About this City Journal

One of the greatest thing about life is migration and the ability to response in changes. This story is about the future of life in space. If you like futuristic cities and space...

14 months have been passed after the last update of this city journal. I'll be honest, I'm not going to update it anymore. There are a lot of reasons why I'm going to stop Eden: The New Frontier. First of all, real life issues. I'm studying English for the Proficiency diploma, looking for a job and writing a book. If I'm lucky, writing will be my job. I'm also busy with the Barsoom Project. I have already reloted a great majority of the Maxis lots, but still there's work do be done. But the most important reason is the city journal itself.

Since my last update, I have improved my English (grammar mistakes still takes place, but not in the previous tragic level) and I want to build something new, something fresh, something epic and exotic. Don't worry thought. All the sci-fi themes of Eden: The New Frontier will be back, like human evolution, space colonization, resource-based economy, Ancient Martians, cyborgs, anarchic societies, extraterrestrial artifacts, alien lifeforms, arcologies and terraforming of Mars. But there will be more this time. That's right, we're talking about a remake of Eden: The New Frontier, which will be released somewhere in 2014.

The Gardens of Eden

Thank you very much for following Eden all this time. See you in the new Eden :)

a small Martian colony

Remember that it's not a truly tutorial, so don't blame me if something goes wrong :D

As about the trial paths, there are plenty of them here in Simtropolis, as well as in SC4D and SimPeg. Find your favourite style and grab it ;)

Let's see what happened to the colony. Hmm, not bad.

BarsoomTown-18Apr121349788864.jpg

Here are some advises from me. Take them or leave them :D

To build my colonies, I always fire up the Lot Editor and make my lots. SimMars doesn't have trail paths, so use the Lot Editor to make your own. With some imagination and the right tools, you can customise your colonies as you wish.

BarsoomTown-23Apr121349788938.jpg

BarsoomTown-29May121349789109.jpg

BarsoomTown-16May121349789057.jpg

BarsoomTown-2Jun121349789131.jpg

The factories in the future will be fewer but larger and more sophisticated. Use the Control button to zone specific sizes like 3x3. Don't just lay the industrial zones or you'll get a messy result... unless if you want it of course. Your colony, your rules.

BarsoomTown-12May121349789036.jpg

If pollution is rising, use the SimMars water and air purificators to clean the mess.

BarsoomTown-7Jun121349789160.jpg

It's a good idea to build some factories close to your utilities and connect them with the rest of the colony by some mass transit.

BarsoomTown-8May121349789006.jpg

Thanks to hydroponics and genetic engineering, those underground indoor farms can feed more than 1 colonies. So avoid zoning miles and miles of farms just for a small colony, because it's very wasteful. Don't build a huge headquarters of farms for your region. Make a network of smaller farms close to your colonies, providing food faster and easier.

BarsoomTown-4May121349788987.jpg

BarsoomTown-1May121349788973.jpg

Try to give to your colonies a generic theme, with homes, jobs and landmarks. You colonists should have access to anything they want, so your colonies should me as autonomous as possible. However don't be shy to make some themed colonies, like tourist colonies close to beautiful natural landmarks and industrial colonies close to useful resources and with a lot of recycling centres. Connect all your colonies by any way you want. Subways is a great way, but you can also use magnetic railroads and speedways as well.

BarsoomTown-6Aug121349789444.jpg

Oh, something last. SimMars can support some extra mods as well, but not all of them. Don't use C.A.M., it will mess your colonies. N.A.M. is not fully compatible. S.P.A.M. will mess your farms. Always test the extra mods before use them in a sandbox region.

Hmm, nothing else to add :uhm::D

Thanks for the comments folks :golly:

Now that we have a nice place to play, it's time to build a colony.

NewColony-28May001347961730.jpg

Remember that playing Simcity on Mars isn't the same with the Terran version. There are no historical cities with landmarks like castles and ruins, except if they made by aliens. Also Mars is a dangerous planet, so living there is really challenging. Plan your colony in order to be as efficient as possible. Forget realism and rules. In order to survive, you need to think out of the box.

