Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Good God man, this is threadomancy for the ages. I have two posts on the same page five and a half years apart, in a thread I've been following for ten years haha.

Good luck, the base looks great!

"If you try to please everybody, you often times end up pleasing nobody, especially yourself. When somebody offers to do a favor for free, like making a mod for SimCity 4, you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you. In other words, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." - Twilight Sparkle after playing SimCity

"Being a mayor or a content creator for SimCity 4 is a heavy responsibility, Patrick. Each city and each custom content is like a child, and must be treated as such." - SpongeBob Squarepants after playing SimCity

My only concern is that the building itself appears a bit too blue, considering the camera angle.

But man, that base! Wow. I'm, uh, well. Really nice work.:thumb:

Alrite, alrite, alrite...!

Since one year I now finally have replaced my gaming laptop from 2008 with a beefy PC rig, meaning working in 3ds Max is now much faster and rendering much less of an endless waiting thing. My PC is able to easily handle this big baby (despite low poly methods used we are at 16 million polygons now). So I always promised I would finish this project and I hold on to that promise. Now that I took this year to set up my new business in RL and that is settling I'm having more time for this also.

So, as for the status of the project:

  • currently works are being done to finish the base
  • atm working on beefing up all the flora details
  • left to do are all the decals for the roads, reworks of some plaza areas like the fountains at the roundabout, addition of vehicles, signs and other small details, a café area and some coach bus parking and entrance area in the back
  • after the base is done work continues at tower, reworks of tower details and overhaul of all the balcony details, rework of windows
  • after tower is completed then night scene with lights (kind of dreading that stage)
  • then finalisation like error eliminations and color corrections etc., afterwards all the steps for creating lot and release

Have a look at the current work-in-progress:

GOOD TEXTURES ARE MADE, NOT FOUND.
(I get tired of saying that in BAT threads.)

"I believe in talking behind peoples' backs. That way, they hear it more than once." - Fran Lebowitz
"Ordinary morality is for ordinary people." - Aleister Crowley

"That's no moon...it's a BAT Project!"

As it is also a supertall BAT project, do you have to break it up vertically into segments or something?  I vaguely recall reading that there was a certain height limitation for objects in SimCity or BAT, and that to overcome it, supertall projects had to be broken up into vertical section props and then those prop segments were stacked in the Lot Editor.  As I have never fully done such a tall project, but have been tinkering with a tower that could reach such heights, I'm curious as to the experiences others have had with them.

Yes this is how it works, the base will be split into two low boxy LODs and then there is a separate, more custom LOD for the tower. I tried this years ago to see it it actually works to bring it ingame.

This is an image from that trial, showing an older version of the model. The current one is obviously different, but also the tower was increased in height and the top section was reworked to match the original better. You will see more of the tower after I worked on it.
