I've tried everything at this point.

I have a laptop that doesn't have a CD drive and I am thinking of switching to Windows 7. Anyone in the Los Angeles area have the expertise to do this for me? I'm not a computer guy at all.

If not, anyone have any tips?

Try installig Windows 7 (assuming you have or can get a license key) on your current machine, so you can boot into Windows 10 for normal, then Windows 7 when you want to BAT.

You can get the ISO files (basically the CD without the CD) here, and put onto USB stick

3Ds Max 2017 didn't work for you either?

Do you have a new version of Max installed? This might be the problem. I had the issue once that 2012 wouldn't work after installation and only after long time I figured that the issue was coming from the already installed 2015 version for some reason. So if you have newer versions, I suggest delete all Max installs, best with Revo Uninstaller for clean process, then install 2012 first and see if it works. 2012 should work with Win10 no problem. Also, if you can use Max 2011, it has less issues than 2012 in my experience and also is supporting Bat4Max without restrictions. Good luck

Excuse me for being stupid, but I looked everywhere for Windows 7 to purchase and I couldn’t find any.

Then I was reminded that eBay exists and that me, as a Canadian boy from the prairies with a P.O. Box where packages cannot be sent to, now live in Los Angeles.

Since my laptop doesn’t have a CD reader, I ordered an external one and ordered a copy of Windows 7. They arrive Tuesday, January 7th, 2020.

So, hopefully it’s all works out and I can get back to Batting!

Hey guys,

Good and bad news! 

Bad news is that I have a presumptive case of COVID-19 and I am in quarantine in my apartment in Hollywood, CA for the next two weeks. Good news is that I have a lot of time on my hands and that I can finally sit down to fix my 3dsmax! Other good news is that my symptoms are mild.

I will be trying some of these solutions again (I didn't have success last time) and I will post which problems I am having since I already forgot which issues I had. Lol!

Believe me when I say this, but I JUMPED OUT OF MY SEAT when I saw that I finally fixed the problem. The solution wasn't any of the previous suggestions. Oh my gawd! A year of having this itch to bat and it's finally over! I CAN BAT! This literally just made my quarantine time so much better.

As for the update with the situation here in California, the Bay Area has been put on full lock down and 6 million people are to, quote, 'shelter in place' exactly at midnight. The lock down will last 3 weeks and you can only leave your home (or wherever you're sheltered in) to go to the hospital or to the grocery store during select hours.

Los Angeles has pretty much shutdown but we not in lock down yet. We are expecting to be locked down any time to the point where its even illegal to go for a walk. LA County alone has 10 million people and I believe our confirmed cases has now surpassed the Bay Area's.

Since we are not testing and not on lock down, many are predicting the Los Angeles area could be as bad as Italy if not worse. We have 10.5 times less hospital beds per capita than Italy and no one is prepared.

Luckily, I began preparing for a major earthquake months ago and got supplies for food and water months ago. I even have batteries, candles, first-aid kits and much more. Before I started developing symptoms I went to the grocery store to top up my usual groceries.

My current symptoms have improved surprisingly and I have no fever. I feel like my body just built natural immunity to it after being exposed. I would equate it to getting a flu shot where sometimes you develop mild symptoms but never fully get sick.

My business for Airbnb, hostels and Turo rentals has absolutely tanked. More than $19,000 has been withdrawn from my account in refunds and cancellations while my bills are still scheduled to withdraw. I have no rent money for April, I am already late on my car payments, my insurance will likely lapse and so far everyone (except GM Financial and Wells Fargo) is allowing me to be late on all my bills. GM Financial called me today requesting when I will be paying my balance. They have also said they haven't implemented any assistance for those in quarantine and Wells Fargo has mercilessly charged me $200 USD in NSF fees so far this week alone.

Residential evictions are prohibited for 6 months and the City of LA is looking to expand that eviction prohibition to commercial entities too (which will really save me if that's the case).

So far, there's nothing I can do and I just have to stay in my apartment until hope comes. My parents in Canada will be sending me money for my 28th birthday (which is on March 19) and that should carry me through for 1-2 weeks. After that, I have no idea what's going on.

I'll just be BATting in the meantime while the chaos around me ensues and I helplessly just sit at home! 

Anyway, I'll resume some of my old work and post a render soon.

Wow, my computer updated itself (Windows 10) and now it says I cannot use my PIN to login.

It’s the only admin account on my computer and I can’t remember the password. I tried recovering it and it asks for my credit card number but I haven’t used a credit card on it because I use PayPal.

Apparently this has happened to a few people where they’re locked out after an update!

