Sydney

SydneyBanner.png?dl=1

Our trip to Sydney begins with one of the world's most recognizable buildings - the Sydney Opera House. Built in 1973 - its unique white seashell shape truly sets this skyline apart from the rest. Sitting just behind it is the Royal Botanic Gardens - opened in 1816, there's no better place to take a stroll on a sunny day.

Just as recognizable is the world famous Sydney Harbour Bridge - built in 1932, it's one of the best ways to cross the harbour. At night, its distinctive lights dominate the neighboring waters.

Water taxis are a great way to get around the harbour, and the Circular Quay (whose name contradicts its squarish shape) near the CBD is one of the most popular destinations in the entire city.

Sydney is a city known for it's suburbs. In fact, it's got 555 of them - but few are as beautiful as Lavender Bay. It's easily reached by water taxi, has great views of the Harbour Bridge and the skyline in the distance - not to mention being ranked consistently as one of Sydney's most livable suburbs. It's truly a great place to call home.

A rainy day in the CBD. Some of Sydney's most recognizable buildings can be found near Hyde Park - such as the MLC Centre, which held the title as the city's tallest building for 15 years. Nearby is the Sydney Tower - completed in 1981, you can enjoy some exotic cuisine 360 degree rotating restaurant.

Another scene from the CBD - some of Sydney's tallest buildings - Deutsche Bank Place, Chifley Tower, and Aurora Place tower over the nearby Royal Botanic Gardens.

However, it's at night that these buildings truly come to life.

And finally, some overviews of the city.

Wow , those images are so gosh darn incredible . It took me several minutes to reply as I was stunned by your image editing awesomeness . That night overview (last image) is spectacular and quite a finale , like watching fireworks on the 4th of July . :thumb:

I must say this is one of my favorite entries yet for one simple reason - SimCity is still visible. Other entries are just jaw dropping as you think they are photos, but this is equally, if not more jaw dropping as you can see SimCity 4 in there. You can see the grid, I can certainly see assets I use, and that makes it even better. How you've used things, rather than what you've used - it truly is fantastic.

@_Michael Thanks for the kind words Michael, glad you enjoyed it. Although, I'd say SC4 has been plenty visible in all my updates :P

@Abrams124 They appear fine for me, might have been a temporary issue with Dropbox - the site seems to go offline every so often. EDIT: Glad you can see them now, thanks for the comment :)

@Abrams124 Nah :P While some of the graphics are pretty impressive (especially some of the stuff I've seen Bipin create) - I'm simply way too loyal and have spent far too much time perfecting SC4 to ever consider a switch.

(too happy you're ot switching to CS) Apart from that, just :

But also : OK, I get that this is a highly... processed CJ :-), but you should consider finding a way to share some of those bats (especially the not circular water taxi quays in picture 2 ; or are they from somewhere I missed ?) I remember the Sidney Opera never looked that good when it was uploaded - I even passed on it, waiting for an eventual redoing of the textures... :-)

May I ask how in the world did you achieve setting that bridge in that angle? Or is it photoedited?

@tariely Thanks for the comment :) The docks are actually airport terminals from the "ACB Airport pack" (here I believe). Their original roof color was gray which looks fine, but I had to recolor them green to match the ones in Sydney. Btw, did you check this Opera house? :P Also, I don't think I'm allowed to share anything though unfortunately (don't have permission from authors)

@TekindusT I made my own entire modular highway system using the bridge + highway model I found here. It didn't turn out perfect though in game (I probably would have done some things differently next time around), so some PS was used to address graphical glitches, clean up transitions between pieces, etc and make it presentable.

@Kaschperl Thanks for the kind words!

I can't stop scrolling up and down through these pictures,  Its like with masterpieces of music, you listen to over and over because you hear something different each time.   These pictures belong in an art gallery where someone could spend an afternoon studying and enjoying them.  The text is perfectly descriptive as well.  Also appreciate a bit of revealing the sources and processes of the composition.  Thank-you for this great work.

I agree,i think City Builder games like SC4 and Skylines can be much more better than drawings, even Picasso ones

Sorry, I have no words to describe your work. I am just mindblown on the amount of detail you have put into each shot. Great stuff all round! :)

o.O  ...?

Spoiler

I'm sure everyone would agree this is one of the most remarkable CJ updates of all time! :thumb:

The realism, the buildings, the trees, the detail, the bridge, the clouds, the rain, the ripples, the reflections, the everything! :8)