The design style of both buildings and cities defined for Mars is called Utilitarian design. As the name already implies, it's main characteristic is functionality and efficiency, not realistic beauty. This style is defined by its simple and minimalistic building approach. The colonists will not care about huge luxurious buildings that waste plenty of resources, especially if they don't protect them from the low temperatures, the low atmospheric pressure, the U.V. rays because of the lack of ozone layer, the solar winds because of the weak magnetic field. So without those "ugly" and "unrealistic" buildings and cities, the colonists will be dead! Besides, the Utilitarian design brings also plenty of advantages, like faster construction, upgrading and recycling. The circular cities of the Venus Project is a great example.

299335_10151250554120030_42546537_n.jpg

Having those in the mind, let's build a small colony. I like giving each colony a geometrical or symbolic shape, to give a variety in the colonies. There is no N.A.M. in SimMars, so the layout of the colony will be a bit limited. No diagonal streets and underpasses. But hey, this isn't the end of the world.

BarsoomTown-28May001349699122.jpg

Let's connect the colony with the rest of civilized Mars. The red planet is so dangerous, that living in the outside for too long is not recommend. This is why we need really fast connections. Subways are the best solution, because they're very fast and fully protected from the Martian conditions. For this page however, we'll build a magnetic railroad with roads next to it.

BarsoomTown-28May001349702217.jpg

Don't forget to build enough stations.

BarsoomTown-28May001349703522.jpg

Medical needs are very high here on Mars, so always build clinics to your colonies, even in the smallest colonies.

BarsoomTown-28May001349703715.jpg

The atmosphere on Mars doesn't have oxygen, so fires stations are useless. But wait, there is something more dangerous than fire. Because of the low atmospheric pressure, even a small crack can destroy the whole building and kill all the colonists inside of it! So always build decompression stations to keep the buildings safe and one piece.

BarsoomTown-28May001349703686.jpg

And don't forget to give food to your colonists by zoning indoor farms.

BarsoomTown-28May001349704124.jpg

Everything needs energy, so build enough power plants. Winds here on Mars are too weak, so windmills are useless. Solar energy is a good idea, but have in mind the distance between Mars and the Sun. So don't expect Earth style efficient. If you want to build bigger colonies, throw from the window your environmental worries and build nuclear reactors! Oh, and don't forget to give your colonists water and the technology to recycle their "garbage".

BarsoomTown-3Nov001349718465.jpg

Let's build a simple layout. Remember, no diagonal streets because of lack of Martian N.A.M., so don't complain.

BarsoomTown-28May001349704063.jpg

Oops, I didn't take photos during the construction. But who cares? As you can see, I zoned for factories in the outside of the colony, so the freight trucks can carry their products in other colonies faster and easier. Of course it's a good idea to build industries inside the colony as well. Those factories will take the natural resources of Mars and turn them into useful products, like 3D printers and quantum computers. Those products will store in shops, making them available for everyone. So make some commercial zones close to the factories as well. Don't fill the rest of the layout with residential zones however, because you'll need some space for parks, civil buildings like schools, rewards and landmarks like museums. Don't be shy and give to your colonists the best you can. They live in a dangerous planet, so they deserve it.

BarsoomTown-3Nov001349718497.jpg

BarsoomTown-3Nov001349718513.jpg

The colony is ready. I wonder how it will evolve...

Time to make something different and take a small brake from the story. Time to build a Martian colony from scratch. First, let's make a small terraforming. For this "tutorial" we'll use a large map to have enough room to play. So here we are...

NewColony-4Jan001347190474.jpg

Nice, isn't? Of course Mars is not a flat planet, so let's make the place more interesting. The Martian surface has dried lakes and rivers, as well as hills, cliffs and craters. Let's use the Erosion tool to make those basic details. Play with it as much as you wish, until you get the result you want.

NewColony-16Feb001347190592.jpg

We have the basics, like small craters and cliffs. We want however more, so let's raise some hills and use the Erosion tool again to change them a bit. Mars doesn't have running liquid water in the surface and the wind are weaker than on Earth, so don't overdo it with erosion or you'll lose the hills.

sred2_s32.jpg

NewColony-9Mar001347190694.jpg

NewColony-22Mar001347190739.jpg

Let's make some dead rivers. Mars had plenty of water and there are many dried rivers to prove that. Let's use the Canyon tool to make a river and then the Erosion tool. Just like before, don't overdo it or you'll lose the river.

mars_viking_mergedS.jpg

NewColony-12Apr001347191784.jpg

And finally, let's make some craters. UNLEASH THE METEORS!!

mars_viking_colorS.jpg

NewColony-2May001347191879.jpg

NewColony-26May001347191926.jpg

Click the Erode button only once or twice to affect the whole map and that's it! Sit back and enjoy, with only a few clicks you made a basic but still exotic enough Martian landscape.

