It's just....so bwautiful *--* congratulations! Wonderful job.

When you said: "Schriefer: With MMPs it's far more easier to achieve realism, or as close to real as this game will allow." I was wondering what actually 'MMPs' means '-'

    feeroz123: Blunder's map of Zurich Switzerland has quite a few huge mountains.

    #1SithLord: Thanks!

    Schriefer: Good old Mayor-mode ploppables, a must-have necessity

    Update 6: Cranksville- The Industrial Quarter

    wqq5.png

    Welcome to Cranksville a neighbouring city just north of Tamboria, one which is home to 250000 people. The tour around Cranksville will be divided into 4 parts.

    Area covered in part 1;

    thsl.png

    For part 1 we travel around Cranksville's industrial quarter, nearly all of the heavy industry and large freight stations are found here. While a little northwards there is suburban area of moderate density.

    Area covered in part 2;

    ujbj.png

    Cranksville's downtown; an area which is covered in part 2. Aside from the grand train station and high wealth office blocks, there are a couple of stadiums, two industrial estates, three residential districts and one county hospital. Plus there are a few oddities tucked away here and there...

    Area covered in part 3;

    qk9q.png

    Part 3 covers Cranksville's CBD and the two residential districts immediately next to it. To the west of the CBD lies a rather posh suburb, while to the east there resides some of the most expensive real estate in the area.

    Area covered in part 4;

    2vkw.png

    Lastly, part 4 explores the remaining residential areas south of the CBD, whilst eastwards we take a look at a small rural area; a village which has yet to be gobbled up by Cranksville.

    There are a lot of pictures to get through, so let part 1 commence!

    ///

    ///

    j67p.png

    qodm.png

    5xvr.png

    orop.png

    Surrounded by a cement factory, a freight station and a trucking depot, Cranksville's jail is a pretty grim place for incarcerated Sims.

    7ott.png

    A second freight station, this one both picks up and unloads freight containers, gas and oil tanks.

    o9wo.png

    Surrounded by industry, and disturbed every ten minutes by the freight trains, this is a small slice of nature which was spared simply because of the impracticality of running a road across this stretch of the railway tracks.

    vviu.png

    6n.png

    Diagonal fillers are a God-send!

    wqp1.png

    So to is grunge concrete...

    x4lu.png

    In the centre there is Cranksville's postal distribution depot.

    e216.png

    Just North of the industrial district lies one of Cranksville's stadiums.

    xdp2.png

    Diagonals have never looked so nice...

    e4ow.png

    i85o.png

    i4il.png

    With this being one of Cranksville's least glamorous stadiums, it only makes sense that a garbage disposal depot is simply a stone's throw away.

    65sx.png

    cy23.png

    Despite being right next to the garbage disposal depot, this stadium has a loyal following of soccer fans.

    szda.png

    Another shot of the entire industrial quarter.

    ///

    And that concludes part 1. Next Saturday there will be part 2.

    Lastly I would like to give special thanks to Andreas and his SFBT Diagonal Filler Lots. They have really helped with my city building.

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

    Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

    Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

    But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

    The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

    With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

    With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

    Our Your city is so alive, full of running trains, cars passing, walking Sims and realism was great, the buildings on the diagonal are legal, the photo showing the whole city was very beautiful, congratulations for your great Ln X daily!

    Amazing entry here.

    One question. I saw some industry buildings not directly placed/connected to a road/street, but surrounded by grunge concrete. Are the grunge concrete tiles transit enabled? Don't those buildings cry for road connection? First pic in Part 1. Or are those all plopped non-functional buildings?

    I really like it, very well planned and great use of BATs, but i think that it is a little repetitive in some areas, apart from that,i can't wait for more

    feeroz123: I still haven't explored other industrial layouts/designs: primary industries (resource gathering), industrial wastelands, seaports, industrial complexes and of course agriculture.

    CorpusDei:  I like to blend the concrete jungle with nature, as for the railway- realism dictated no other choice.

    Schriefer: You'll see more of the city centre in update 8.

    slickbg56: Thanks!

    DustyLee23: Cranksville is indeed a work in progress, and sometimes an incomplete tile is a complete one...

    Ceafus 88: Thank you!

    tankmank: Some of that repetition was deliberate; for instance the residential area had a lot of these four storey flats, but the store fronts were rather varied so...

    freemunchies: Thanks!

    Benedict: I'm just getting started, for the next year my weekends are free and I have a 72km by 80km to fill so there is alot more work to do. And thus more updates to follow.

    monomass: That would be the CS$$$ Stage 9 Foxs Club Globe building. You need CAM first of all, membership of the LEX and then the following links: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1017 (CARCH Lots BSC), https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=694 (BSC MEGA Props - CARCH Vol02) and https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2039.0 (which lists all available CAM buildings to all corresponding lots). I would like to add that once you start using CAM then you automatically have to download ALOT of dependencies to avoid those brown boxes, whilst the use of BSCleanitol is VITAL for removing conflicting files and cleaning up folders.

    I love that you're using that railway station! So many dependencies, but it is definitely worth it. :D

    Oh, and a quick tip: If you have the rail lines spaced with that one tile in between, you could use FAR to cross lines. It looks a lot better, trust me!

                      My friend I am envious of your rail work!! I have always tried to have nice rail systems for my train loving Sims and visitors, but it is always sub par to awesome works like yours. You use the curves provided by those awesome modders on the NAM team very well. It adds a good element of realism, and it does nothing but help this CJ look great. I love the way the rails wind throughout, almost always tucked away in the thick of some nice trees. I'd love to take a ride on one of them and just cruise around for the day, looking at all of the awesome scenery, neighborhoods, and downtown areas your city has to offer. I do have one question. Where did you get those fence lots featured in pictures #20 and #21 in post #78? They seem to be great filler lots. They are one of the little things that CJers may not think to add, but help pictures look that much more realistic. With those fences, someone may wonder on to the tracks, which may not end well! Also, one suggestion if I may. I am unsure where in the world this city is, but should it not be in a tropic area, I would suggest downloading a palm tree remover or replacer. I downloaded one years ago and haven't looked back since. Of course, this is only a mere suggestion. Your CJ is spectacular regardless!

    Great work as always my friend!

    I love the way your city is sculpted around the rail system. Also, I typically prefer RHW, but I really like the use of Maxis highways here and I think they really fit! Finally, I really am in love with your use of custom content, especially that football stadium, (the one with the orange and in the middle of a residential neighborhood) is that from here on the STEX?

    Also, you have many buildings that I never saw before.

    Lovely update. I'm a little disappointed, though, for all the hard work in making such an intricate rail network, of the slopes involved (esp with the short 0-15m piece). It would have been more realistic to have a 4-way crossing there, especially since the large rail station would limit approach speed anyways.

    Still, it's a great update; got a lot of good ideas here, and this easily demonstrates your ability with the old as well as with the new (SC2013 being the reference, of course).

    Looking forward to more...

    (FreeMunchies, I think the stadium is the default Maxis Major league stadium that is available via ingame reward/ You don' deserve it cheat)
