I've decided to open up a new project: The Four Seasons Hotel & Residences located in Toronto, Canada.

I do need high-end, luxury and sports cars for the 5-star hotel and luxury condos. So, if you could provide some that'd be great!

I will do some more modelling of the lobby, roof tops, plaza and odd jobs. After that, I'll texture everything and gladly accept your cars for the BAT.

 

THE BOW CALGARY

I'm having a lot of SC4BAT issues I am trying to resolve with GMAX at the moment. I will try troubleshoot the export process myself and if I have no luck I will ask here for help. Night lights are complete and ready for export! Just need to figure out all these error messages I'm getting.

The rest of the modeling remaining is for the roof tops, importing the cars, importing patio furniture, fixing a few mistakes (like how I duplicated the balcony glass) and voila that part should be done. Texturing is about 50% the way through and night lights will commence soon!

 

PS; RBS should be uploaded soon as soon as I can get PIMx working fine. I will also require assistance on all my error messages for exporting The Bow. I will show them in my next post.

As for my error codes, I have this issue what opening up SC4BAT and when I try to create the SC4Model by rendering the LODs.

I never had this issue on my old computer. I'm running 65-bit Windows 10. Any idea of a fix? I run the program in Administrator.

Started the night lights for the Four Seasons. I just got the vehicles today (it's the last piece).

Still figuring out my export problems. Nothing seems to be working. Re-installed multiple times and tried almost everything. 

Regardless, all this time on my hands allows me to have some time on my hands.

After the Four Seasons is complete, which Toronto building shall I complete next? I'm thinking the CN tower or even making those docks ploppables for waterfront downtown cities. Add some trees, textures and props. It's quick and makes a huge difference in cities.

PS; Thanks to the City of Toronto for providing 3d models of every downtown building. It makes a great render. Too bad I can't export this whole thing and plop in SimCity 4 (jk). But at least I can start exporting these buildings one by one after optimizing them for SC4.

For me I would like the CN Tower, First Canadian Place, Royal Bank Plaza, Scotia Plaza, and the Canada Trust Tower. Anyone of those would be nice to have. I really like how the four seasons turned out, I have a lot of pictures from when it was under construction.

I am so glad you are back at work - especially after losing the entire work of so many years, which must be hugely disappointing (I also felt disappointment and anger when I read about this). It's great that you are still motivated to deliver BAT's of highest quality that flatter any city. I'll certainly make use of any new creation ... So I'd be happy with more contemporary stuff but would never say no to a building by Mies van der Rohe ...

I think any number of high rises or mid rises from Toronto would be greatly welcomed as it is a great city with hardly any recognition on simtropolis

THE BOW 

So, The Bow in Calgary, Canada is pretty much complete. I am procrastinating on re-creating my texture library I once had. Once I get that in order, the textures (where needed) will look grungy and more realistic. Don't mind the night render -- it's a draft version.

 

FOUR SEASONS TORONTO

I've tried to reduce rendering times for the Four Seasons. So, I've been experimenting with boxes. Obviously, it's not working. I'll be reverting to the memory-intensive photometric realistic lighting.

 The buildings have also been modeled so that they can be split into separate uploads. So far, I am not satisfied with the textures and will still keep playing around until I get them right.

Special thanks to @Goldman Sachs for the vehicles on the plaza.

 

 

So, I have two surprises. One was expected and one wasn't!

 

SCOTIA PLAZA

Yup. I did this in secret. It's pretty much done with the exception of a couple of lighting and texture tweaks. I'm still having exporting issues with gmax. Once I figure it out, these will begin rendering.

 

TORONTO-DOMINION CENTRE

Well, Dad saved the day. It turns out I made a copy of my old SimCity 4 files and put it on a hard drive I forgot about. He showed up out of nowhere while I was visiting in Canada and gave it back. It turns out my scene files from 2010-13 are on there. Everything from 2013-18 is lost, unfortunately.

However, at least we have a 25% complete TD-Centre to work with! Since all of my textures are still lost, I just provided a clay rendering for viewing instead:

Yay for your dad! Diarrhea and too short arms for those responsible for losing your HD, though, as we say in my country.

I laughed when I saw Scotia Plaza because that would, in fact, have been my suggestion. There is (or was?) an old version of it floating around somewhere, and I remember how I was intrigued by the shape, but ultimately ended up ditching the BAT because it wasn't very high quality unfortunately. Looks like we'll soon have a far superior replacement!

The glass on the Four Seasons looks so incredibly tasty. It's a setup i can see working for any mostly glassy building really. Usually the reason I don't do glass-only buildings. But this one looks both great and fitting for SC4. Mind sharing some settings on this one?

Oh, dear! So manny beautiful stuffs!
I would recommend you to keep always back-ups from your textures and any kind of SC4 related works (and of course any other stuffs) in cloud-drives like google drive (15 GB storage by default and you can have multiple account - I have 5 atm, at least I remember 5, so it could be more, I just discovered the fifth 1 week ago accidently it had been forgotten for 5-6 years), drop box, skydrive/onedrive. I started to copy all of my SC4 related projects under a google drive account to keep them safe if some shitty HD failiure would occure.

Anyway, amazing job!  Thank you for creating these nice buildings.

Agreed.  I'm currently building a city deeply inspired by Vancouver BC and @kellydale2003's BAT's probably fit in with my city the best.  More modern, glass and steel (and Canadian!) are most certainly welcome.

wow! really thank you for bringing those 3d models of Toronto to my attention, I had no idea such a resource would even have been publicly available. It'll be an incredibly valuable recourse for me from now on. Also cheers for getting the Scotia bank building on the STEX, I had a very rough version of if lingering around somewhere that I never planned to complete, so I'm glad to at least get an excellent version of it in game now.

Just a quick update:

 

THE BOW 

Currently in export! I'm using a remote desktop application to access my PC in Canada to render the buildings while my laptop remains free to use for business, personal and BATing. So, this has solved a lot of the export issues but has created some minor ones as you'll see shortly...

 

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL & RESIDENCES

So, I exported this baby but quickly found out that MAPs do not like to stay the same. I think I need to export it as a 3DS and re-import it. And my texture names like "0000.bmp" tend to conflict with each other and grab the wrong texture as the wrong dependency. Some textures went completely grey entirely with no explanation. A quick fix was just to re-link the textures to the objects.

But this got me thinking (and this was totally by accident), but the roof looks kind of better being concrete/tiled rather than grass. What are your guys' thoughts on this? Should I revert it to grass or improve it to a tile roof?

Toronto-Dominion Centre

Since the creation of our project a few years back, all of the buildings have pretty much been re-named. So, I've re-formatted all the files, textures and such. I did have some issues with old rig lights and that took a day to figure out. Nonetheless, it's coming together. All of the buildings were built in different years spanning 24 years and all of their builds, textures and glass are slightly different. I'm doing my best to incorporate those subtle differences to make it as realistic as possible. There is still major work ahead!

Just curious, did you unwrap the roof of the Bow? Did you model most of it and bended it in shape? Or did you include the shape in the modeling process?