NewColony-28May001347192233.jpg

Remember that Mars have many interesting kind of surface formations, so feel free to take it to extreme. How about steep canyons, seas of dry ice and magnificent craters.

NewColony-4Jan001347192493.jpg

NewColony-4Jan001347192535.jpg

NewColony-6Jan001347192446.jpg

No matter what however, it's highly recommend to check some pictures to get the inspiration. Always have in mind that Mars is very different from Earth, so learn the Martian rules and play with them.

mars-appolinar-sm.jpg

In the next entry we'll build a small colony in this area. Don't forget your space suits :)

"It looks like the future's really bright"

Michael P. Anderson

Sometimes you need to explore the darkness to find the light. The greatest oasis will be found only in deserts. If not, they can be created. By who? By the people who see a problem and consider it as a cool challenge for something better.

Mars is the place to be. This planet is mostly a cold hell of low gravity, no oxygen and lack of ozone layer. At the first sight, Mars is a truly dangerous planet to live.

returntomars.jpg

The surface of Mars is naked from water and plants. A -63 degrees Celsius planetary desert, full of dust, stones and rocks. There are mostly dangerous cliffs and ancient craters, naked mountains and dry ice. It's atmosphere is 100 thinner that the Terran one, with 95.32% carbon dioxide and without ozone layer. Martian geysers and dust storms makes Mars an even more dangerous planet. For most people, Mars is a cold hell.

But this planet was a heaven in the distant past, at least for a while. A beautiful Earth-like planet with oceans and denser atmosphere rich with oxygen. The perfect elements for life. Today however only a few plants and animals evolved and survived. This includes the peaceful Martian bears, the flying Martian sirens and the dangerous Martian sandworms.

martianbear1.jpg

martiansiren1.jpg

martiansandworm2.jpg

Not only that. This planet was the cradle of an alien civilization known as "Ancient Martians". There are plenty of ancient structures on Mars made by them, from pyramids to exotic technological devices. What happen to them? Are they dead? Did they abandon Mars? If yes, where are now? Are they abandon the Solar System as well? Or they are still here, somewhere in the Solar System, watching and waiting?

NewColony-31Mar001345805634.jpg

Cydonia-25Jan011345812251.jpg

This was only a part of the history of Mars. What about the future? The future begun recently. In the beginning of the 21st century, an another civilization came and colonized the red planet. This civilization came from a blue neighbour planet called Earth. Those colonists came here on Mars as explorers, researchers, dreamers and designers of something new and beautiful.

marsspacecrafts.jpg

marsnight.jpg

Today Mars is alive... sort of. It's still a dangerous desert, this time covered of huge cities and small colonies, tall arcologies and underground metropolises. A new civilization is rising here, above the remnants of an ancient one. Any Sim who came here from the Earth or the Moon, or born here on Mars, called SimMartians. Thanks to SimMartians, a cold hell is turning into a new heaven.

The SimMartians are not here to rebuild the primitive societies of Earth, but to build a new one. A global society based on the knowledges, the wisdom and the methodology of science. A society that understands it's truly place to the vastness of the Cosmos and the responsibility for this. A society of wise citizens of the Cosmos.

We are not talking about an utopia however, but a highly realistic science-based world without pollution, without laws, without politics, without religion fanaticism, without money and slavery, without elitism for the few and starvation for the rest, without fake peace and fake democracy, without racism and ignorance.

Is this possible? YES IT IS!

The end?

It seems that I don't have anymore the spirit to run Eden and build new colonies. My original plans was to make a unique story about the space colonization, the rise of Homo Superior and the creation of a huge intergalactic civilization, made by both Sims and aliens. A story that begun somewhere in the 21st century on Mars and goes beyond the death of our Universe. However I don't feel that I really want to even play Simcity. Maybe this is only temporary and new colonies will rise soon. Maybe this is the finale of Eden. I don't know either. Only time will tell...

