Hi everybody, this is my first City journal, I'm happy to show you my region, which is being built on the Falklands map that I downloaded on the STEX, thanks to iota4u !

As my imagination is very bad to invent names for islands or cities, let's say (for the needs of my story) that the Falklands Islands have never been located next to the extreme south of South America, but at more or less half-way between North America and UK ! (Thanks to them for accepting to move, by the way.) So let's start with the map, here it is:

Falklands_zpscd17cec2.jpg

These islands, because of their location, are a usefull step in the trip between the two continents. This situation gave them quickly an important role, not only has a place where to stop by, but also to stay !

They were already discovered for some decades, but in 1805, the Crown of England decided to exploit the situation of the Falklands.

They sent a Norwegian exploreur, Lars Krongans, to make a detailed map and report on the islands. He founded then the first city with his troups, that took his name: Krongans. More, people discovered that the mountains and the islands in general are full of natural ressources, as minerals, wildlife, fishes... The islands became then a supplier in many ressources for the England.

The islands were governed by a governor, with total liberty, as long as the needed ressources were brought to England in time.Quickly, the different governors in charge decided to establish many advantages for people who want to stay on the islands, very low taxes, liberty of business, exploitation etc. Even though, during few decades the islands were few populated, because of the general high cost of life.

My post takes place in 1842, the main city, Krongans, has a population of 26,000 inhabitants.

As you can see, a lot of houses have a mixed style, with a bit of Scandinavian influences. This comes from the fact that Krongans, was very famous in the Scandinavian countries, mostly in Norway, due to his many expeditions for the Crown of England. After the discovery and founding of Krongans "city", he went back to Olso for retirement, and strongly recommended the Falklands. Thus, few thousands of Scandinavians (and mostly Norwegians) settled in Krongans.

The church has a total different style. It's architect, Bogdan Kolozan, a Romanian architect living in London, was asked by the Crown, to be part of the first generations in charge of the development of the Falklands. In exchange, he had a total liberty in the design.

That's it for today, in the next posts, I'll developp the rest of the Islands !

As I said it's my first post, and I don't really have a lot of files to make more realistic the 19th century aspect, but I'm more interested by the part that will come in the 20th century !!

Anyway, feel free to comment, to advice me etc. Thanks to everybody, and see you soon I hope !

I love that Italian whineyard picture!

Maybe you shouldn't put those old houses that close to the industrial areas, but it's a nice start.