Now I have no idea how to login to my computer! Windows 10 is literally the worst software ever made!

I don't know what to do guys. I'm locked out of administrator on my computer and can't recover my Outlook account.

Anyone have any suggestions? If I restore the computer it will erase every BAT and even my copy of 3dsmax 2012 (which I don't think I can get again -- ever). This might be my end of Batting if a solution isn't found.

I don't know what you've been trying to do to recover your passwords. 
Have you tried this?

I have never had this issue on any of my windows, since I don't use profile or any other password for my Windows. Totally pointless. The credit card request is pretty non-sense. If all your trials are ended up with that screen and the request of your card details, then I think you might have a virus problem. MS wouldn't ask your card details, because there is nothing to with your MS account or your local windows profile account.

Do you have any other computer (PC)? What you could do, if you have an other PC, then take out the locked HDD, put it into an other machine. Copy all the files what you need to keep as a back-up. Well this would be just damage control at this point. It wouldn't solve the lose of the MAX issue, but you could save your BATs.

I have 3dsmax 2012 thanks to a generous member! 

However, all of my textures, BATs, scripts and presets will be lost as there is no longer anyway for me to gain access to my old account. Don't worry, guys. As long as I have 3dsmax I'll probably always BAT. I enjoy it and it's a hobby.

Not only that, but it's always been a fantasy of mine to get a team of people together to model hundreds of buildings both landmarks and just general buildings. Obviously this is a big cost to endure, but it's something I would likely do in the future contingent on the success of my businesses.

While I did not escape the pandemic's financial grip, I am not going to be bankrupt like 52% of businesses apparently.

Nonetheless, whenever I have time and need a break I'll hop on 3dsmax to BAT.

Luckily, I accidentally backed-up some of the models by emailing them to people who requested them (I guess that's good karma).

I'll be back, guys.

Also, I am in search of a license. Let me know if anyone has a 3dsmax 2012 license I can share or get off them (Autodesk won't sell me one).

Special thanks to Barroco Hispano for getting me back on board with 3dsmax! I lost all my files and all my textures, but nonetheless I can get some of them back because they're backed up online (but they're a bit old).

Going forward, I will be uploading the 3d models onto STEX so this doesn't continually happen again.

While I am at home in Los Angeles, I am working on building an app (why not). Every hour or two I take a break and spend 20 timed minutes creating 3d models just so I don't get bored of my project. If there's any coders or programmers, I'd like to pick your brain as well.

Also, look what I found!

 

It's Commerce Court (one of the building Soapy was also working on). This one should be very quick.

Also, here's a quick update on the status of others:

1. Yellow is where the new Commerce Court model was found

2. Green are all completed and you can download them on STEX either from me or other creators

3. Pink circles are unknown fates.

 

The reason why I say the purple have unknown fates because my old desktop actually has some of these models on them. But I need someone to go to my parents house (whom are computer illiterate) and transfer those files onto a USB. They have satellite internet outside of a major city on a dead end country road with no cell service in Canada.

Not sure how I'll get those files off that desktop, but I am also hoping for some assistance from anyone who lives in Canada. I just might get my parents to send the whole desktop to someone in Canada and they'll get the files off. You can keep the computer. It's custom, worth rendering on, a bit old (needs cooling equipment and an upgraded power supply).

I'll figure it our shortly, but if there are any Canadian takers please let me know. I do not trust USPS or any other company to transport a desktop across the border. I lost 6+ packages during the pandemic already and its too big of a risk to mail it this far. Within Canada would be better.

Getting my old desktop would save the Toronto-Dominion Center and a few other files!

Sorry for being absent. My computer was getting repaired and then I got very busy.

Here's some minor progress! Still a lot of work that needs to be fixed. When this was imported, it retriangulated and it's been difficult to texture. So, I've been cracking at it bit by bit.

So, I recently visited Apple Park in Cupertino, CA and let's just say I immediately got inspired!

Can someone help me LOT this thing? I'm still adding detail but the building needs to be split down in half to accommodate the 64 FSH files limit per view.

I've never split a building like this before and plus this lot is really massive. I won't be rendering in the trees with it. The LODs are a "C" shape to be rendered in two separate models. I'll need someone to mod the lots and stitch these two pieces together while also adding some beautiful trees from @Girafe into the mix as well as the normal props.

I'm aware there are other buildings on this complex, but for now I think I will just focus on the main Apple Campus 2 building. I want to complete this one asap.

12,000 High-tech sim jobs will be created by this thing in a 32x32 lot (if that's even possible).

 

 

Please let me know if you're interested in modding/lotting this lot (because I don't know how lol).