Page 44: Visitors?

5781342851_5375384602_z.jpg

The today's page is inspired by the 19th century Martian Madness. This is the time was erroneously believed that there were canals on Mars, made by an extraterrestrial civilization. These were a network of long straight lines that appeared in drawings of the planet Mars, first observed by the Italian astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli in 1877, and "confirmed" by later observers like the American Percival Lowell.

Karte_Mars_Schiaparelli_MKL1888.png

Schiaparelli called these lines canali (natural rivers), which whoever was translated into English as canals (artificial channels). By the early 20th century, improved astronomical observations had revealed the "canals" to be just an optical illusion. Modern high resolution mapping of the Martian surface by spacecraft shows no such features, only dried rivers and canyons.

Page 44: Visitors?

"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages."

William Shakespeare

In the dense Hellenic (Greek) forest, there is an old forgotten observatory with a dark secret. A small group of explorers found a small book that belongs to an unknown Greek astronomer called Aristarchus Matsopoulos. Matsopoulos observed Mars during the early 20th century.

NewCity-9Mar001338030245.jpg

In 1915 A.D. (54 B.T.), during the World War I, Aristarchus Matsopoulos notice a brightly shine in the Martian surface. The shine appeared close to the Martian equator and disappeared almost immediately. It was a volcano? A meteor impact? A signal from an intelligent specie?

NewCity-14Mar001338030257.jpg

Because of the catastrophic World War I, Aristarchus Matsopoulos hide his notes in the observatory and disappeared. Nobody knows what happened to him.

150 years later, in 2065 A.D. (94 A.T.), floating robots scans the Argyre Basin to found any evidence about it.

ArgyreBasin-1338132988.jpg

And they found it!

ArgyreBasin-1338133007.jpg

In the middle of a crater the robots discovered 9 white structures, 150 years old, just in the place where Aristarchus Matsopoulos saw the mysterious shine.

UnknowAlienArtifact-25Feb001338133084.jpg

This infrastructure looks like a small alien colony. But there is nobody here to live.

UnknowAlienArtifact-3Mar001338133107.jpg

But who made them? And why?

UnknowAlienArtifact-6Mar001338133119.jpg

Maybe those structures are communication devices.

UnknowAlienArtifact-10Mar001338133134.jpg

Communication with what?

UnknowAlienArtifact-14Mar001338133149.jpg

There are many theories about them. Obviously they didn't made by the native Ancient Martians, so most probably was made by extrasolar explorers. From where the Visitors came? What they want on Mars? Are they still somewhere here in the Solar System? Could we communicate with them? Did they also build some of the strange structures, like the Marshenge in Respect-8 and the pyramid in Life-6? If yes, why?

Respect-8-1Feb501331027088.jpg

Life-6-26May1581334583408.jpg

And what was this mysterious shine? An energy bust? A communication beacon? A signal? And what's the message?

UnknowAlienArtifact-24Mar001338133215.jpg

But what if the Visitors was actually the Ancient Martians? Are they still alive, somewhere in the Solar System?

Maybe the answer of the question "are we alone?" is not between the distant stars, but somewhere much closer to us!

Close to Life-6, the archaeologists discovered an another artificial made pyramid. The mystery of the past of Mar still remains. These large red pyramids called redmids, large arcologies that holds a whole city inside them. The redmids of Evolution-7 has a lot of homes and civic services. They also a lot of transhumanistic laboratories.

Evolution-7-7May951334053850.jpg

Trans... what?! Transhumanism is the transformation of the human body and mind with the use of technologies, like genetic engineering and cybernetics, to eliminate aging and enhance the human intellectual, physical and psychological capacities. That's right, were are talking about the evolution of Simkind, from Homo Sapiens to Homo Superior, with the wise use of technology. Forgetting, illness and death may soon be things of the past. The future belongs to telepathy, the 400 I.Q. minds and the "magic" abilities.

After 4 months of construction, some backups and several crashes, the Terran city is finally here :bunny: . Have in mind that this is a city of the future, so be prepared for a lot of "mistakes" . Before exploring the city, here are some useless facts. This city has many different layouts. One of them used in my very first city journal, Spicross. Not something nice as you can see  . An another one is the application of my experimental skyscraper district layout, which got tons of negative comments because "it's very expensive, it's spread out the buildings too much, it's boring, it isn't reality, you have to cheat to have this, it's a terrible stupid idea, you put the same buildings in your examples over and over again..." :hmph: .

