I lol'ed so hard at some of the crap in this thread!

Ive had a few fails myself but I didnt take pics since i thought they had no use to me. Anyway, yesterday, I was trying to demolish a mansion since it was taking up a huge amonunt of space, and no matter what I did, the main mansion still stayed up. I tried dezoning, bulldozing, zoning new lots over it, but no matter what I tried, it still stayed up! Its not the only time ive had that happen to me, its happened quite alot of times. The fix is easy though; just exit to region and go back into the city. Its pretty funny though and Im sure im not the only one that has experienced this!

Well that would explain it.

Better go fix that.

And I forgot to post one:

Do they ever get tired of building those? They almost filled a whole block with them!

Actually, the one-way road turned to the left before the dead end. There, it is just a normal road. Still, too funny all the same!19.gif

EDIT: Upon furthur viewing, I see the issue, too. There is a little nub of one way road projecting onto the road. Ha!

trasport.jpg

I have so many issues with the route query tool I don't know where to begin. Personal subways across the streets, pedestrians (that are actually cars) which I suppose just fade away after walking too far and sims inventing new kinds of transports, just in this small part of town.

Looks like your sims just die after walking so far.

And that is one very high wealth house, a personal subway station, couldn't of been cheap.

You ever notice how some of your sims are so lazy the have to get into thier cars and drive only one tile across to the commerial building or industry next to them and then there are others who will walk for about 20 or 50 blocks.

I'd have to say it's one of the things that really drives me crazzy.

The other thing I find that dose not make sense is how can people who live in skyscrapers be driving cars around. Is it just me or dose that seem strange to you as well? I mean really where do you park your car at the end of the day when there is no where to park it.

Just two of the things I find strange, how about the rest of you. Have you noticed other strange things about sim city that where not fully thought out?

Oh, there's just so much. Buses in Sim city seem to work like real life taxis, taking the sims wherever they want whenever they want without following a route, just to name one thing along the theme of transit.

Hi Robin9000
LOL  Funny, I really haven't paid much attention to the citizens of SC. And no, I've never noticed that before, I've been so busy trying to get bigger buildings, I've never really watched any of the people much, except when they were rioting and fighting the police.  I'm new to the game anyway. I'm going to start to observe them now, thanks for the observation. I have to admit that I might resemble a SC citizen. I live across the street from the Supermarket where I shop and I get into my car and drive the 30- 50 yards to the store.  LOL  I don't think that I'm as strange as much as I'm a little lazy.
I think that the Sims that live in the highrise buildings  must have underground parking like most of the highrise building I've seen.

I never knew high rises had any parking. I always assumed when you got 6000 residents that there would be no real point in having parking. The costruction costs would be very high and it's not good from an investors point of view when the real money is in the rental of the units.

Some skyscrapers in real life do have underground parking. On some tall building the game does display a multi-level parking garage next to the building.

i think that sim city simulates traffic patterns fairly well...

who works right across the street from their home? and who walks to work and how far? or what form of transportation is used... and busses only stop at bus stops so i think the mad scientist at maxis got this pattern down fairly well (nam can make things a bit unrealistic, but i have a unique playing style). and sky scrapers in real life generally have parking available for those willing to pay the fee (makes me want to go back and play some sim tower)

the sims are great fun to watch... im going to go play now

A small odditie:

How are the sims going to drive up that parking lot???

Oh and look at this. If this is a garden store, that must be a really big planted tree!

@Robin9000

See that's the thing, SC4 overly exaggerates the amount of people that live in a building, I think there's a mod to fix it, for example a normal average mansion has something around 30 people living in it, so that shows that the population really shouldn't be that big or you know they literally shove 30 people in one house but that can be normal because in my house there's like 23 people living here ( no joking ). Also, with skyscrapers, yes, some have underground parking but some also have back allies to park in and you can park at a public parking lots or macca's if you want.

I was observing some construction on my new commercial zone when I noticed the toilet stall directly on the construction site!

Yes, and skate parks. It happens occasionally and can be anything really. This can also happen to the smoke from power plants, but it's all quite rare and is a common mac thing.

unfortunately i never got a shot of this but apparently, when my friend tried to drive a schoolbus, it deployed him right on a cement mixer. there was an explosion and the schoolbus flew straight up in the air and never came back down again! the first schoolbus in space!!
