Here's a bit of a random quickie to finish off the weekend. One step closer to finishing the city loop

There's still another building to go down the side to finish this one off. This will be a separate lot. Let me know what you think.

It's coming along nicely. I wonder why I barely notice this building last month...maybe I was obsessed by the Parliament itself

I want to say "The loop" won't be complete without another heart of it - Southern Cross. How will you deal with that complex building since it turned out to be a hard core for BATters... :kitty:

It's wonderful, and I don't have any critique or suggestion concerning it. However, I do think that a version without the subway exit in front, i.e. a W2W-compatible version would be great to have, too.

Thanks everyone The only change I made is to warm up the light coloured concrete it was looking a bit stark I thought. Sensible suggestion to split the lot actually. The building is 2x1 and the subway entrance is 1x1, so should be pretty easy.

Good one. But hell, what is that in the top left corner (pic 1 and 2) and the bottom left corner (pic 2). Looks like missing dependeny but it should have to do something with the ground map ...

 

And I would say you could turn down environmental reflection since the building is too small for them to be that visible.

Upon closer inspection, I just noticed that the glass on the front of the day version doesn't seem to have any distortion to it at all and instead shows a perfect mirror image. Although that's no deal breaker for me, it may be worth looking into. I also agree with Toothless Stitch's observations concerning those strange red/green light effects on the night version.

Thanks everyone. Here's an update with the first building completed and the second building added. IRL these are one building but I have BATed as two and will be on two lots.

 

As for the glass reflection, not sure why the distortions weren't really showing up, it might be a bit of an optical illusion because of how the windows frames are intersecting it. The distortions are fine in the 2nd building and it's the same glass. In any case I've darkened the reflections and this has made it not as noticeable. Good pick-up, thanks.

 

As for the night lights... well, all my BATs have these splashes of lights on them. Every couple of BATs someone complains about it. I like them, they remind me of car brake lights, or stop lights, or a neon sign being reflected

You're just unstoppable in the BATing world aren't you? Btw, I actually like the lighting streaks on the bldgs in the night renders. Would you actually mind if I asked for some of the material you use for reflections (day, night or both)? My one's are little lacking

 

PS. I just thought, you should try making something fictitious sometime. I'd really like to see something original from you, just to get a sense of any ideas you have

I've uploaded my night ground plane in my Q1 thread, and I've attached the link in your BAT thread. Here's the ground plane I'm currently using for day version. I usually set to 250m x 250m.

Thanks for the map reddon. A shame though that you're not much for custom designs. I can only imagine them being really great. But oh well, your recreations are still top of the line. Hope you don't mind if I throw you a suggestion and may be consider recreating the Sky Tower in Auckland though I can barely do it yet. Not a farcry from Australia

Looks good but there seems to be a big space at one corner. I don't particularly hate "L" shaped buildings (viewed from the top) but it would look better if there is something to fill the gap. Over all, another job well done.

It might just be me but isn't the glass too black. The reflections can hardly be seen with a that dark colour.

Looks outstanding! I really like the implementation as 3 separate lots too, adds a nice degree of flexibility and will make those tremendously useful. Imho the glass darkness is quite nice as-is but I don't always have the best eye for how these bat details and tweaks will play out.