I spend a huge amount of time for this city and I know that my M.D. is not popular at all, but I really want to read your comments and ideas :)

Jacque Fresco

Let's call this city Futura. Obvious name, isn't? :whatevs:

This city established in the shores of a river, surrounded by a dense forest. The city has everything, from huge skyscrapers to underground homes. Oh, please ignore the ugly neighbour cities, I build them just to support Futura.

London-1331820832.jpg

As you can see in those pictures, every area has it's own car and train layout. There is only a few traffic jam, mostly made by outside Sims. However almost everybody use the subway system. By having bus-subway combos literally in every corner and an advance tram system, who need the car?

animation004004.jpg

animation2006011.jpg

Time to explore the city and see it in many angles. This is a cemetery next to a church. By having hydrogen cars with electric motor, the highways of the future will be more quiet. No need of soundwalls, just plant some trees.

Futura-31Jul971331815200.jpg

Here is a classic hotel next a modern one, with green parks close to them.

Futura-30Oct971331815843.jpg

There are no residential and C.B.D.s districts here, so it's impossibly to distinguish the apartment buildings from the skyscrapers.

Futura-30Nov961331814069.jpg

All Sim love a good game with their favourite teams and awesome concerts from their favourite singers. The domed stadiums allow both games and concerts to take place even with rain or snow, while can create spectacular holographs. There is an e-mail post office next to it.

Futura-30Aug971331815304.jpg

With so much trees and mass traffic, why living in terrible cities?

Futura-29Nov971331816686.jpg

Futura has a lot of parks everywhere. Trees will soon become green oceans, while the buildings will be small islands in those oceans.

Futura-29Nov971331816635.jpg

06.jpg

You can swim in those ponds if you wish.

Futura-29Nov971331816562.jpg

Many futuristic buildings here.

Futura-29Nov971331816498.jpg

You may find somewhere here the mayor's house.

Futura-29Nov971331816451.jpg

There are many skyscrapers, plazas and landmarks in this city to visit.

Futura-29Nov971331816409.jpg

More futuristic buildings here.

Futura-29Nov971331816375.jpg

In the outside of the city we'll find factories, any kind of them. Some of them manufacture genetic engineered food, other creates cars with artificial intelligence and others upgrades retired products.

Futura-29Nov971331816336.jpg

The centre of the city from a bird view.

Futura-29Mar961331813654.jpg

This is the result of my "expensive, boring, unrealistic, terrible, stupid" experimental skyscraper district layout.

Futura-27Nov961331814054.jpg

What this silo has? Nuclear missiles? Small space rockets?

Futura-27Apr971331814888.jpg

In the centre of the city we'll find an alternative way of the Martian Quantum Cybernated Society, where computers replaced the outmoded system of electing politicians. Only when cybernation is integrated into all aspects of this new and dynamic culture, can computers appropriately serve the needs of all people. No technological civilization can ever operate efficiently and effectively, without the integration of cybernetics as an integral part of this new world civilization.

Futura-26Jan981331817171.jpg

This vertiport provide access to the city centre by Vertical Take Over and Land (V.T.O.L.) aircrafts.

Futura-26Jan981331817040.jpg

04.jpg

A small commercial block, next to a beautiful statue and a quiet lake.

Futura-26Jan981331816970.jpg

An another one landmark.

Futura-26Jan981331816935.jpg

Apartment buildings are not the only way of living.

Futura-26Jan981331816850.jpg

An another bird view of the city. You can see from here the beach, the amusement park and the vertical farms.

Futura-26Apr981331820582.jpg

And here we can see the highway again.

Futura-26Apr981331820564.jpg

The South-West area of the north shore, from the hills to the river.

Futura-26Apr981331820551.jpg

There are 3 way to cross the river, by boat, car or subway.

Futura-26Apr981331820537.jpg

This is the south shore, with many small density buildings.

Futura-26Apr981331820524.jpg

The south shore contain the university, the military base, a huge arcology and a large forest.

Futura-26Apr981331820509.jpg

The North-East area of the city has a huge industrial area and a recycle centre.

