Is there anyone interested in batting some brutalist soviet architecture -- the weirder, more SF-y part of it, that is, like these buildings ?

Hello SC4 Community!

I am asking for the help of this wonderful community with two requests, if anyone wants to take on the project(s).

The first request is for a replica of the renovated Denver Union Station. This is a beautiful station that currently has train, underground bus, and GLR (maybe add GHSR?) + shops and offices. I feel like it would be a beautiful addition to SimCity as it mixes old and new. Here is a link to some great photos of what the station went through: https://denverinfill.com/tag/denver-union-station

The second request is for a modernized, downtown-styled Sunken Highway Retaining Walls - something of a cross between the complete functionality of @buddybud's fantastic rural sunken highway set and the beautiful modern textures of @Bipin's Concrete Wall Retainers. Specifically, it would be great to get a complete collection with a modern, straight look to it. I love how the ground under the highway is filled in a bit by the existing rural set, and I believe no trees should be able to be placed on it from god-mode.

  • Pieces:
  • 15m and maybe 7.5, with trees and night lighting
  • 1x1 and 3x1 ortho
  • 1x1 diagonal, 1x1 outer corner ortho-diagonal shirt (L+R), 1x1 inner corner ortho-diagonal shift (L+R)
  • 1x1 Under-bridge no ramp (L+R), 1x1 Under bridge with ramps (L+R)
  • 3x1 under-ramp (L+R)
  • Overhang for under T-exchanges, Cloverleaf, and others if possible.
  • 1x1 ortho highway or electronic highway signs, including exit signs.

Here are the links of what I am talking about that exists:

I know that these are potentially hefty projects to take on! I just am lightyears behind the skilled artists in our community. If there is anyway I can provide support, I will happily give it. Thanks for your consideration!

IS THERE ANYONE......??

Is there anyone out there with the skills and enough interest (Let us not forget generosity) to make the "SMS Baden / Bayern" class dreadnought battleship (circa 1917) ???

I desperately want to make a city tile with a reasonable recreation of the Imperial Dockyards in Wilhelmshaven -- before I pass on and drift off this mortal coil.  *

I would need it rendered as a stand-alone floating lot as well as a prop for use in making my own lots.

If anyone is interested, I will move Heaven and Earth to get you the pictures you need to construct and detail the model.

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

The perfect mid-century building of New York. The international modernist-style building was designed by world-class architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and is part of the western expansion of Rockefeller Center in one of the most sought-after office locations in the U.S. The 39-story property serves as the headquarters for UBS, Paul Weiss & BBDO.

I would like to see the 1285 avenue of America (UBS building) in the game.

Anyone interested in BATing USA style RHW signs that fit the various RHW widths for the elevated heights? (L1,L2,L3,L4) Same for streetlights that can be plopped along elevated networks.

I think that is something everyone would enjoy to have. *:thumb:

Thanks

On a day like today, which marks the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII and the end of the Nazi regime, I just realised that there is something really missing in SC4. We have a lot of cathedrals and churches, especially because of the great work of @debussyman (I'm a huge fan *:D), but what about other religions? Cities are places where people (or sims) of different backgrounds and beliefs come together. So how come there is hardly a synagogue for the game?

So here is my request and I would be happy, if somebody would find it interesting to create:

Börneplatzsynagoge (Frankfurt am Main)

5eb5b6a723e51_FrankfurtSynBoerneplatz030.jpg.6a094da71444a165ed35046db379b668.jpg

A W2W building (at least on the right side), which was set on fire during the 1938 Kristallnacht and completely burned down. The facade was made of red Main sandstone, which still is characteristic for buildings in this region of Germany. The dome was made of copper. The red facade with the green dome would be a nice eyecatcher in the game, as the painting of Max Beckmann shows:

Kunstkarte-Max-Beckmann-Die-Synagoge-in-Frankfurt-am.jpg.3e7e4d49cdc8bba9bca8d2c2c39a6d37.jpg

More pictures of the building are available, if anyone is interested ...

But there would be several other nice synagogues that could be created for the game:

Alte Synagoge (Essen)

AlteSynagogeEssen.jpg.82adb138fafeb59ea083ed4defd056e0.jpg

AlteSynagogeEssen2.jpg.8d7abe8ccff79811e1abef25eaadd9c6.jpg

Westend-Synagoge (Frankfurt am Main)

WestendsynagogeFrankfurt.jpg.bf145da82d0760d7c183b012d1ce0b9f.jpg

Ohel-Jakob-Synagoge (Munich) - for the ones, who prefer it modern

5eb5b95c3994e_SynagogeMnchen.jpg.f75108e94b817614d7206a0780f3ff97.jpg

I am not Jewish myself, but I really feel the game lacks something here. Maybe some of the BATers agree with me. If so, I would be happy to help with more information and pics (different angles, details, etc.) ...

P.S.: A suggestion for a mosque will follow soon.

@Bobelboy Those are nice suggestions! And speaking of synagoges, I'm sure the Neue Synagoge in Berlin was BATed by someone, but I could not find it. Maybe it was not released.

@Bobelboy Both synagogues and mosques do exist for simcity4. Here is one from the first category;

However I do agree with you that it would be great to see more of them

Thank you! I think I remember that Peterycristi started to bat the Neue Synagoge, but it stayed unfinished (like so many of his superb BATs :(). I know you are very busy with the Louvre (and probably also other projects), but maybe ... if you need some distraction from that, one or two of the historic synagogues might something for you. They would be in the right hands, for sure!

You are right, of course. And Wolf has done a nice job on that one. But I think - as you also pointed out - it would be nice to have a little more, especially for different urban areas. Because if you play a bigger city, it certainly would not be wrong to have two or even three ... So  I still feel there is a lack of religious diversity in the game ... However, this is just a suggestion ...

I may end up taking this one on myself for a US-Canada border city I am planning on doing for my game, but a Shopper's Drug Mart might be nice if someone wants to do it.

@debussyman
I know, that you won't run ot of inspirations, but here is a few more buildings, what you could keep in mind for the future :)

Cathedral of Valencia (3 religion ONE building)

Sacre Coeur has been already made though

Ah, I haven't noticed that! Frogface made it in 2004, indeed, that's an old BAT, but it looks cool on the images. Thanks for the reminder! :)
Ok, so in that case:
Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor), Barcelona (is it spanish humour, that they established a amusement park next to the temple. Also the view of the city from there is spectecular.)

I just took a look and the Budapest synagogue would be spectacular, no doubt. And Berlin too, of course ... *:8) If you consider one of the suggested, let me know, if I can help with pictures and information (although the internet would probably do). And for any Berlin building as well: if the building still exists and you are not sure about details, I can take a pic. There are also nice areal pictures of 1928 when Prussian Berlin was still intact. I'll be happy - at least - to support whenever it's suitable ...
