Alright, good to know the game can handle lot sizes even if there are none ingame at the moment.

 

I'll create a 4x2 for 1 and 2 and make some grow

They do grow... just then they stop.  You can also place them with the Eyedropper.  They have a normal info display as they are leveling up, with a light blue progress bar and green bars for the previous levels, and a tooltip for info.  But when they hit the upgrade threshold, they lose the blue bar and you get a "No Info Available" tooltip.

It seems like the game makes a hard distinction between corner and non-corner lots now, to the point that if it decides a lot is a corner, it won't try to find non-corner lots, and it also won't search for the other possible orientation. If modders are making non-square "corner" lots, they need to make right and left versions.

Does it exist?  In the asset editor, the templates list several 4x2 lots, just none at level 5.  There's also 2x4 level 5 lots.  But the lots only divide into 2x2s when the first building spawns - they never subdivide with later upgrades.

That's not 100% correct. What really happens:

Actually the game calculates 2 possible plots (sometimes the same plot is calculated twice). Then it determines the corner type of the 2 plots (cornerLeft, cornerRight or straight).

So this is what the game has calculated:

PLOT1 { width, length, cornertype, position }
PLOT2 { width, length, cornertype, position }

Then this happens:

0. Take PLOT1 if it is a corner plot, try to find a corner building with the given footprint.

Not building found?
1. Take PLOT2 If it is a corner plot, try to find a corner building with the given footprint.

Not building found?
2. Take PLOT1 if it is a corner plot. Is the depth > 3? try to find a corner building with the given width and a depth of 2 or 3.

Not building found?
3. Take PLOT2 if it is a corner plot. Is the depth > 3? try to find a corner building with the given width and a depth of 2 or 3.

Not building found?
4. Take PLOT1. Ignore the determined cornertype, search for a straight building with the given footprint.

Not building found?
5. Take PLOT2. Ignore the determined cornertype, search for a straight building with the given footprint.

Not building found?
Give up. No building will spawn.

What is right is that the game never subdivides or merges plots on upgrade like simcity 4 did.

No, that's not correct. "Straight" buildings will grow on corner lots if no "Corner" building was found (there are no corner buildings in the "International" theme), but not vice versa.

As far as I know, corner status is not evaluated on upgrade.

That is correct. I noticed this when I switched from "International" style to "European" and then lifted the highrise ban (= initiated an upgrade). The game did not use corner buildings, even though the European theme has them.

I have what I think is an original idea, not one I would go out of my way to use but one many would download if it were created.  How about snow cap texture.  I would think the best way to implement this is to create a second terrain modification icon, very similar to the sand texture icon and have it work in very much the same, as a brush on tool.  I imagine those who are skilled at making repeating textures would find this quite simple and trivial to make and if they do not know how already, they could partner up with someone who already knows how to make buttons on the UI for it(Obviously I don't know much about game modification).  To be honest, it really seems so simple that it boggles me that it is not already here.

At the moment, people just replace the sand texture in the texture replacer with a snow texture.

I really like the neighborhood theme. Buildings from Roman or Spanish architecture would be cool. Then you could make neighborhoods like in the large US cities. Have a China town, Greek section, Irish section, Polish section etc...

Some building are devolve by abandoning that why the population change is decreasing...what we can do on the problem? RENOVATE THE BUILDING owned by yours put on the real estate market. Then, the buyers can occupied this buildings full as thy can...about the PAINTING tool which change the color of the building itself. The effect of this ... the abandoned building will be renovated that increase 2.4%~15.6% of a population. The REAL ESTATE AGENT must inspects the abandoned transformed into renovated for sale among the occupants that increase 26%...surely you can build a PROPERTY ASSYLUM which remove the abandoned building as well as renovated buildings. Some building are automatically collapse that's why the Engineers can inspect the risk of the strength of the structure as well to become stable...build a ENGINEERS DEPOT which the engineers estimates the amount of quotes from Site, Structural, Foundation, Finishes, Doors and windows, HVAC, electrical and etc... CITY can be owned renovate abandoned buildings that is a source of revenue instead of tax...What about the HOUSE KEEPING and REPAIR for the non-abandoned building?! ...suppose to be build a HOUSEKEEPING DEPOT and REPAIR DEPOT which automatically maintain all the building risk of fire and lots of the problems... What the City Skyline mentioned on that problem?  Some districts specially the industry which considered a problem of a economy... You can build a OIL DRILLING DERRICK connecting the OIL PIPELINE trough the OIL REFINERY

Not so much a request for a mod as a request for content, but I would be overjoyed if somebody added in Banyan trees of the F. microcarpa variety; I'm working on a city with a generic southeast/east Asia theme, and having those in combination with the existing bamboo foliage by Shroomblaze (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=441825328) would have me jumping for joy.  Heck, I'm even willing to commission (pay money) for somebody to do it.

On a different note, RodolfoJunior's economy-related posts remind me of the City Industry info panel available in SimCity 2000 (for whatever it's worth):

I suggest the following.

1. Roundabouts that work correctly - meaning that traffic on the roundabout has priority and doesn't keep slowing down and stopping to allow traffic to join.

2. Traffic that stops or moves out of the way for emergency vehicles.

3. Traffic that overtakes slower vehicles on the motorway rather than sitting behind it forming a queue.

4. Trains that don't just disappear in the station.

I'm sure there are others but I can't think of them just now.

The first one can be made with traffic manager plus, you can set priorities so a roundabout will now work as a real roundabout.

Someone build a offline content/assetmanager with options to switch / change the harddisk content off diff. folders like steamfolder.

Saveoption for different assettemplates, and load gamemaps within the manager.

 

Im not sure how it is for you but skyline crashs most of time if  content / mods are to much and i got 8 core with 16k ram.

Even if the game runs smooth the menu within the game cant handle it makes me sick.

 

Someting like the modmanager for simcity4.

Hi to all

I cant make mods but i'd like to have one. In 4 specialized industries, i would like to extract only, then send extracted products (wood, cereals and cattle, oil and minerals) to generic industries. No transformation (goods) except for generic. Is it possible ?
