Thanks for the replies both of you!

Our little treehouse under the highway is really starting to take shape.

This will extend under the length of ERHW L3 as a T21, with different pieces for the non-pillar sections obviously. I hope you enjoy the progress!

This is a fantastic idea Bipin! There are so few excellent modern houses for SC4, but these 2 examples look beyond what I thought was possible! How many different varieties of the 'modules' do you think you'll make, and do you think you'd be able to also release non-underpass versions?

I would like you to make a separate lot with these houses like a regular low density residential not under a highway as you originally intended. I see that through the glass roof the view is different from the sides.  o.O If you improve this one  problem it will be better.

Yeah, I believe I stated that issue briefly before. I've never had this problem before, I'm even using the same glass material as in all other BATs!

Are you using a solid material with a 1 sided geometry? Cause that would cause the problem you are having, tons of refraction distortion. Other than that, idk.

Btw, if you make water, do a solid material with 1 sided geo, you want it to happen in that case.

    Oh darn!

I decided to just render it as-is:

    8afcd25076e18eff905ae1cb6117bb1d5904bd2c

I did, however, add a few details.

    8afcd25076b3820590d81ae27b5a0174e264ad3c

Keep in mind it isn't meant to work with the other mod, at least, not in the current state.

    8afcd2507630cb5a6906682bcea2fa5f47291f53

So far things seem to look pretty good. I'll make sure to add additional configurations for variety (e.g. ones with windmills).

    8afcd25076282cdf7efc9c4160d17b576d31df6e

    Enjoy!

Please don't make them under freeways. It ruins the whole lot. I suggest you put additional modules on top and a rooftop garden and export it as a medium density growable residential.

C'mon, you have to appreciate innovative thinking and some creativity, And I think it's looking to turn out pretty good! Though it would be nice to see the BAT out on its own.

And just a thought, you should have these living modules as separate BAT models, I'd have some great ideas set out for how to use them :P

Oh and....I just hatched an idea...

Thanks for the kind words Huston. I'll be sure to give you a copy of these houses as something you can use with your futuristic project, given how well it works together with the item in the last image. ;)

Please don't make them under freeways. It ruins the whole lot.

That's kind of the whole idea...

I don't wanna make it sound like a request but when to do hand me a version of the BAT, could it be a garden or farm inside, just to suit the theme I'm going for :P

I'll just put one on top, that won't be hard as we've already got a green roof going. Alternatively, I may make a module exclusively for greenhouse use.

Something I whipped up in a couple minutes today:

    8afcd25076b5994f8315bb863d73a80c3491ab3f

These will also include those guardrail props as you've seen before.

    8afcd25076e6677f44eee0a9ad85ac5cada1f561

I hope to release these props as a T21 mod plus ploppable pieces for specialty situations. Enjoy!

I must say, you have a real knack for noticing the details. Until I saw your viaduct project, for instance, I never once stopped to think about how unrealistic the default freeways really are, but now I can't unsee the difference. Your work really adds a lot more realism and depth to the game :D

Here are the pieces with guardrails:

    8afcd250764bef2114bab2da01922d62239bdf75

Expect the outer lanes to be sans guardrails. Also, I'd like some opinions on how the delineators should be designed to satisfy both European and North American tatses. Currently the delineators are based upon Canadian ones.

I think the guardrails are much to shiny. Real guardrails would be limey and dirty, even brand new ones wouldn't be clean due to construction and etcetera. Lower the reflectivity and raise the roughness if you can.

In Europe, it's usually a plastic white pole with some marking (not always) and a reflector.

    Example from Germany:

    leitpfosten.jpg

Belgium (yes, we are the country of the surrealists). The reflector on the other side is white.

I was planning on lowering the reflectivity. Currently I'm trying out different metal textures, although many just don't do it for me. I was, however, thinking of making the pieces completely rusty or adding a bit of rust, as this would go especially well with prior projects which this is based off of (those ERHW networks, for instance). Anyways, here are the pieces at zoom five:

    8afcd25076e4b7c1f801d8aa116d15d690c12ada

Also note that it is slope-friendly! As for the jagged edges you see on the slopes, don't worry about that. Those are just random buildings I chose to occupy these test pieces. In other news, plan on seeing the roundabout and/or futuristic tower released this coming weekend!  :thumb:

The metal looks much better already, either clean or rusty would look great, imo, my suggestion would be to moderate on it, though. Somewhat rusty would be able to fit in many more situations than completely clean or derelict.

Here I use the Sim Mars futuristic freeway re-texture mod. The apartments may be placed under it.

Darn... I didn't change the metal yet. :P I guess zoom 5 just looks different. I have decided to go rusty. I'll replicate what I did with my ERHW props in that sections likely to be immersed in moisture for long periods of time will be more rusty. I have already studied rust patterns on guardrails for prior project so I'll just use that knowledge. :)

Konstantin, I'll make sure the apartments fit under there. Thanks for the tip! Also, Darn, your post count is equal to your reputation count. :D Just realized and made an edit here.

Interesting :P It looks much different in z5 than HD. The main thing that made it look unnatural in z6 was the blue in the reflection, something that shouldn't be so obvious; I can't see it in standard detail :P

These highways look great! I think the barriers should be more dull looking, unless you are going for the new effect. :)
