Last I heard, he went off for some cancer related surgery on the 30th of May. While he did inform us ahead of time that his leave of absence from the site would be indefinite, he did also indicate a range of a week.

It has been over 3 weeks. While I am not one to beg a group of individuals for my personal sake, I do request that anyone who is capable of getting in contact with him - a friend of his from real life, perhaps - do so and allay concerns as to his current condition. It seems grotesque to simply forget about the man, with how intergrated into the SC4 universe he is.

A day without one of his posts is a day where the sun might as well not bother rising.

(Dear moderators, I am unsure as to where this topic should be, or if it should be at all. Move it or delete at your discretion. Thank you.)

Me too.

I was off of this forum for months and suddenly came back to it just 3-4 days ago and I read one of his posts where he said that he will going for a hospital stay.

Get well soon Nonny.

Lately I didn't do much on Simtropolis. I'm bussy. But the more days passing by I surf more often to Simtropolis in the hope of a post from him. And this creates a strange tension - some kind of restlessness: come on boy, show up again!

Given what surgery was described it wouldn't surprise me if he's not back til the end of june. Sitting anywhere never mind in front of a computer monitor after that is gonna take a while.

I think we are all worried about how he is given the length of time he's been absent, I have done a couple of google searches in the area he lives under his real name and nothing came up, so I'm treating this as a good sign but given his age it could be taking him a lot longer than anticipated to recover.

I have been very concerned myself. I had hoped that we would hear something from someone.

Of course, surgery recovery time depends on a number of factors, and there's not always a set timeframe.

Get well soon, Nonny. The entire community is eagerly awaiting your return.

Nonny is like the glue that holds the off-topic section of ST together.  Without him, the place just doesn't feel right.  Please be OK, please!

Ah, so that explains it. Good that I wasn't the only one concerned. It's been more than a month. I hope nothing terrible has happened. No Log-in since May 30 which is unusual for him.

Tell me about it, I seriously hope he's doing well. Like Catty, I've been conducting the odd search now and then for him, going with 'no new is good news'. Like she said though, he is in his 70's and it could take longer to recover.

He could also be recovering somewhere that doesn't have computer access, or at least that's what I'm hoping is the case

Yeah, from what he's mentioned over the years he could well be on a boat somewhere. If so,we probably won't hear from him for a couple of months at least.

I know enough about John to understand he would be best off if he enjoyed retirement somewhere relaxing and fun, in complete blissful ignorance of current events. I hope he's enjoying the natural scenery, with loved ones who tell him none of the scary/exciting/depressing news. Staying inside with nothing but a computer to access the outside world is torture if one likes keeping up to date on current events and is easily dismayed by bad news.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Not so sure about this, Nonny wouldn't leave the forum completely for so long without at least leaving a message where he's about. He is too much liking the social  on this site. Even on other sites where I see him once in awhile (eg. Banished etc) he hasn't shown up since. Did anyone to try to PM him lately?

I don't wanna be rude or prompt with the idea, but let's not forget that he is some years older than I, and at that age sometimes things happen quite quickly (speaking with experience) . Let's not hope so.

Nonny, wherever you are, it's time to pop up and leave us a message please. ;)

I'm finally trying to get back into this site again only to find out about this situation. My prayers are sent his way, and I hope he makes a comfortable and healthy return to the site.

It was John who bought me to this site all those years ago...   He was my first online friend.

Hopefully he still is, but must admit as time goes on its getting more difficult to believe that's he's OK and is just taking a lot longer to recover than he anticipated

It is September now. I do not want to say it yet but as each day passes, there is an increasing possibility that he may never return. I hope I am wrong.

I know this may sound something weird to do, but isn't it possible to someone from Canada or the US check his number in an online phone book and try to get some informations? I think it's a sort of invasion of privacy but since he is a very nice member and we are all missing him, there's nothing to lose.
