river definitely took the most time to get right. [browsing Paulobergonci's CJ] Ha! Cool, another historical inspired CJ. Although I don't think I can compete with some of your MMP work - those farms are stunning. I'll be by to steal some Ideas Thank you Jetty Jockey, hope you like my future updates as well. Yep, MMP work is always time consuming, but it's almost like painting, which can be relaxing at times. It can also be frustrating too [sounds of bulldozing in the background]. RFR Tips (a small tutorial) I’ll try and explain a few tips I learned while bulldozing hundreds of RFR water tiles. I am by no means an expert, so take this with a grain of salt. First, I used the full tile, called “normale bachtiles” for most of my stream (as well as the 45 degree alternative when necessary). When you plop this, you get 7 different water textures. I also use the matching ¼ tile called “kleine bachtiles” which is basically the same textures as the full tile (except for the 5th and 6th plop, which I think were switched). I noticed that the first three plops, and plop 4-6 match up pretty well – so I sort of played off of this when plopping my streams. The 7th plop is difficult to blend with the others, so I suppose it could be used as a stream all on it's own. Here is an example – the first stream is using the 1-3 plops, the second stream uses the 4-6 plops, and the third stream transitions from one group to the other. So here is a stream that transitions from calm waters to more turbulence. Next you can fill in some parts with the smaller ¼ size tiles, remembering to match the tile textures (you basically get three chances for either a calm stream, or turbulent stream) Uh oh, sometimes when matching textures you get this No problem though, we can just cover it up with a few well placed rocks Fill in the surrounding shore with a mixture of sand, rocks and pebbles and you have yourself a stream. I think epicblunder’s tutorial best explains how to fill out the creek bed, so I’m not going to go into any detail there. Hope this was somewhat helpful. If this wasn’t clear, or if you have a question please feel free to ask – I’ll be happy to help as much as I can.

1 pointWell... a long time has passed since my first addon was released for the 125-years celebration... So over the past few weeks I've been busy to refresh some of the old items and produce a load of new ones for a second addon... While discussing, lotting, modding and testing these items, a number of screenshots evolved - making up this small update :-) If you are considering to start your own logging industry, you're invited to browse my "Cheat Sheet: Logging in Rural Areas" which gives you a complete overview of all logging-related items you'll need for a good start... See you there :-)

1 pointView Album Largo City Here is another Mountainview heavyweight... since there is lots to see, this update comes in two consecutive posts. In Part 1 we will visit some farms, suburbs and the industrial sector. In Part 2 we'll continue to the commercial and residential districts... We reach Largo from the north, passing through an agricultural area with focus on dairy farms and products... Passing through suburbs with a large cemetary, an arboretum and a 18-hole golf course... All too soon we reach the southern industrial sector... Swinging back north we'll cross this bridge when the tour continues :-) Continue with Part 2...

Leaving now the North to defend the Kingdom Liebe. View of South zone under enemy control. The city of Krug who was bombarding Royal Army was saved by destroying all enemy forces. A border south of the capital was built. Border that heavily protected with a military base in constant lookout. The trade routes were suspended with the southern cities. Important areas such as airport and port industrial zone received watchtowers. View of Airport zone in Stadt. View of Port zone in Stadt. View of commercial zone in Stadt. Wall built at the entrance of the environmental reserve and military base captured in Fowler. The majority of the southern population managed to flee northward. 1 pointReplies: Redfield - Suburban Rails A lot of commuters use Redfield Train System (RTS) as their transportation. A big city, Redfield tries to avoid jams on its highways by providing quality rail transportation for its inhabitants. This update will show some of RTS stations and their surroundings. Tallinn Park Station, located next to a park with the same name. There is a area of restaurants around it, tennis court and The Estonian Heritage museum. Around 20,000 immigrants from Estonia in the 19th century, leaving the city with a sizable community. The station is the first of the Red branch after the terminal. Barlow Station. Located close to a historical center which houses some stores and pubs, Barlow Station was the first station to be built in the Green Branch. Taken down by a fire in 1993, it was replaced by a more simpler, modern building. A quieter station, Beaumont Street station is the second station of the Red Branch. It is surrounded mainly by middle class houses, and many dwellers use it to go to work downtown. Now, to finish the update, a big mosaic: Well, I hope you've liked Redfield. There will be a few more entries of this city, and it is not finished yet. So, any advice is welcome!

1 pointGreat Catastrophes and Education Today show a great event, but it is not good, the explosion of the Nuclear Power Plant Marxistk in the east of the country. We will start with the nuclear explosion that occurred in Marxistk, former area of Soviet occupation, which helped Shakovisk to build a nuclear power plant to meet the needs of the far east of the country. On the night of September 27, 1993, happens a leak in the reactor that triggered the death of thousands of people. Follow the pictures before and after the event. In the other side of the country, in the capital, Dostoevsky, the government invests in education for young shakovicos. Being education a priority when the economy and the planning was planned for the country to grow with young wise and defending the right of egalitarian socialism.

1 pointViews of the Santiago de Lima barrio The Santiago de Lima barrio is a new neighborhood located west of Downtown Los Dopicos. The economic boom sustained by the extraction of oil and the mining industry as well as the development of the service industry led many San Theodoran families to get out of poverty. Middle income families started to settle in this neighborhood in the late 1980s.
