Reworked my interchange near the Portside Industrial Park. I has definitely worked, and didn't require that much bulldozing after all.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

'Some danny' (No pillars mod) and 'japa' (fine road heights) have single-handedly (double-handedly?) fixed almost everything wrong with CS highways and they are my heroes!

Built off the starting piece of highway in the first plot, where the highway loops around.

holy crap, that episode is going to be either amazing, or very frustrating to watch :)

Nice job on the Beast though, looks great.

Made my first 4-way junction. It's a beast.

Very nice. May I ask, how did you make the 'On slope' transitions in the left of the first image?

Thanks

Here it is scaled back a bit, the loop also fills the central gap.

I use a mod called fine road heights that lets you change slopes from 12m to 3m. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=413678178&searchtext=fine+road+heights

It feels so good to play this game again! Clearly I've been going through withdrawal because I made not one but THREE interchanges within 24 hours. :boggle:

Number 1: A large kinda cloverstack + partial Y with some rail mixed in.

Detail Shots!

Number 2: It's uhh... something. 8)

Number 3: A rebuild of my river causeway interchange. This one made my funds go from around 5 million into the negatives. :D

After:

Details!

EDIT: AMERICAN ROADS! Node intersections are still impossible and the sidewalk/pavement is a tad bright for my liking. Still, this is a big step forward!

Enjoy!

I just built a diamond interchange. Or let's say the idea of a diamond interchange. Thought it looked quite alright, until I unpaused and realized that it actually doesn't work very well with some traffic :( Back to the drawing board

Next try. This one actually makes a lot more sense. The interchange connects the main highway to downtown and a rural highway.

Good job everyone! Those noodles... I bet in real life they should be at least twice larger!

Here is my work until now:

My previous prefab T interchange. Its size was 40 by 62 cells, or 320 by 500 meters. I measured one freeway junction and it is roughly 400 by 800 meters. So I decided to enlarge it.

Before:

After:
cZ5FP6D.jpg

Note this new interchange also comes prefabricated. I used No Pillar mod and switch to Overlap mode to build outside the boundaries. Its size is 54 by 98 cells, or 430 by 800 meters. (link to my product)

Area view:
Txb65qc.jpg

1- the new prefab T interchange
2 and 4- prefab SPUI
3- A trumpet between W/E and Northbound freeways, with added local access for industries.

Did you notice the girih tiles? :D
They can act as some sort of ruler!

Well, is not much at the moment. The good iinterchange is coming. At the moment I can show this small interchange.

Starter interchange featured in previous posts.  The spur has since been extended into a beltway:

CS_0017.png

Trumpet interchange previously featured.  This one ended up becoming well over capacity so I effectively double-decked it.  The industry in the area has since moved on, though, so now it's relatively overbuilt.

CS_0018.png

Still-rural interchange on the new beltway:

CS_0019.png

My solution to cargo rail station congestion in tight quarters.  The station on top is a newer addition to help compensate for the limited directionality of the configuration.

CS_0020.png

Uses just about every inch of the tile area available:

Nice stack James! It may be overkill now but it's always just enough for the future :)

I've done a little refitting and rebuilding myself, especially now that there are quite a number of mods available. This was my first interchange that I built and posted around a month ago. Was really proud of it at the time.

Hmm, 9x9 tiles arrived opening more space... A tad upgrade for coastal expansion...

fYaiZPZ.jpg

Plan vs completion... Oh well total fail on the roundabout. If only the game is as easy & flexible as using Photoshop... sigh.  :sly:

Can still be polished up, but this is what I ended up with after a marathon session ;)

Your interchanges are always so professional looking and executed, a Cities Skyline freeway tutorial would be greatly appreciated...

Looks good guys!

Haha, thanks!

Tutorial? The game's barely been out for a month. None of us are experts yet. In fact I still don't know how well this will function as I have yet to develop all the area around it.

Here's what it looks like now with the US road textures and darker asphalt. Starting to developing the surrounding area too.

How do y'all get your interchanges so symmetrical and tight? I have a big ugly interchange that I'm proud of because it works but afraid to post here. :lost:

There is a fair bit of planning for most of my interchanges, as I like to sketch out the rough design of it before starting my build. After that it's mostly trial and error in trying to get ramps and overpasses to fit nicely together. I also found that the collision toggle portion of the No Pillars mod is extremely useful for super-tight situations, as it basically eliminates most rules in regards to overpasses, and you can create stuff like this.

KnQLEac.jpg

Hope that helps!