Futura-26Apr981331820490.jpg

Hey look, a space station.

Futura-26Apr981331820476.jpg

Close to the industrial area there is a large place with low density buildings.

Futura-26Apr981331820457.jpg

And an another bird view.

Futura-26Apr981331820447.jpg

Seriously huge apartment buildings.

Futura-26Apr981331820432.jpg

Why wasting large acres for ugly and low efficient farm, when you can have them inside large buildings?

Futura-26Apr981331819848.jpg

A closer view to the high-tech industries.

Futura-26Apr981331819785.jpg

The recycle centre of the city. Large WALL-E robots gathers the garbage and drop them in this pit. From there, the garbage goes by pipes to the recycle centres and turn them into new elements and products.

Futura-26Apr981331819732.jpg

A communication post, so the Sims here can speak to their friends on the Moon or end messages on their friends on Mars.

Futura-26Apr981331819699.jpg

An another domed stadium, in different shape this time.

Futura-25May971331815003.jpg

Without science, we'll still live in caves and fear everything.

Futura-25Jul971331815177.jpg

In case of catastrophe, this facility will warn the Sims.

Futura-25Jan971331814389.jpg

In the outside of the city there is an airspaceport. Many of the terminals themselves, as well as air terminals, maintenance facilities, service centres, and hotels, were constructed underground.

Futura-25Apr981331819524.jpg

And an another one bird view. Have a look at the huge antenna.

Futura-23Nov961331814037.jpg

This is the Maxis military base reloted by me. I'll need to add more details before releasing.

Futura-22Apr971331814866.jpg

Tram and subway trains has their own maintain house, which serve as a museum as well.

Futura-18Aug971331815254.jpg

The university of Futura.

Futura-15Jun971331815081.jpg

Wanna play golf?

Futura-14May971331814962.jpg

This city has large, beautiful beaches for swimming and relaxing.

Futura-12Oct971331815717.jpg

The south shore has a lot of tram lines. Here we can see the hydrological research centre and an advance school.

Futura-12Mar971331814573.jpg

The grand central station is ready to serve any Sim want to commute with the neighbour cities.

Futura-12Feb971331814461.jpg

Not all stadiums here are domed.

Futura-8Oct971331815658.jpg

In the South-East of the city, there is a beautiful farm next to a small waterfall. Everything in normal here...

Futura-8May971331814930.jpg

The nuclear fusion power plant pumps hydrogen from water and use it for providing enormous amounts of energy.

Futura-8Jan971331814340.jpg

An airshow is happening here. Try to spot it.

Futura-8Dec961331814100.jpg

Speaking about airshows...

Futura-8Apr971331814733.jpg

The city is expanding, both upwards and downwards. Underground cities provides entirely comfortable homes for many, no matter if they're under polar places, deserts, forests or cities.

Futura-7Feb981331819036.jpg

Plenty of tram lines, plazas and civic services.

Futura-7Feb981331818958.jpg

Futura-7Feb981331818883.jpg

Futura-7Feb981331818784.jpg

Clean water for everyone.

Futura-7Feb981331818700.jpg

The city zoo.

Futura-7Feb981331818639.jpg

The double decker highway serve more cars by using less space.

Futura-7Feb981331817369.jpg

Futura-7Feb981331817235.jpg

This arcology is constructed by reinforced and pre-stressed concrete, steel and glass. Thanks to those buildings, more land is available for parks and wilderness preserves, while concurrently helping to eliminate urban sprawl. This building is a total enclosure system containing an access centre, as well as childcare, educational, health, and recreational facilities. This will help alleviate the need to travel to outside facilities.

Futura-3Oct971331815514.jpg

A beautiful cultural facility, with an opera and a large museum.

Futura-3Mar971331814520.jpg

The city from a really large distance.

Futura-3Apr961331813685.jpg

More industries.

Futura-2Nov971331816219.jpg

Railroad madness.

Futura-2Nov971331816157.jpg

Skyscrapers next to the forest.

Futura-2Nov971331816057.jpg

The Pegadyne Rivergraphic Institute studies and protects the native life, like fishes and frogs.

Futura-2Nov971331816030.jpg

Some Sims are living in parks, next to small apartment buildings, close to the beach and under the radio station.

