Typical run-down Brooklyn neighborhood. What more can I say?

 

I would not consider this neighborhood run down, and this is not a building from Brooklyn, it's a building from The Bronx. This neighborhood is not rundown the place looks like heaven compared to the 80's.

1466 Grand Concourse

 

Here's another building, it's located on Grand Concourse. I feel the size of the building is not right and i might but this one on hold for a while until I get things right. I'm sorry I have been missing for a while. Right now I sick but I'm going to try to make a new apartment to night if I can find one in the Bronx.

Looking good buddy!! Its good to see some progress.. the overall situation of the team is alarming.. =( Im afraid this team will no longer live anymore.. All our great batters have been away for a long time.. and when you guys show up, and you give us the taste of your magnificent work.. it makes it even harder to stand your absence.

Lovely new building with an interesting shape.I wonder how it will interact with other 2x2 buildings from you.

And i also have to disagree with Konstantin: Of what i can see via Streetview,this area looks pretty nice.Of course no one can expect fancy marble stoops,impressing stucco details or luxurious Cars on the streets.But the historic details of these buildings are still intact and the buildings seem to be in a pretty nice shape.Not sure how they look inside (always wondered how these apartment blocks look from the inside) but i guess they are fine.

Besides that there are Trees where ever is room for them and the streets and sidewalks look clean.The only eyesore might be that ugly gold SUV with those giant rims...

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "size is not right".   I guess you studied the original more thoroughly than I did, but just from looking at your BAT, I would never have guessed that anything may be wrong in terms of size. Even now, comparing it to the original, I don't see any blatant errors. Even if there are slight discrepancies, these will probably not matter at all as long as the building looks and "feels" right in SimCity, next to all the other stuff.

Funny - even if we are talking about building models, some look lifeless, just a block with some holes in it, some look vivid. I think that's the reason why pople some times ask for more roofjunk or reflection or props on the lot.

 

With the nice chimneys, the different shaped sides this model (Grand Concourse) already looks vivid - without textures and props. I like it very much.

Here's a new model from the Bronx, this building is not to far from Grand Concourse, it's on Mount Eden Pkwy. I think this building is the easiest to model right now, I think it's easy enough to finish in on time.

T Wrecks- Your right as long as the building looks and feel right in the game. I do think I will need to work on the shape of the building, the road that the building is on is at an very small angel. I am thinking about altering the shape like it was on a stright road. The area of the building I might change is the back of the building, I want to remove the diagonal look from the back of the building.

fantozzi- Yeah, there are some buildings that are lifeless until you add more objects to make it look like there some people living or working in the building.

Aweseome - the geometry of that building really lends itself to SC4's perspective. 

So I took a look at your streetview link and I was wandering down the street a bit and I found these neat row houses:

The new Barton Paul Building looks great like all your work.A perfect corner lot and i love the "frame" that surrounds always three big windows.This takes away much of the massiveness of the real facade.

 

@ SimCoug: The Mt Eden Parkway detached rowhouses look indeed great.The birdcage like balcony of the second house looks a bit weird,but as long the homeowners like it...

Besides that,the two storey Rowhouses just around the corner on Weeks Avenue are nice too.Ahhh,so many precious houses and so little time...
