What is that thing that comes out of the advanced research center in SimCity 4?

I want to hear what you guys think about this.

I think its a Half-Life style occurrence, so they got crystals from Xen and their testing them and one kind releases that thing that comes out of the building.

OR

The scientists at the advanced research center are just screwing with us and the residents.

Ah yes, the infamous glowing lightning ball?

Research Lightning.jpg

Nobody knows for sure what kind of "research" goes on in there. There's lots of rumours and misleading information. Though with things like this and emitting radiation, it's certainly not welcomed by local residents! *:P

*In a Jeremy Clarkson voice* -- Some say the scientists that work here are actually employed by the arch enemy of SimCity, Dr Vu.

Another theory is that the scientists found out how to create ball lighting and it got loose.

It is a quantum fluctuation in the time continuum that manifests itself as a slow moving electrical discharge.  Most likely the fluctuation comes from the experiments to discover the GUT (Grand Unified Theory).

It's probably just Booby Dooby Da-Da Ding-Ding seeing what happens when you put a Hot Pocket in the particle accelerator. Ain't for nothin' it's called the Advanced Research Center, after all.

How about a general failure to become when trying to reverse the chronosynclastic infundibulator?  Could simply be overflow adeledicnander.

I think they forgot to take the tin foil wrapper off the kit kat bar before they put it in the microwave. I actually knew a girl who did that once.

Let's keep it Wittgensteinian. What we cannot speak of, we must pass over in silence.

That thing is simply 'advanced research'

You mean you've never seen Lawn Chair Larry before?  If you look in the lot editor, you'll find him as an animated prop.  I've been known to put him in a yard or two.  He is based on a real event.

    Hmm...

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they are running experiments to see just what happens to a twinkie when it is exposed to radiation.  And it probably receives 1 trillion simoleans per year in government funding from Simnation.

And as far as the results go...you probably don't want to know what that thing is. :D

I'm gonna bring this old thread back to life and say that it might be coming from the completion of a Supertask. No reason why that'd happen or even be possible but I'd expect that in SimCity.