Futura-2Nov971331816008.jpg

Futura-2Nov971331815985.jpg

Futura-2Nov971331815952.jpg

And finally a casino.

Futura-5Sep971331815371.jpg

In the north-east of the colony, a small colony ship from Earth has landed and a small settlement established. Mars belong to every Sim and there are no nations, wars, nationalism and borders here in the red planet. Mars is everybody's home, a world based on science and understating.

Mars however is still a dangerous world, without oxygen and water. Martian geysers becomes more and more common here in the mayor colonies, without putting them in danger.

Respect-8-13Feb501331027141.jpg

Respect-8-17Feb501331027155.jpg

There are still some "loonies" who like planting trees on Mars. In domes of course...

Respect-8-3Mar501331027228.jpg

Respect-8-7Mar501331027244.jpg

But Mars is truly belong to the SimMartians? There are many buildings made by an ancient civilization, about a million years old. However in the south-east of Respect-8, there is a strange formation of stones called Marshenge. Marshenge made about 100 years ago, and probably not naturally. Is there an intelligent specie lurking around the Martian deserts? The orbital scanners and air droids didn't find them yet, if they still exist. What will happen if/when the modern SimMartians will meed the Ancient Martians?

O.K., so what is the very first thing you'll have in your mind when you hear "Mars"? A colony? A cold desert? No, it's a rural geothermal power plant! Very common here in Mars :P

Respect-8-17Jun501331028034.jpg

Respect-8-21Jun501331028046.jpg

Even more common are the rural water pumps. Now this is something that's very rare on Earth

Merry Second Christmas!

"Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it's Christmas."

Dale Evans

Planet Mars need 2 Terran years to orbit around Sun. Because of this, Mars has 24 months. So SimMartians celebrate Christmas 2 times in 1 Martian year.

We're talking about Eden: The New Frontier, the only (so far) Simcity 4 story that it's totally based on planet Mars. The only (so far again) story with tons of Martian colonies and landscapes, Celestia pictures and scientific visions. And yes, it's my birthday today. To celebrate the 1 year of Eden, here is a nice video made by me. Hope that you like it :)

And of course we have 68 cool pictures from planet Mars 8)

Many folks here, in SC4Devotion and Simpeg select the blue pill, a future metropolis on Earth made by scratch. Others select the red pill, an improved version of a colony on Mars. Because there is still a lot of room for voting, please keep voting. Blue pill or red pill? Wanna see in the the next page a city on Earth or a colony on Mars? Until then, here are some pictures from the Terran city. Remember that is just in the beginning...

Live from Orbit T.V., the first T.V. studio orbiting around Earth, it's the Solar News! Everything you need to know about Earth, Moon and Mars.

futura18jun001320769095.jpg

With of course our beautiful journalist Ann Spears.

_-Space-Channel-5-Ulala-Look-a-like-Case-Dismissed-_.jpg

Greetings ladies and gentlemen. Today is 11/11/2065 A.D. (96 A.T.) and here are the news. First, the headlines. A Sim called Terring failed to build a beautiful Terran city for his City Journal Eden: The New Frontier. The city should be an ecological and futuristic metropolis, but the result was a catastrophe.

newregion1321035865.jpg

futura17may271321035636.jpg

futura23may271321035663.jpg

He also said that the viewers should not forget to select the blue or the red pill. Blue for a Terran city, red for a Martian colony.

redblue_pill.jpg

Most probably he will start the construction of a new, better city very soon. Stay tuned. In the main news, llamas with oxygen masks escaped from local Martian farm and run away for unknown destination...

Terring

Today I'm here with 2 pills. Help me for the next page by selecting the pill you wish. Do this wisely however, the pill you'll select may (or may not) turn against you...

matrix_red_blue_pill.jpg

If you select the blue pill, you'll stay on Earth. The next page will be about an ecological metropolis of 2065 A.D. (96 A.T.) on planet Earth, where technology and nature almost co-exist. Everything will be almost as you wish, making the next page nice and safe.

futura16jun001320681079.jpg

If you select the red bill, you'll visit Mars. The next page will be about improving Fun-5, where the spiritual and technological evolution co-exist with the deadly environment of Mars. Everything will be as I wish, making the next page strange and dangerous.
