North Park Water Tower:

NorthPark-Water-Tower.jpg

North_Park_Water_Tower_t658.jpg?ff95ca2b

It has a unique design and is now a historical landmark in San Diego. Most water towers I've seen (particularly in this style) on the STEX are smaller in size. The NPWT stands about 127ft (40m) tall and holds roughly 1.2 million gallons (4500m3). I'd recommend an in-game capacity of around 20 000, as the location the tower sits on holds/manages roughly that amount.

The green color and height disparity between everything surrounding it makes it unique and a good marker for when you're in the community. If someone BATs this I will be very grateful. Thanks!

Yes, my post points in the same direction as some others recently.

In the past there were published very beautiful and amazingly textured office towers. Now there seems to be a missmatch with modern §§§-Residentials where

the sims that work in those beautiful towers find a home.

I don't want to make a specific suggestion. Can give some links to what local architects think about high wealth residentials actually.

But I think it would be a good idear to make some modern high wealth residentials corresponding to those office towers. It's not really looking good if I mod office towers to be residentials. It's rather confusing if residential areas look like commercial ones. I like it when you can distinguish them from first sight. Like industrial zones.

So please it would be nice to have more chic residentials. There are many and really superb low wealth on the stex. There haven't been released that many with a touch of luxury. And the older ones don't reach the quality of todays batting.

I'd like to submit a request for a highway maintenance garage.  Especially given the amount of roadgeekery around ST and due to the nature of the game, I found it surprising that when I searched for one I came up empty.

The level of BATing required would probably be pretty basic - most garages consist of a simple warehouse-y office and garage and in snowy climates a salt shed, lineup of snowplows and the ubiquitous ornamental plow blade at the street.

Some ideas from the web:

i would like to request a guard rail pack, maybe with some over hanging lots, and maybe the can conform to slopes?

i have a few parts along one of my most recent highways that is right on the edge of water, and i thought some guard rails would fit perfectly

i live in Canada so the familier look of guardrails to me are along the lines of these...

wNgZ4gp.jpg
or these...

now if somebody could make a pack of these for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

For some reason, I don't see many gas station BATS. Simcity 4's gas stations are limited to the random pump n' scoot station, but even then it's very weird having a city of 20,000 or so people without a single gas station. I would like to see some bats of ones like BP, Shell, Exxon, etc. Another cool idea is conjoined fast food stores. Most Subway restaurants I know of are inside a gas station, but all the subway (restaurant) bats I am aware of are freestanding. I know one Shell station that houses a Taco Bell. I have even seen some Speedway/Marathon stations have a Wendy's.

I would also like to see a 1960's style KFC BAT. We have a Burger Chef BAT, why not 1960's KFC or even Drummer Boy Steakhouse? My father talks about them from his childhood.

And lastly, there is a small chicken chain called Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken, it's building design is very unique.

Meijer 3687542507_325a750a78_o.png

Source: BING Maps

Location: Ann Arbor, MI (Carpenter Rd.)

Description:

Meijer is a hypermarket (reputed to be the first) based in the midwest area (Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, etc.). A hypermarket sells grocery and general merchandise.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

There is not a hypermarket on the STEX yet. The lone exception is Carrefour, a European-based hypermarket that pulled out of most English-speaking areas many years ago, and that was in the early days of the BAT (and thus not looking terribly great, or scaled). A hypermarket combines grocery and general merchandise.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/db/Meijer_Pineapple.jpg/220px-Meijer_Pineapple.jpg

Some locations, according to the wiki, say that the ones built between 1991 and 2000 had a distinct "Pineapple" Pinnicle, which housed the store's cafe. The forum wouldn't let me upload the pic itself for some odd reason.

I really would love to see Meijer recreated onto SimCity 4, my Grandma and I love it, it's like Walmart, but MUCH better!

(P.S. I refuse to download any Walmart or Walmart related BATS)

Description:

Legendary Boston underground music venue, opened in the 1970s as a Lebanese restaurant. The building comprises 4 storefronts (Upstairs at The Middle East, ZuZu, The Corner, Downstairs at The Middle East) and the exterior features a distinctive Arabesque facade.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Middle_East_%28nightclub%29

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

As far as BATs go, there seems to be a lack of recreations of real-world bars, rock venues, and nightclubs, as well as a lack of recreations of Boston buildings more generally. An artist could have fun experimenting with more colorful textures and modeling shapes for the awnings and archways. Perhaps this could work as a medium density, 1x2 CS$$ W2W corner lot, including the neighboring and far less ornate-facaded nightclub T.T. the Bear's...

I'd attempt this myself but I have no 3d modeling skills, only building ideas... thanks for reading!

If it's not to much trouble, can somebody make some coffee plantations/farms, I'm trying to build a tropical country, but to my dismay when I searched for one on the LEX and STEX I could not find one. I you're interested in helping just PM me.

Here are some links to pics, one from Tropico 4, the other is real:

http://www.alohakonacoffee.com/gallery/kona_coffee_farm_ocean_view.jpg

I think this is needed because well, the community has done a good job providing a wide variety of crops,(Corn, wheat, rice, etc.), I could find pretty much everything else (except tea, I think), so why don't we finish the job, allowing players to grow whatever practical crop desired.

