I don't know if I have just set the bar way too high, but in most of your works, the nightlights really do look like they come from inside the building. I don't know why, but on the PWC center they just look kind of glued on. Maybe it's just me being spoiled with your brilliant work. Still a beautiful building. :thumb:

You know that I highly appreciate what you do and that you are one of the most talented batters (job in this industry?)

But for whatever reason whenever you make a BAT I have the feeling that if you try to use them in game they look off. I don't know if the quality is too high for such an old game or if it is because they are done by RL dimensions but there is something that makes the BATs themselves great but in game they look ... weird compared to the rest.

Not meant to be offensive :O

I understand what you mean, Skyscraper. But when we get a bunch of high quality BATs, this old game becomes totally different.

If you see of mine, I bet you'll agree that it looks harmonious even having lots of recent BATs involved. We can design super delicate scenes now with the help of new concept BATs. From this point, I believe BATs will never be too delicate.

You forget you're among the ones who're making those great BATs? All your BATs are standing out! So why hesitate and suspect yourself, man? :P

Well, the only buildings of high quality I see is the Tribune Tower by darn and that building by Jason on the upper left side. I mean if you just take a look at Tribune Tower. You know it's not the tallest building in RL but still it's taller than one of the tallest building my SC4 (that blue box building (don't know its name)). That's pretty much what I want to say. The building themselves are totally fine and just like reddon they put very much detail into them and are working hard and stuff but sometimes it simply does not fit in to all this.

Btw, I only made one BAT and it's pretty likely there won't come anything new very soon :O

Looks wonderful, I see Etihad already has a placeholder :D Can I ask how many tiles the width of the Yarra River is near Princes Bridge?

I'm not aware of this building, what intersection is that?

336-376 Russell Street, at the intersection of Russell Street and La Trobe Street, and actually spanning the block to Mackenzie Street.  It stands on Russell Street opposite to the old Melbourne Magistrates' Court building.  Gosh, that city court is also pretty cool looking.  Once upon a time, the police headquarters towered alone with a radio mast that was sexily illuminated.  Wiki tells us that several Australian police detective dramas were filmed here.  Wiki also tells us that there was also a terrible car bombing targeting the police in the late 1970s that exploded just in front of the main tower entrance, sending shrapnel throughout the block and surroundings.  Nowadays, it's rear office block annex has been replaced by a modern glass tower that in pictures is also pretty stylish, and the city police headquarters itself houses apartments.

Aah that figures, I never go to that part of the city but I might check it out this weekend!

Why not just make it both a police station and a CO? I could see it being very useful in both categories.

And by the way, it looks great (as always). ;)

Well that was quick, as usual :P I didn't know the complex was called Concept Blue... yuck. The tower seems to be called Deco Tower though (at least that's what I saw at one of the entrances). Here's a close up shot if you want some more detail:

And thanks for the info about the river! :)

Hey Reddon,

I can't leave this thread alone for a minute! The developments in here happen too fast.

I was wondering; it's great that you're making this BAT (I really like low-rise art deco buildings), but I wonder if it would be possible to make a version without the Antenna mast?

I was thinking of trying to imitate this building in my San Diego CJ:

San Diego County Administration Building (downtown SD)

and of course having a version without a radio mast would be just peachy. But it's up to you of course. The similarities are striking, although I guess it's not like that particular Art Deco style is all that uncommon.

I like how it's looking so far, though.

Russell Street Police Headquarters look outstanding so far, naturally :P   It's always exciting for me when you take on these mid-sized projects.

Quite a fascinating recreation of Melbourne you've got going there! Quite interesting the way you've decided to handle the water areas. The finished areas look extremely nice and being able to have exactly the type of curves you want certainly adds to the realism in ways that aren't really possible with game water; at least with the seawall pieces that are available now or likely to be in the future. I've pretty much always gone with game water is it's offered more possibilities to me than the available lot-based canal sets did, including the ability to quickly and easily change the look of water by changing water mods, but I may have done things differently if I'd been a talented batter ;)  I do hope there's a possibility some of the nice bridge work you've done there could be used in regular bridges some time down the road. Keep up the great work!

And that corner building still exists today!