I thought of this when I wanted to bring the crops I grew in Tropico 4 to SC4, since I'm building a tropical nation as well, feedback, and help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the fields! I really appreciate the help!

Anybody know where we could create a forum for this mod? I propose calling it the 'Cash Crops Mod', that way we have place to discuss work on this project, and better recruit some BATers.

I also decided that, while looking for cash crops we need other things, like pepper, which is a big cash crop in South Asia, and how about cotton? that's a global cash crop (yes I know there is a cotton farm on the STEX, but it badly needs a revamp). Please keep posting the support and ideas, I greatly appreciate the support.

PM me if you are interested or want to help, again, thanks in advance.

I would like some Anglo-Indian style train stations in our cities like

Victoria Terminus

Chennai Central Station

Trivandrum Station

Delhi Station

Kolkata Station

These are good because they are large and grand for the railways in our cities.

Thanks for the plantation!  I am very interested in this mod too.  The coca plantation is a reward and could use some revamping.  It makes a landfill sound when clicked, the arrow that points towards where it should be on the road is misplaced.  Would love to see this as ploppable industry so it has workers (probably a mix of $ and $$$) and generates freight.

How about:

The Magnolia Hotel (sometimes called the Magnolia Building, originally the Magnolia Petroleum Building) is a 29-story, Beaux-Arts style, upscale hotel in the Main Street District of downtown Dallas, Texas, that for many years was the tallest building in the state. The structure is a Dallas Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The building, which opened next door to the Adolphus Hotel in August 1922[2] at a cost of US $4 million, was originally the headquarters for the Magnolia Petroleum Company. In 1934, the company erected its trademark neon Pegasus on the building's roof. The rotating winged horse came to represent the city of Dallas and became one of its most recognizable and endearing landmarks, even after the building became obscured by much larger skyscrapers (the neon Pegasus can now only be seen in the downtown skyline approaching from the south).

By 1974, however, Pegasus stopped rotating due to mechanical problems and in 1977, the Mobil Oil Company moved their headquarters out of the aging building and the property was sold to the city of Dallas. The building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The building was purchased by Denver, Colorado developers in 1997 and was converted into the luxury 330-room Magnolia Hotel.

In 1999, in preparation for Dallas's Millennium Celebration, Pegasus was taken down to be completely restored. However, the sign was beyond repair and a new sign was recreated from scratch. At midnight on 1 January 2000, the new Pegasus, complete with rotation, was lit for the first time. (source Wikipedia)

It is a historic building in Dallas, so I would like to see if someone could BAT this.

Metro/rail stations that fit between opposing lanes of a motorway/freeway, which connect to parking garages/structures adjacent to freeway. Such as these in the following images:

wiehle.png

efc-aerial.jpg

East_Falls_Church_station_from_inbound_e

I-66-rush-hr-near-vienna-Karen-Bleier-AF

***Note: All of these images were derived from Google search on DC metro***

Reason:

These stations/station set up would enable Simcity 4 fans to expand upon existing functionality of the NAM with additional transit features, and allow us to make efficient use of medians in suburban/urban areas. Furthermore, I do not believe such transit stations exist on the STEX, LEX, etc.

Hello all.

We have some lovely terraced housing, such as the wonderful British terraced housing by Gascooker, but I can't find anything to finish off a row of terraced houses in a fashion similar to some UK cities.

I'd appreciate if someone with the skills could create a small selection of end terrace buildings that would allow me to complete rows to avoid seeing blank gable walls.

Ideally they'd need to be similar in height and style to Gascooker's various terraces, such as Brixton Row, Camberwell Mansions and Pentonville, as well as possibly Mattb325's Holland Park Terrace. So a mix of Victoria, Edwardian and Georgian.

If anyone can help or if anyone has already made something for personal use I'd appreciate your help.

Hey community! I wondered if anyone considered a fresh take on auto dealerships? There's a need for variety. Chevrolet/Cadillac/Buick/GMC, Fiat, BMW, Volvo, Porsche, Mercedes, Mazda, Nissan, Honda, Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep, Mini, Toyota, Subaru, Ford/Lincoln, Suzuki, Acura, Infiniti, Kia, Hyundai, Lexus, Saab.... Did I get them all? There are so many options to try.

One of our members, mikeseith, started some pretty good dealership lots a few years ago. But there really does need to be an expansion. And not just limit the lots to two and three tiles. There's a need for life-like lots, as in 15-20 tiles wide and long. That sums up my request. This opens the door for some awesome architectural designs and an increase in business traffic. The more lots, the better, especially if they're used as rewards.

How about an embassy pack? Not any specific nation but just generic embassies that would fit into any city and maybe based off actual embassy buildings. Here are some real world examples from Wikipedia. These are all located in D.C.

Embassy of Japan:

225px-Embassy_of_Japan_in_Washington_DC.

Embassy of Canada:

225px-Embassy_of_Canada_in_Washington%2C

Embassy of Romania:

225px-RomanianEmbassyWashingtonDC.jpg

Embassy of Philippines:

225px-Embassy_of_the_Philippines%2C_Wash

The reason is that I've only seen a couple of embassies on the STEX. Some more variety would be great. I could see someone using embassies like that in a capital city, a CJ, or even both.
